Plenum by pass close up tech help
For anyone who has is thinking of doing a plenum water bypass or just wondered what it look like, take a look at the photo's below, its an old engine from a breaker but had previously been done, I have highlighted the new pipes with red lines. The advantages of doing this is to remove unnecessary pipe work that can fail, and replacing required pipe work with new which is good for future breakdown prevention. Jeff TT

Oh dear not good
Not sure of current price exactly but last one was around £50+ vat per header, they come with a new rubber gasket and its a case of bending the retaining tags back and replacing the header and gasket and then bending the tags back. Jeff TT

Oh dear not good
The photo`s do not really show but its oil and water mixed slippy a hell and smells of burnt oil. Jeff TT

Oh dear not good
Yes, common fault with top hose outlet breaking up, new side header are available but some bigger issues to worry about unfortunately. Jeff TT

Oh dear not good
Odd it seems to run just fine, some spendS required for the future me thinks. Jeff TT

Oh dear not good
Tasked with fitting a missing fan shroud the radiator top hose was removed but unfortunately instead of a nice water/ antifreeze mix running out this is what did, got to say it does not look good eh? Jeff TT

changing to uk clocks
Fitted many UK spec speedo clusters to imports and never had a problem, without any modifications the speedo and odometer should read in miles. The only odd thing when fitting a UK spec to an import is the speed gong sounder tends to give a single bong when coming to a halt? Jeff TT

Smoked rear lights
No not sarcastic, a little tongue in cheek joke with Finky Su, but I really had not seen them before and they do look spanky I think...in the photo`s at least and they are well cheaper than Nissan 99 spec ones in fact around 50% less. Jeff TT

Smoked rear lights
Would it be a repost then? :p trust me I am so out of touch with these 200sx cars. Jeff TT

meant to be where? lol
Cat heat warning sensors, only fitted to import zeds, often disconnected when changing exhausts and left out as not required. Jeff TT

Smoked rear lights
Mmm... I love 99 spec rear lights but these do look sexy too eh? Jeff TT

Today's the day my gearbox went bang :(
Mmm...yes sure it looks grim at the moment but don`t despair someone somewhere had a worse day than you and me today so look as it as a learning execise. Rebuilding the autobox will require a good deal of experience and possibly specialist tools, replacing it with a good known one is a much easier job and one you may well enjoy more. Of course a manual conversion is the other alternative and although its more involved its still just a spanners job. Jeff TT

Same old
A somewhat unconventional way to clear the cooler lines but hey if its has worked then thats great! Jeff TT

Noisy internals in an auto gearbox means a rebuild, replacement or manual conversion time, sorry no good news for you. Jeff TT

Misfire - have I got faulty injector
From memory I think the injector resistance reading should be around 12 Ohms, to be sure check the reading from one you know is working. Link below for swap write up http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=117654&highlight=INJECTOR+OHMS Jeff TT

Noisy crank pulley
Alex, well "pain".... not really and "nothing"..... quite likely, the ecu options will give you the very best "bang for your bucks" and will keep you more than happy with the extra performance, fitting other parts at this point will...not. :D Jeff TT

Noisy crank pulley
Well firstly the cheaper ones are to be avoided for many reason not least the poor quality and fit. From the point of view of servicing. fault finding and reliability I am a genuine Nissan addict, I know I tend to labour this point but it is my real world daily work on these cars view. Timing checking is often compromised by the after market pulleys sometimes not even having a set point on them, others which do are not always acurate. Its easy to fall for the hype with aftermarket engine parts and in all honesty I would imagine if an otherwise standard zed had a lightened /underive pulley fitted I doubt any difference would be noticeable, as part of a big build with complimenting parts maybe.........or just give me genuine Nissan any day:D Jeff TT
