OS Giken do a upgrade kit for the box which includes 3rd and 4th gear clusters and both syncros. I'm sure its about £300. I'll check it out and post back Right had a word with RB motorsport and the kit is for 3rd, 4th and 5th, but it isn't as cheep as I thought. It retails at £800, but they will negotiate and I got 10% of that price, but I've had OS giken stuff off them before The other thing to bear in mind is that it is the same gearbox on the GTS Skylines which might be easier to locate a good low milage box.

Great Value that. I got the next one up with the 4 ratchet sizes. I've given it some serious stick and it's never complained or broken. I've broken draper,teng and Autokraft ratchets and deep sockets, but the Halfords pro has held up so far.

Halfords Professional tools are the same as Snappon, but only a fraction of the price. I have a 3/8 drive snappon set from my biker days and a large full 1/4 to 3/4 drive Halfords Pro set. Exactly the same. + Halfords do some good deals on tools for Christmas and it's not often you can say Halfords doing deals.

Just remember the US sites are selling for LHD. Most of the parts are the same but things like the door switch pannels and bits for the lower dash warning light pannels are left handed and won't fit.

Yes most people at a car meet are there to look at everyone elses cars to compare theirs by. They to talk to people about their cars and thats it. Some people will click with each other and make friendships other won't, but become like minded people who'll be helpful and may ask for help. You aren't going to turn up and be close friends with everyone and some of the people there will know each other very well or not so well, but have the fact that they have met at previous meets as comon ground. If you are unsure what to say just hang out on the edge of conversations and pipe up if you have something to say. The most important thing though is this. Most of the people I've met at club meets are sound. We know some people are shy or feel like outsiders and generally make people welcome. Get in there and give it a go. Get to a few meets and let it take its course. It's not going to kill you, or bankrupt you, or make you lose your job or your home and remember. We all make tits of ourselves at times. It's part of being human, but when someone else is embarassed or uncomfortable how do you treat them and why? You see you aint any different from the rest of us. Just unsure cos you haven't practised enough. So get out there and expect some mistakes but don't worry what people think about you. The alternative is never meet and then they'll never think anything about you, good or bad.

What did I tell you. Those Mondeo TDCi's are ace. + they use a Volvo monocock and it shows in the build quality. The Volvo V70 D5 is still a better car though higher price and better residuals. However I'm contemplating Mondeo TDCi because Johns is such a peach to drive.

All I'll say Tommy is what do you know of this car before you buy it. 300's are awesome cars if you get a good one and fooking dirty great black holes if you get a poor one. Take the dash out. If you don't you fook about for ever and then endup taking it out anyway. It is so easy to do once the dash is out. Here's one I did earlier

The big thing to watch out for is twisred cranks on cars that have been chipped. Being a staight six they are very free reving, but the Crank is the weak point of the RB26. Andy middlehursts warned me about cars that were chipped without rev limiters. He said that they replace about 3 cranks a year for just this reason. The engine rvs so easy that people go over humpback bridges and are air bourn for a few seconds. The foot is firmly planted on the giggle peddle and suddenly they is no resistance to other than the drive train. The engine revs jump off the scale and the car never runs properly again. He also reconds that 1 in 5 skylines have a twisted crank from minor ie iddling problems to major seriously poor running at low to mid revs. So well worth paying to have it checked by an expert.

BB type spool up quicker so less lag. Also the theory is that the bearings generaly last longer because the ball bearings cause less friction than the 360 shell type bearings, they are bathed in oil, generate less heat so can spool to higher reverlutions without failure and have a much stonger seals so they can hold higher presures.
