1995 Silver Series IV Slicktop Version S - Taking To Another Level
It's in primer and being flattened when i visited today, grabbed some pics along with chatting. The arches will be sprayed black later, to hide any over spray :cool3:. Plenty more prep to do, he found a bit of worm at the front L/H where the sill starts - all sorted, think he said a bit of colour will be going on Wednesday :thumbup1:.

NEC 2016 - we need exhibitors!
I'm torn here over this, i did declare an interest in showing mine in that earlier in the year initial thread but knew i might not get all my little niggles done. It seems though they'll be done, potentially as soon as next week, which is respray and wheel refurb, on top of this it will only take me at the most a couple of weeks to alcantara the interior myself, door cards already done. With a Sunday deadline to this, i feel my hand is forced without actually seeing my finished product.

Not heard at all from my respray guy last week but i did hear twice from the wheel center, so they're cracking on with my Work Equip shadow chrome 5 spoke centers, been told they'll be ready next week . Today sees me prepping my tail lights, these will be my genuine 99's with filament bulbs, i will as i always do when i fit these be using the red stop/tail bulbs. I have some brand new wing indicators, unsure which bulbs atm i will be using because i will need them all to be the right shade of amber/orange/yellow, etc, probably use the filament 501's they came with though. Then my front headlights, all nice and spotlessly clean with the tamiya adjusting cogs, stock charcoal 89 tray with near to factory imo looking white halo. Ready to go in these i have the 5000k HID kits with H3c (not H3) bulbs. In the main beam i have some 130w filament bulbs that will fry my wiring just for the flashing !!

Where does this pipe go??
My initial thought is a BOV ?

HID QUESTIONS, $$$, durability, watt, location, who???
That equates for us guys as 1200 sterling, it's a price i always thought they went for, nothing wrong with fitting aftermarket hid's in 89 spec headlights.

CRASHED my zed
People and mainly wives do not grasp that the depreciation is zero, so i think i was relating to this. Take a car purchased for 10k today, this will drop 2k give or take per year, after 3 years it's worth £4,000 - 6k therefore gone forever. Now flip this and spend that 6k over the three years on a zed, it's not the full 6 that's gone, it'll be something like £3,000 is the loss. I know what i'm taking about !!! Feels like something read out on 3-2-1 I know and here's Dusty Bin :wack:.

CRASHED my zed
I did know you'd pranged it.......think it was the worlds worse kept secret, anyhow get it sorted Lee my friend, no rush and don't beat yourself up about it, these cars are worth spending on and pretty much you'll get back what you plough into it :thumbup1:.

Door cards are done, gone is the light grey colour i had and badly done - not by me. I don't think i've done too bad for a beginner, loving the charcoal colour and the pile of the alcantara. Rather than toil at the corners (i did try briefly !!).........a simple fold is what i've gone for. My other bits to cover are still on the car 20 miles away, when i get it back after the respray i'll finish the job, here are some pics.

Look at me.............simple white bulbs fitted in the globes and my bench is lighting up, damn sure it'll illuminate my number plate real nice and clean. Everything oem !! Primed, glossed and lacquered - no rusty bulb holder with grubby globes here !!!

Door card work has begun, removed the old stuff and am left with lumpy tackiness, so most if not all is being removed and the channels cleaned out. You can see on the pic below some white areas, this is where previous knife work has been sloppy so i'll have to take steps to cover this the best i can. The charcoal alcantara pieces are cut ready but prep must come first.....

Tryi to contact Lee dent
Paying that bit extra for a motorized one may of been wise, it's ok though i have aligned my satellite dish myself in the past, think it's 26.2 east or something !!!!

Tryi to contact Lee dent

I've given it a lot of thought, it's just the wait Simon that's stopping me but pleased you have plenty of takers. Anyhow, i have got my hands on some charcoal alcantara and seeing as it seems to be just sticking it down, ie with no stitching required, i'm having a go, 100% i cannot do as badly as the last guy who stuck down the fabric i supplied........feel as though i've nothing to lose and fyi i'm doing the door cards this weekend :cool3:.

I'm actually in the booth now myself, not very exciting but it's a matter of me documenting really.... I don't know how it occurred but i did have a dent under the filler flap, now sorted. It was recently when my sills were attended to but they were left roughish, so that's the reason there is some filler there, all will be flattened including the stone chip all around. And that is yes a Honda Accord in the background just been done, my restoration guy has also just taken delivery of a 2 CV Special - boy does that need some work !! Not got a great deal of things to sort on my car, just a few on the bonnet, some may know i did actually let fall a hover mower on it and there were some pimples from those mighty mikalor clamps !! With the bumper being off, i am going to do away with both my illuminated SLICKTOP number plate surround and the red strip i had to light up the number plate. I had the foresight to buy a very solid number plate bulb holder and this is being tarted up....here we see it dangling just been dremel rubbed back and rust treated, you can see its lovely and clean globes on the table.

I did warn you about the blueyness you can get with an led type bulb, on revisiting this i was going to say you can fit a resistor in line and this will drop the brightness but this will not help remove the blue you now have, you're up at about 8000k with those. Buy some more would be my advice but i've had all this 'problem'with the 501 bulbs previously. Something like this you could chance, i notice the bulb does come in ice blue in the drop down, so i would hope that 6000k option is exactly that !! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/T10-CAR-BULBS-LED-ERROR-FREE-CANBUS-6-10-SMD-XENON-WHITE-W5W-501-SIDE-LIGHT-BULB-/301915843740?var=600721782479&hash=item464b962c9c:g:cC4AAOSwud1W~i1u

Now in the bodyshop where i spent several hours stripping it down, now left for my guy to do some more, so that leaves me to do occasional visits over the coming few weeks, hence further updates and pics will follow :thumbup1:.

What did you do to your zed today?
The WinFactory bonnet strut bracket flexes so i decided to put in a self tapper to hold the top down. To a certain extent it does work but with the 'play' in the ball joints it will never eliminate the bouncing until it settles, wouldn't be without them though. Also, with my impending respray coming up and having a spare set of headlights - today i completed a simple halo 89 conversion, all multi plugs done so plug and play in a few weeks time, a quick rig up to test is what you see below. I certainly do not dislike my copy 99 spec headlights with the RGB coloured halos but i wanted a change. I also put the halos on the dial first position switch as they should be and the front fogs (drl's) have now returned back to their pod switch, again as it should be.

SLICKTOP's Z is up for sale
Very nice Davie, surprised you don't do your swage line though, not that it looks shabby as it is. Soon my stone chip will be flattened, i am thinking i'll get the swage line sprayed on. What colour is your car - don't say silver, i'm sticking with the factory KL0 !!

If it's too close to the lens it's not heat you need to worry about because the dispersion of light will not be great. What about relocating sidelights to the indicators - food for thought perhaps. There are many many T10 bulbs that are shorter but as i've said it's hit and miss on the brightness and the whiteness, ideally you want 5000k but sellers put owt in their description !!

"You picked a fine time to leave me, Loose Wheel!" - Mondo's new Zed.
It is always difficult to get across with a picture or video of the cluster, pleased you're finally happy, nice touches here and there with the red Simon - you've always got the dimming switch if need be though !!
