General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I got a bargain from a local scrapyard for a high lever reap spoiler, out of curiosity i was wondering if anyone could identify it from the sticker thats on the left side of the spoiler where it would be bolted to the tailgate. It reads as follows: 90-96 300ZX 2 DR MIDWING 591344L M 1 Cheers John Crisp

im a bit out of my league here ive got water leaking out of bottom of engine seems to be coming from rear of bottom belt pulley got all front parts off ie fan,hoses,right side drive belt cover etc etc to the point of loosing track of everything would i be right in thinking it may be the water pump?? or is it worse maybe head?? :( :( :(

thinking of getting new alloys - 17" maybe 18" for my uk 300zx.. looking at 5 spoke design...any ideas would be appreciated (with out breakin the bank!!) also what offset should the wheels be?? cheers

Im brand new to this zx thing and I love it but I have a few questions. I have just bought a 1992 import z with blitz exhaust and blitz bov's. It currently will not run more than 5psi and I have been told that it should be about 9psi. Cant really hear the turbos and the bov's are almost inaudible but the car does feel quite strong. Also, sometimes when it has just been driven hard I come to a stop (at a roundabout for instance) and it stalls. Any ideas on these would be much appreciated. Sorry if these are really silly questions but im new to the world of real cars!!!

Got a strange warning light on the dash, left hand side I was running at a steady 85-90 when it came on. Just a flicker at first, then full on. Looked like something overheating, so I turned off the AC and slowed to around 65. The light went out. Got home to look in the hand book, but nothing. Does anyone know what warning lights are on the left hand side on the Jap cars? It's sort of a box with open ends and three or four wavey lines above. Like something is hot.. Any idears? Chris..

Mine was parked opposite while I miserably failed my DAS test- well narowlly missed by ballsing up my turn in the road. Now I'm pissed off and half pissed. Poo. Black H reg with a big way-out spoiler with a thor sticker. Was this Paul C's? Who has it now? What were you doing A Cov. Speedway? Is it the dogs tonight there?

My boost is playing up and just wanted to see if anything sounds strange. my boost read -9 or is it -90 when engine off. it idles at -60 or -600. full boost is 0.5 bar but drops to 0.4 bar after a while. is this a boost leak or saftey/detting

Im trying to find out for sure if its the PIAA HE271/ecb1 model will fit in the Jap import 300, anyone know any decent sites and CHEAP! Cheers, Rob

I'm replacing my rear 6x4s as the old ones are knackered. (I got some new Blaupunkts from ebay for £22 :dance: ) When I put the new ones in, does it matter which way round the wires go on each speaker? Do they have a positive and negative or anything like that? cheers gents

Right i'm probs with system not working the volts to the rear battery is 9 which my amps require allot of juice as their 2500rms. I'm assuming the rear batt is loosing charge as i only drive it weekends, the charge is getting lost between the two. So what i'm going to do is fit a split charge relay these are my plans let me know if you think it will work. The Relay goes inline of the for Gauge power as close to main batt as poss, it has two little other things on it to attached so i'm assuming one is earth and the other is to turn it on so what do you think about connecting it to the remote lead for the amps on the head unit, is this a constant power source…

Hi Just bought phil300zx's car from him . It needs stuff doing like speedo sensor but really could do with a 300 guru to go over it and tell me how much dollars to put all the niggles right, and more importantly if there is anything wrong that i do not know about. Im in north wales 90 miles from manchester. Anyone close who can help ? Will cover petrol and maybee even stand a pinto or two. Many thanks chaps :D

Hi all, thanks again for all the help you've given, I must have read every topic on the forum by now! At least I won't feel like I'm going to buy a car I nothing about :) Anyway, I've seen this pic online, and I was wondering if anybody knew what kit it has on, and also what wheels they are. This is the sort of look I will be going for after some consideration, and convincing the better half it's a good idea to do. ;) So, any ideas from the experienced owners of Zed's on here?

Guys, does anyone elses rear hatch annoy the fVck out of them when driving along bumpy road, mines squeeks like you wouldnt believe...... :mac1: I think its something to do with the u-bar and lock mechanism but I havent started to investigate yet, although my frustration is bringing me closer to it!!! I just end up turning the stereo up, not good though when ur taking your mum to the shops! :D Anyone else got this noise?

Got a problem with my Zed, seems to be lacking power when i pull away, or juddering for lack of a better term, its the N/A. Thought the cat was blocked but have been told its not that, then tried the spark plugs and still no joy, put it into a garage and he thinks it may be gearbox, is there anyone with some Zed nohow in The local area (i am in Chelmsford, essex) that might be able to have a quick look and give me more of an idea than i have been given so far.

Can anybody recommend somebody in West Yorks to service and do basic look after of my Zed ? Dont have a garage or much experience so need someone to help me keep my zed sweet

This may seen like a stupid question but I have I new UK Double Din CD Radio Cassette that I was going to put in my Z. But now I have the car it only appears to take two single units. Is that correct or can it be modified?

hi to anyone out there.I have just got a '91 300zx non turbo and finding it difficult to obtain new front discs, a mechanic friend of mine removed disc and took it somewhere, he returned with new discs that looked identical but didn't fit with the calipiers...any ideas...part nos or who can I call, that knows about imports

I think the heavy rain got to my Z the other day. Tried to start it last night for the first time in almost a week and it just stuttered and died. Sometimes it would start and rev up to about 1500rpm then dropped down and died. If I touched the accellerator at all it died instantly. I found the temp sensor connector was full of water from my bonnet vent and dried it out but still no luck. Any ideas? Hoping it will just start tonight when I get home :rolleyes:

Lasr couple of times I've driven the Z its just felt a little different to normal on start up. Its as if there's no "choke". Revs don't rise any higher than normal temp running conditions. And the revs don't seem to rise at all for the first 3rd of travel/press on the accelerator.....sometimes bursting into life if it does. I've got a new TPS and have recently checked the voltage but not since this problem though. Should I be looking at the IAA valve? After a couple of mins driving all is fine, once its up to operating temp. Nothing too major but its annoying me, know what I mean? Any help appreciated as always.

I need to remove the clutch vacuum tank shown in the link ( http://www.courtesyparts.com/z32/oe_clutch-boost.html ) so that i can stick a vent on the front wing but when i tried removing it the clutch went reaaly hard and the car started ideling all funny! Can i just block the hose that leads to the tank and will this just solve the problem and wat will i use or is there a smaller tank that i could use possibly a quarter of the size! Any help will be greatly appreciated! We have fitted one vent on the passenger side shown below but the drivers side is creating problems due to this tank! Cheers Fas
