had a bit of a change round
so this morning i decided to tidy up my boot build, i've never been happy with the position of the amp and never really got round to relocating it, so it's now under the boot floor i'm still not sure if i'm going to keep the sub or find something smaller like the slimline subs. and same same with the carputer project great bit of kit but still not sure if i'm going to keep it or move back to a single or double din unit. i do need to either replace or make new boot floor panels as the old ones are a little past their best. so i've gone from this to this (yes i know it needs to be hoovered)

Rusty rear inner sills ? How bad ?
you would be better off using a grinder it will destroy all the weak rusty metal but at least you'll know when you have solid material you can weld too.
-
Gargling noise??
i doubt it would be the cooling system, if it was airlocked you would have other issues, and it wouldn't gurgle until you switched the engine off. try the AIV delete as above removed mine last year quite an easy job once you get to the bits.

Paint. Where did I go wrong.
i've used 1k base and clear once on my zed on the rear spoiler after a year it cracked and crazed, it has no uv protection so the sun will kill it. i would never use it again, when i redid my spoiler 2 years ago i used 2k base coat and 2k lacquer (the type in the rattle can where you press a button to release the activator) it still looks as good today as when i first sprayed it.

high idle
well just a quick update i've now resolved this issue, turns out when i got into it a bit deeper, the problem wasn't exactly broken wires, the connector on the air regulator had gone brittle and popped off, but would not stay on once put back on, then when i removed the rubber cap i found the earth wire broken off and the insulation around the the positive wire quit badly split, so luckily i had new connectors here which i bought a couple of years ago (obviously i never replaced it as i thought) so fitted a new connector, i then checked the iacv and ficd connectors, the iacv has a yellow connector on and it tight so may have been replaced or still has it's clip intact, the ficd though had also popped off, so i replaced that one as well and now i have correct tickover

high idle
cool that'll keep me busy i think i replaced iacv plug a couple of years ago but worth a check

high idle
hi guys just got the zed out of storage ready for the summer and the idle is to high whilst warm (ticking over just over 1000 rpm) this fault is intermittent, but i have traced it to the the back end of the plenum, where the loom feeds in for the injectors/coil packs etc someone has been into the loom there before looking at the loose black tape around it, but when i move the loom the tickover speed drops to where it should be, then raises when i release it so guessing broken wire in there somewhere, which units on the plenum control the tickover speed?

Electric an gas a month
my gas & electric are roughly £18 per week in winter thats on a dual fuel deal in a 2 bed mid terrace house, built pre 1900 with a mid 60's extension so none of the walls are insulated which isn't ideal as i live in a colder area.

Rustproofing and waxoiling underneath,
dinitrol gets my vote you can use it in cavities and on the underside, use ML first this does cavities and a base coat over the underside, it goes on like water so flows in-between panel gaps etc, then coat the outside with 4941, this is a thicker wax for the outside, gives a stone chip type finish and dries to a semi hard wax, did mine earlier this year and so far no issues from stone chips etc
