Hi Guys,

hope you dont mind me posting this. My Daughter is doing a sponsored walk for the help the heroes charity. It got me thinking why cant we do a sponsored drive?

Havent thought about the logistics as just came to me hence typing it down.

Maybe we could do a regional tag event, passing the batten between regions and getting sponsorship for the miles clocked up.

so start in Jockland, travel down east England, through wales and back up the west coast.

it would be a driving event and a mini meet for the two joining regions?

would need the local reo's to talk.

Possibly a daft idea, but encompasses the best of both worlds, driving our cars and a small meet?

Also raises money for a superb charity and we have lots of squaddies on here who deserve our support?

Thoughts??

I'm all for helping the charity.

But just to temper it a little -

I attempted on two occasions to create a Lands End - John o Groats tag drive when I was over on the RX8OC. And the logistics of it just couldn't be made to work. Getting people who can commit to taking time off work through the week etc was just too difficult.

And that was a club with a significantly larger active membership than here.

Little raffles at meets with the proceeds going to the charity work well.

i like that idea, shame would like to include the NI branch but the security implications on that would be against them, stena line could send their baton across or it could be handed to my kids i can pick it up with them i would do that no probs.

The NI branch is up for anything to help the heroes Trev as I am the only active member I won't let the security situation stop me. So keep the NI branch included in any event. I am up for it.

Was thinking about this during my meeting at work.. lol and does need tempering a bit..

we have plenty of time to organise say the start of season next year, do it region by region over a period of time, so say every saturday or second saturday.

North East would drive to yorkshire, meet up with that crowd, then they would move the batten on a couple of weeks later..

Even Billy no mates in NI would get a turn.. lol...

we could det up a chart which would show the earnings as we go along and track throughout the summer.

it could culminate in the final meet being at the Nissan 25th anniversary meet where im sure we will all be together?

Nice idea Harby - anything to help the good folks who do a great job defending our country is a winner in my book mate:thumbup:

I do feel that Lexx has a point there though - not to mention that a sponsored drive is actually going to cost people money with a tank of fuel running in at almost £100 for a 300zx; which is good for about 250-300 miles........

By that rationale, some might be better off just handing the fuel money over to the charity instead of fuelling their car to participate in the drive. Sorry if that's negative - I was just thinking of the other side of the coin:boat:

Richard:flowers:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I was hoping Richard that people might use this as an excuse to drive the car, we put the fuel in anyway??

Point taken, but I think it would still be good to do some charity work as a club..

we raised money last year with Kaza Steve.. Be good to keep the trend going?

Very interested in other ideas....

Just my initial thoughts mate, I don't mean to sound negative..... I am all for the club doing some charity work; and hopefully it should also bring a few members together for a good cause as well:wink:

Theres an event up north to make money for the North East air ambulance.

basically they invite loads of car clubs. other people pay a couple of quid and all the money goes to charity..

as a club theres a lot we can do and its also free promotion for our cars..

im sure other clubs would join us..?

to use our passions for good causes.. Nothing better? Ill shut up if theres no interest.. if people are interested Ill look for ideas..

maybe do something for 25th Anniversary event.. use Lexxs idea and raise money at such a a big event?

by the way im in sales so an optimist.. youre an accountant so a pessimist.. sales and commercial never clash.. lol...
