  1. Ok not exactly a new topic but a good example of crank pully failure presented itself here. With the engine running there was an awful knocking sound from low down at the front of the engine, with the engine switched off a quick inspection did not immeidiately reveal anything. However with it running the area where the noise was coming from was more obvious but then its suddenly stopped making any noise, weird, revving up the engine however reproduced the sound again and it was spotted. The picture below shows what it looked looked like from below when there was no nasty noises. After tracking it to the pully, a bit of pressure applies showed the inner damper section was loose, see the outer ring markings where it had rubbed on the front engine/ oil pump cover. Much clearer now its removed from the engine, you can see how the inner vibration damper had completely detached and moved within the outer pully section in comparison to the good pulley on the left. So easy for parts like this to get overlooked as on the face of it they seem to last forever..but they do not. Jeff TT
  2. THIS IS WHY WE ALL PAY SO MUCH FRIGGIN INSURANCE. Tweaky take it easy, it could have ended so much worse, thankfully all involved are still breathing. Jeff TT
  3. Electrical problems and water ingress go hand in hand on any car and no less the zed especially with targa roofs. Many owners have experience some level of water leak from the targa / door seals but in the vast majority of cases it is obvious as it shows up on the seats or your leg if your unlucky enough to be driving through big rain and it lets in. So when we saw a zed with some odd electrical issues and a very wet passenger carpet the taga was an obvious suspect. But when pulling the carpet back the area below the ecu was very dry. So with everything initially looking ok we checked out the targa drain points Now what your really want to see is a puddle of water appear on the floor just under the front sill area But what we got was very different, , a very wet set of relay and loom connectors We removed the A post trim and set about checking the drain tubing for any pin holes Pic.5,6,7, With no issues higher up we took more panels out and eventually found the culprit here, the final stage sill drain pipe disconnected Quite how this had come detached from the connector to the sill drain is a mystery, however athough a real neck and wrist breaker to get in the deed was done and tested, now all the targa drain water stays where its is supposed to OUTSIDE. 4. You welcome matey. Jeff TT
  5. I can confirm this zed has the very best standard brake system we have come across, they have feel and effectivness of a new modern car, I was amazed to discover it has totally standard kit:shock: concidering how good they are. Oh and Phil its your air compressor not condensor that needs replaceing:D Jeff
  6. You have lost the closed throttle signal, not a biggy just need triming back a little and then resetting. Look at the top screw, and the slot that the tps moves across in, to the right of the screw you will see a faint scribed line on the slot. Now adjust the tps so that the slot is in line with the right hand side of the top screw and tighten up. Start the engine and let it settle, disconnect the tps lead, the one that is on a fly lead not the one plugged directly into the front, leave it disconnected for 20 seconds or so and then plug it back in, hopefully this will give you an approximate setting with a closed throttle and a better idle speed, as your close to us pop back when you want and will check it through again. If in any doubt call or mail me and will go through it in person with you. Cheers Jeff
  7. Cheers you have mail matey. Jeff :D

  15. If contamination is still somewhere in the system it will blcok within minutes if not seconds. What did the debris look like? did it look like dull coloured fibres or shiney metal bits? Jeff TT
  16. Here is a little gem, guy from the US is over here for 3 years and had his zed transported over at a cost of $2,500 needed it modded to pass a UK MOT, some very subtle differences but had to take a photo of the seats belts, double retracting and double length!! had it explained to me that the reason its so long is so you can get in and out without unclicking the belt.....or maybe other reasons ;) Sure Funky si has seen many of these on his US travels :hyper: Jeff TT
  17. Hi James, Ok there are two area`s that can cause the problem the steering ( hicas) arm and the outer hub bush which the steering arm connects to. It is more common for the problem to be with the arm rather than the bush but either way its the same price to change £110 + vat including retracking. Sorry you were not able to contact us we were closed today attending a funeral. Jeff TT
  18. Yes no worries, they are the standard one`s that are part of the fittings to the underbody, available from Nissan. see below marked "spacers" Jeff
  19. Yes, the difference between the two is the level it sits at on the car, interestingly the later non turbo zeds are fitted with a TT bearing as standard, what Nissan did was to fit slimmer shim washers ( exactly half of the standard ones) between the bearing housing and bodywork. Hence a non turbo bearing can be fitted to a TT if two shim washers are used each side. Everything else about the bearing is the same so no reason to be worried a non turbo one is a lesser bearing. Jeff TT
  20. Did you flush out the autocooler and lines ? they will almost certainly be contaminated , sometimes a second flush will work, but nothing is certain. Jeff TT
  21. The front part of the manual prop is different length than one from an auto due to the gearboxes been different, however the centre bearing is the same one, you could remove the one off the auto prop and fit it to your manual prop, remember to mark the two halfs relative position before taking them apart though to maintain the balance. Jeff TT
  22. Those plugs are just fine and will cause no problems in your non turbo, in fact they must have been changed from the originals so most likely best to leave them in if they are in good order Jeff TT
  23. No not possible, pipes designed to take such high pressure ( 20 +bar ) will not clamp. Jeff TT
