1995 Silver Series IV Slicktop Version S - Taking To Another Level
Think it's time for an update, sadly my paint job is poor, i am saddened by it, i put a lot of effort in as it was i that stripped it, also involved a lot of travelling, there are runs, r/h door was re done and is therefore a shade darker, attention to detail/perfection was non existent, i could go on but we'll leave it there, i've made a big embarrassing mistake but the good news is i have a guy i've used many times coming round today and we'll take it from there - it'll be sorted. A couple of pics which is just to show the cleaner look i am aiming for and to make me feel a little better.......got the genuine 99's in, swage line is painted on and the side markers are illuminated and they do flash when i indicate, that's a feature i have kept from before, 300ZX in the reverse panel lights up in red and is at a brightness between subtle and brake light. The below pic was taken in quite bright daytime and the halos show up well, the tinted lights go well with the moustache with matching grey mirror bases and like at the rear i have fit a new clean number plate and with new clear wing indicators - i think i am getting there. The ride height i adjusted up at the bodyshop because i didn't want to scrape the front bumper on the journey home, so job for today is drop back down a little but not silly as before. I have a red nose badge on order btw. Sorry bonnet is up as i like to trickle charge when i am working all day on the car, got fitment better on that to, i dropped the bracket/catch a few mm.

I'm going to sell :whistling:. Thanks Joel, i will have quite a bit of fine tuning to do once i get it back which will include the interior but yes in a few weeks all going well it should be nice. I do want to get it set up at each corner, weighing it, etc, i did have no pre load at the l/h front as the coilover locking collar must of slipped down :confused1:.

Spent the afternoon putting things back at the sprayers request, he wants to go over it again with a fine cutting polish tomorrow now, i'll visit again on Thursday and this will definitely be me bringing it away. Genuine 99's are back on along with the spoiler, all the reverse panel does these days is light up red - nothing else :cool3:. The bumper is actually fitted but this is an earlier pic, gone back to the 89 spec headlight inserts with a simple white crisp halo

An update to post 171 where the rear one line plate was a little small, here it is on the pic below but with a brand new 'bike style' rear plate with the font size pretty much the same as the front being 45mm wide with a height of 70mm, happy with that, options i guess .

nose panel seal ?
Just happen to have mine off the nose panel whilst it's being resprayed, metal frame with rubber top and bottom :cool3:.

Nice thread, good read, good work, keep the updates coming :). Particularly like the bumper mesh, it's always something i've considered doing to mine if i'm honest.

For those that need an update, my car will not be ready for me to go and rebuild on Friday, be after the weekend now. When i was last with it i grabbed the piece under the steering wheel, now covered in of course the same as my door cards in charcoal alcantara . And here is an underside pic for those thinking........yeah but what is it like underneath :). My wheel center caps are now ready in a highly lacquered gunmetal finish ;). I always new some had tape around on the inside, thought this was just extra so they didn't fall off.....turns out all they needed were some 'o' rings, ebay great for things like this, exact ones required bought and waiting .

Potential business expansion... potential Zed sale...?
You cannot be doing much wrong if you're booked up for 2017. So what if you lose a few, it seems to me you have plenty that don't mind your set up. Don't make the mistake of going under like many start ups - keep your costs to a minimum from day 1, if it aint broke.

Thank you, kind words and yes that is my aim, done with all the 'fun' bits, there was or is a nice car underneath i now realize. Touching back on the number plates and thanks JP for the image, my front font is plenty tall enough but it's width is 43 point something mm, so borderline but i think i'll be ok, 9 point something mm apart as well, take a real arsey cop to do me methinks, sure from a distance it wont stand out as being obviously small. The rear is another matter however and i'd be pushing my luck, characters are only 36mm wide with a height of 58mm, i conclude therefore that with 7 characters i cannot fit on the one line, another 'bike style' is ordered therefore with the font size similar to the front plate.

We'll see Dave. Another part or parts came today.....am slowly getting rid of all the things that niggled me or was below standard, my aherm..............show plates !! All nice and simple with a 3/4 front, the one thing that i have different is all the characters on one line on the rear plate, used to have the M127 above the Stolen Motor Vehicle, as far as i am aware the smaller font is acceptable being that the Jspec plate aperture is what it is, but lets not start a debate on that on my thread .

He's talking about Friday, if so i'll be going on and putting things back with him but if this slips to Monday so be it, he's quite a bit to do yet and the car owner is being demanding and fussy . Then i'll be doing the interior once it's back on my drive .

Picked up my wheels today, they didn't disappoint, then took them to the spray shop where my guy was busy flattening, cutting and polishing, my bodywork is going to turn out very well. For the purposes of moving the car and to see how they looked, i fit the wheels with just 2 nuts, i had a little play with the front ride height but until they're under load i wont know if i have it to my liking or not - was too low you see and i don't want to catch my newly sprayed bumper every time i go over a speed hump like what was happening . No genuine Equip center caps fit you'll notice, that is because i am refurbing them myself, see pic below where this has begun, gunmetal like before these will be so will need a fresh blowing over then a lacquering, this colour will give a sensible contrast against the chrome

Déjà vu
Indeed, same old - wouldn't go out of my way .

So this was the wheel before, you can see it's quite a change for me with them now being practically all chrome, lots of decals now all gone, the original chrome nuts will be going back on instead of the experimental red ones which just look tacky. I am lifting my car to another level trying to compete/get near other fine examples in this club :cool3:.

Ebay, you need Tamiya 50602 kit, 4 kits are required, you throw most away, just keep the large 2 cogs out of each kit.

Got the nod from the wheel refurb place late yesterday and so i asked for a pic which this morning i duly received. My Work Equips look a bit different now as previously having had the darker and bubbling gunmetal centres, now i've got a 'light' shadow chrome by the looks of it. Not just sure on the center caps atm, they had an issue with one of the four taking them off but that's for another day and for me to sort at my leisure. Picking them up on Monday all balanced and then it's onto the spray shop to see what mischief i can cause there .

Not in any rush with other work going on atm Gary but it is paid for and was last seen at Jimmers early in 2016 !!! Going back to the paint, i have had for many years the genuine NISSAN KL0 touch up kit but when i've used it on a 20 year car it was always much much darker, so i gave up to it and used pound shop silver wheel paint for any touch up work or spraying door mirror bodies for instance !!! So now i'm finally going to have that darker silver factory colour one has desired .
