  1. Please let's not turn this thread into another bitching session. Is the scene not suffering enough? Leave it be for ****s sake and just enjoy your ****ing cars.
  2. damn that Kenwood unit is nice for a single DIN. Maybe I'll keep the car just to install one of those. lol
  3. I believe the plug was pulled by the owners around lunch time today.
  4. I prefer to use this method over water ;)
  5. Ok, when horn fuse is pulled it still does the needle jump when switching on the lights. but not when pressing the horn. The dash lights are undimmable even with all fuses in.
  6. Cheers for that. I just ordered 2 extensions
  7. As said above, plug and play. The leads are just slightly too short to fit the ballasts in the space under the fascia panel which is a shame.
  8. Spent a while today fitting a HID kit. It's a 35w 6000k for £25 off eBay . From this To this Gonna have to change the side lights/fogs now as they look way too yellow in comparison. Strangely, fitting the kit has added to a previous gremlin. If I beep the horn, the speedo needle jumps to 80 then back to whatever speed I'm doing (even if stopped). Since fitting the HIDs this now also happens when first turning the lights on. Any ideas?
  9. Upload to photobucket and the link that here.
  10. If you look in the how to section I did a how to on "keyless entry". part of this will show you how to fit an actuator which should help you to replace yours if it's failed. They cost hardly anything on eBay.
  11. Well what can I say.....I tug for a living, and work with seamen. (So many innuendo's I can make with my career)
  12. I'm driving my boat down the River Forth for some early morning tugging. a common time for me to be on the forum
  13. A few of the below were a second run alongside the weekend toy. Ones I still have are in blue. 1989 Nissan Micra 1.0l 2002 Vauxhall Astra 1.8SXi owned for 8 months 2004 Mazda RX8 (HP). Owned for 4 years) 2008 Nissan 350z 3.5l (HR) Owned for 2 years 2007 HSV Clubsport R8 (LS3) Owned for 18 months 2002 Peugeot 406 Coupe 2.2HDi (ran as a second car along with the HSV. I will NEVER buy another Pug because of this car) 2002 Honda Accord Tourer 2.0l (replaced the Pug coupe, and used as a workhorse during house renovation) 2012 Ford S-Max 2.2 Titanium X Sport Needed to carry the twins about 1995 Nissan 300zx Slicktop NA 2008 Renault Megane 1.6l (the wifes)
  14. The problem with 2nd and 4th will likely be the lower rubber shift boot popping off. Mine was exactly the same. Remove the centre trim, and you'll see the lower boot. Your symptoms are exactly the same as I had. I ended up glueing the lower one in place to stop it popping off. My middle boot also had a tear in, which I rubber glued together.
  15. I can't remember exact figures, but I was recently quoted close to £1000. It works out cheaper to by a 2nd hand box.
  16. I did wonder why you had suddenly brought RX8's into it! (Although I did own one of those for 4 years and 60,000 miles too - without incident, but then I had owned it from new).
  17. Rotary engine are reliable, provided they are looked after. I agree, if you buy a lemon, you are in trouble. But factor in £1200 on top of your purchase price and you can get a full fresh rebuild for peace of mind. I know I sound like I am banging on about this. But I hear horror stories all the time about both the 13B and the Renesis Rotary engines. I've put a combined total of almost 100k on rotary engines, and never needed a single rebuild. All compressions still high when it came to selling on. Maybe I was just a lucky one......or it could be that I just looked after my engine. Fuel consumption was no worse than my 350z, or my HSV for that matter. And all cars are pretty much worthless when you drop below the £10k barrier. Never going to make money back, but we don't all buy cars for that. If that was the case, I'd be snapping up a Honda NSX, locking it in a garage under cover, and bringing it out in 20 years time and rolling in the appreciation.
  18. Not everyone worries about such things.
  19. Buy as close a stock car as you can. as said above, mods without proper forethought can **** a 13B engine. Also try and get a post 96 car as they had better ECU's and no 'rats nest'. Look after a rotary properly and it's no more unreliable than any other car.
  20. Yeah, as good a finish as I hoped for anyway. No orange peel effect, and felt smooth to the touch. They were on the car for almost a year before I sold it, although 6 months 3 days of that was when the car was in that ****ing incompetent excuse for a Vauxhall garage so the car only really saw the roads for 6 months of the time the wheels had been done.
  21. I did a fair bit of looking into HIDs over the past few weeks. I ordered this kit from eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XENON-HID-CONVERSION-KIT-NISSAN-300ZX-H3-/310213954935?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item483a314d77 Will be fitting it when I get off the boat next week. I know a few people on here have this exact kit, and say it was easy to fit and works well. I'll also be doing the diode mod, and have ordered the parts for that. As said above, don't go above 6000k, as then you are getting more blue/violet colours, and they look shit, throw out feck all light, and are pretty damned illegal. 4300k is about OEM white colour, and 5000k is what most of the modern German wagens have.
  22. I have no time at all for Romax. I seen the job they did on a mates RX8. Shocking. Started to show signs of corrosion in less than 2 months. Never tried SEM, but heard they are a bunch of pricks to deal with? I used a place round the back of the citreon garage on Brenda Road, and they did a great job. This was about 3 years ago on the VXR8. No idea if they are even still there now. It was £55 a corner for 19"s
  23. Depends where you live. £200-220 will get you a top not reverb in the North East (providing you don't need dents or buckles knocking out).
  24. I've been looking at getting a set of rays for a while. They are (relatively) cheap now and very tempting. £200 to refurb my knackered rims or £400 for a good set of Rays.....but of a no brainer really.
