  1. Yowser beat me to it. Also if your car is or was an auto then the drivers side pipe will need some thumping with a lump hammer on the angled turn to make it fit.
  2. There are no lambda sensors in the cats. Those are post cat temp sensors. You can just cut the wires and tuck them out of sight If your garage was any good, they notice the lambda sensors are fitted to the manifolds.
  3. there's a guide on 3zc on gutting the pre cat
  4. Easiest way to solve this is to crawl under your car and have a look. It's the only way to know for sure.
  5. just did a quick google for you. UK cars have one pre cat on passenger side only.
  6. no pre cats on JDM cars, not sure about UK cars. I thought it was USDM cars only, to meet certain smog criteria in some states?
  7. I'm all for helping the charity. But just to temper it a little - I attempted on two occasions to create a Lands End - John o Groats tag drive when I was over on the RX8OC. And the logistics of it just couldn't be made to work. Getting people who can commit to taking time off work through the week etc was just too difficult. And that was a club with a significantly larger active membership than here. Little raffles at meets with the proceeds going to the charity work well.
  8. Subframe bushes on mine are pretty shot, getting a lot of Corner Hop when pushing it, or hitting a pothole. Ideally I could do with leaving it until next year when I have the new garage built with more space, but that'd rule me out for pretty much the entire show season.
  9. lol. I wish. Maybe next year! I may just have to suffer my bodged exhaust for the start of the show season next year. Ordered a full set of poly bushes, will be dropping the subframe and cleaning up the whole rear end. Will Waxoyl at same time I think.
  10. SORN'd mine today ready for winter. Ordered some bits n bobs from CZP for winter projects.
  11. Took out the dash and skipped the kmh/mph converter that was causing my electrical issues. Neatened up some of the wiring behind the dash whilst I was at it and reinstalled my stereo. Fitted some SMD lights in the sidelight sockets. That'll give a similar colour to my hids until I move them to the indicator cluster. Was gonna make a start on sorting the idle out, but the heavens opened.
  12. Removed this little box of tricks All the needle jumping has stopped. excellent. Anyone recommend a reliable kmh-mph convertor? Next stop is the idle vs wd40. Best get cracking.
  13. Try Livinstones Warman. All 3 of my cars are insured through them. £205 for the 300 on a classic policy (limited mileage)
  14. Although he doesn't advertise 300zx stuff on his website, Tarmac Sportz (ran by a friend of mine) is a UK stillen dealer and can source Z32 parts.
  15. It was literally as I was typing out the symptoms above that I remembered about the speedo convertor lol. I'll see if I can get time tomorrow to get the cluster out.
  16. Yeah, once up to temp idle settles to 750-770
  17. Good point. I'll have to take the cluster out and have a look. I'll put some pics up once it's out.
  18. Right, having got over my annual period I have decided that selling the car may be a little hasty (if a mod could please lock, delete, burn, dismember that thread I would appreciate it). Ok. So here are some symptoms and status. They may, or may not be associated to each other. 1. On cold start up, revs climb to 1300 after catching, then drop to approx 150, before picking back up and settling at 1000 ish. The rev drop will occur after each touch of the throttle until the car has been running for a few minutes (no accurate engine or coolant temp gauge). 2. Pressing the horn causes speedo needle to quickly swing 80mph above whatever it is currently at and then drop to previous speed. This occurs regardless of engine running or not. 3. Switching on dipped headlights (HIDs) causes speedo needle to quickly swing the full range of the speedo and then back to zero. If this action is repeated, the range of the swing decreases each time until it only jumps 10-15mph. This occurs regardless of engine running or not. 4. All fuses in place and correct. No corrosion found on any of the fuse/relay boxes. 5. Car is a JDM with a mph convertor fitted behind dash cluster. 6. Dash lights are dimmable and stay at whatever setting they have been set at. I'm not the greatest automotive electrician. So any help is appreciated. If people think it's an Earth fault or a short, some indication of how to go about finding it would be helpful as I ain't got a clue where to start.
  19. Wow. Not only would you be able to see bugger all, even with HIDs. But they look amazingly crap too.
  20. Speaking to Ian last night, and he is happy one day for me to take over a bunch of 300 to go round and have a natter with him about his build and plans. Will probably wait a few weeks until the welding is finished and it starts to look more like a car again. Anyone who is interested, then just drop me a PM. Though be warned, I am under strict instructions to take my coveralls with me next time...you might get the same treatment! lol
  21. http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/10/16/chinese-boy-racer-body-left-street_n_4108222.html Grim and controversial.
  22. He has a custom cage installed by Clark Customs: The interior is obviously fully stripped out, and he has fully seam welded . Car then rolled onto it's side: And the seam welded restarted. This is where he was as of last night: I'll be keeping this updated if people are interested? Also, once the car is on the road, I'll be organising meets to see him (and the other BDC cars) in action.
  23. Some of you who watch or follow BDC or Drift AllStars will recognise this car: It's the Skyline driven by Ian "Bizz" Phillips. I was round at Ian's last night checking on his current project progress, and I realised some of you guys may be interested in. Well back in June, Ian pulled the power plant from that car as the car itself was starting to be pulled apart by the constant torque he was throwing through it. This is what he removed: And this is what he decided to put it into:
  24. Please let's not turn this thread into another bitching session. Is the scene not suffering enough? Leave it be for ****s sake and just enjoy your ****ing cars.
  25. damn that Kenwood unit is nice for a single DIN. Maybe I'll keep the car just to install one of those. lol
