General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Got a problem with my Zed, seems to be lacking power when i pull away, or juddering for lack of a better term, its the N/A. Thought the cat was blocked but have been told its not that, then tried the spark plugs and still no joy, put it into a garage and he thinks it may be gearbox, is there anyone with some Zed nohow in The local area (i am in Chelmsford, essex) that might be able to have a quick look and give me more of an idea than i have been given so far.

Can anybody recommend somebody in West Yorks to service and do basic look after of my Zed ? Dont have a garage or much experience so need someone to help me keep my zed sweet

I have been told that there is a garage in or near Dartford which works on 300 auto boxes Does anybody know who this is??? Thanks

This may seen like a stupid question but I have I new UK Double Din CD Radio Cassette that I was going to put in my Z. But now I have the car it only appears to take two single units. Is that correct or can it be modified?

hi to anyone out there.I have just got a '91 300zx non turbo and finding it difficult to obtain new front discs, a mechanic friend of mine removed disc and took it somewhere, he returned with new discs that looked identical but didn't fit with the calipiers...any ideas...part nos or who can I call, that knows about imports

I think the heavy rain got to my Z the other day. Tried to start it last night for the first time in almost a week and it just stuttered and died. Sometimes it would start and rev up to about 1500rpm then dropped down and died. If I touched the accellerator at all it died instantly. I found the temp sensor connector was full of water from my bonnet vent and dried it out but still no luck. Any ideas? Hoping it will just start tonight when I get home :rolleyes:

Lasr couple of times I've driven the Z its just felt a little different to normal on start up. Its as if there's no "choke". Revs don't rise any higher than normal temp running conditions. And the revs don't seem to rise at all for the first 3rd of travel/press on the accelerator.....sometimes bursting into life if it does. I've got a new TPS and have recently checked the voltage but not since this problem though. Should I be looking at the IAA valve? After a couple of mins driving all is fine, once its up to operating temp. Nothing too major but its annoying me, know what I mean? Any help appreciated as always.

I need to remove the clutch vacuum tank shown in the link ( http://www.courtesyparts.com/z32/oe_clutch-boost.html ) so that i can stick a vent on the front wing but when i tried removing it the clutch went reaaly hard and the car started ideling all funny! Can i just block the hose that leads to the tank and will this just solve the problem and wat will i use or is there a smaller tank that i could use possibly a quarter of the size! Any help will be greatly appreciated! We have fitted one vent on the passenger side shown below but the drivers side is creating problems due to this tank! Cheers Fas

OK ladeez'n'gennelmen I did my research and conscientiously used the searchy thing to try to find which plug is best for a Japanese TT over here. At last, I find the guru's site which say NGK PFR6B-11B is right and -11C is probably OK. In a pm, the guru himself said -11C is better for UK fuel and will be better than the -11B. :confused: :confused: NGK's site says -11C and Courtesy's says -11B (but of course that is for US fuel so maybe -11C is right after all.) Heeeelep - which one? -11B or -11C?

Most sources of these make you buy 2 packs of 4. I just found that Concept Z in Arizona http://www.czp.us will happily sell you a set of 6 because (and I quote) "we don't see why you should have to buy 2 connectors you don't need." Blimey. hi guys can anyone help.does anyone know what mph reading the indiglo dials goes up to that were in the group buy a while ago?i'm thinking of getting some but my speedo reads 180mph and the indiglo's read 160mph.is that going to affect my reading and if it does is it expensive to have it recalibrated???thanks for any advice.

ok then so i have just finished fitting the pcv valves and the 5 new hoses thanks to mike feeney in the traders section, :dance: went to start the zed and a load of white smoke is pouring out of both exhausts turning brown when u give it a rev and it backfires to so i think its running really rich !! :cry: bit of history for ya !! was smoking a lot of blue oil but the pcv kit sorted it !! new turbos 2 years ago !! and only done about 5000 miles on them i did disconect the drivers side o2 censor i think to get to the pcv valve !! any help much appreceated as its driving me nuts :mad: :mad:

can it be changed and how easy is it to do? anybody attempted or had to have this done befor? yaseen

what is the best way of getting the old one out and new one in? How much of the dash area do I have to remove if any?

Well got my car back. Now running 2 T28 BB but can't get boost over 11psi. I think it maybe down to the two BOVs being set to open at 10-11? If they came off a standard car, would they not be set to 10 if running 9 psi? They are HKS but down know how to adjust? Any help or advise? Cheers

Ive got a 300zx tt auto import and have had it for around 5 months. after a month the speedo started to play up, it would would stop and start again and also effects the power steering (not good when going hard in2 a corner) but recently its been gettin worse, ive checked the connectors a few times. Theres a little black box behind the speedo which i think maybe the delimiter, could it be this which maybe causing the probs or maybe the clocks themselfs? Ive got a feeling its a loose wire but cant seem to find it. Its abit of a nitemare esp with all the rozzers around and there bloody cameras. Thanks Hanksy

when i get to 105 kmh and over i get a warning sound (sound similar to the alarm when you leave the lights on), does anyone know what it is?? and why it does it??, no warning light comes on, it`s just anoying not knowing what it is, hope it`s not serious :bow: anyone??

Has anyone ever got their T timers working with their alarms? The guy i bought my car off gave me this turbo timer (not connected) and id like to hook it up, i have no clue and have been looking at the posts and can imagine its a bit off ball ache trying to get them workin together? Please can you lot give me some advice on buying a nissan 300zx, which do you think is better the turbo or non turbo, what things should I look for before I buy the car, do they have anything that seems to go wrong with them that I should check for, someone told me the injectors and the power transistor can play up but I would really like some more info on things to look for, also is there a lot of difference in power with the twin turbo, the non is about 240bhp and with the turbo its 280, or am I wrong??? im not greatly mechanically minded hope someone can help me out. on my way home i noticed it wouldnt go into boost,(just dipped down as if no fuel) i presume this is the safety boost. i then noticed the temp go into the red i got home noticed it was leaking water. took the center panel off to see where it was coming from. found a big lump of polestirene jammed between the fan and the rad now how the hell did this get there,because the front scoop is coverd with mesh (veilside c2 type front ). cant see no water from front of rad. need to get car off ground to find out where leak is hope its not serious can anyone help ? :cry: :cry: :cry:
