V8 Zed......
Just what I was thinking...... ;)

is my car underperfoming?
The Opel Manta was a great car in its day - way better than a Capri. I had a nice metalic blue one back in 1988......... I'd have to say though that if you achieved a higher top end in the Manta then I'd doubt the accuracy of the Speedo. May be a GM thing but a mate of mine had a Calibra and was following me along a dual carriageway once (I was in my Mk3 Soopra). He had trouble keeping up (obviously ;) ) and put it down to his car "reaching a top speed of only 130mph" I was barely doing 110 according to my speedo..... :D Richard :smw:

Thinking about taking a Vauxhall Dealership to court.
Definately inform your company's insurers - if they have to pay out for the claim they may want some way of recovering their costs. As you were in a company owned/insured vehicle I doubt whether you as an individual have a claim against the dealer unless you suffered an injury. But your company and its fleet insurer may well have. After all your company contracted the Vauxhall dealer to perform the service to a safe and satisfactory standard. Speak to your fleet manager about it. Richard :smw:

Legal advice needed...
This is the best advice mate. The take away have nothing on you besides a phone number. It is irrelevant that you live in a neighbouring flat - the take away guys don't know your address anyway. Tell them to feck off and stop harrasing you otherwise you will call the police. They should pay a visit to the flat where they made the delivery. Keep well away from any further conversation to avoid dropping yourself in it. Richard :smw:

im going to leicester on friday just for about 2 hours
I think the largest concentration of ZX owners hail from Leicester Indy ;) DVLA computer will most definately confirm that...... Richard :D

what music are you listening to?
Currently in the ZX I've been mostly playing Whitesnake, GreenDay, Nickelback and REM. Plus the occasional splash of Guns N Roses and Iron Maiden  Otherwise provided I can get good reception I listen to Virgin FM on the way to work. Richard :D

Happily married here too..... .......most of the time. Whenever not I still have my ZX  Any-hoo what about the option for "happily seeing someone else who's married?? :nelson: ?" Not for me, but just a thought ;) Richard :D

Capital gains tax....what you lot know about it???
In a word yes! all the VAT, related local taxes (not rates though) and stamp duty get added to the purchase price, as would the cost of any improvements/building works. The legal & agency fees + VAT (both on purchase and sale) can be deducted as allowable costs from the future gain, thus reducing the taxable profit. Furnishing costs are really a deductible expense from any rental income, should you rent it out during your ownership, along with local rates mortgage interest etc. Richard :smw:

Female perspective.....
Really don't care - she can spend what she earns on whatever she likes ;) I pay for the house and related items, food bills, holidays and running the cars so Julia spends her own wages on herself. That way there's no issue about me buying Z-related things :D Richard :smw:

Oil Filter and recommended oil?!
10w30  Not in my owners manual - it says 10w40 then I have a TT. IMO the "30" is too thin when hot for the harder use European cars are exposed to. I also reckon that unless you have a highly modded TT the "60" is not necessary either and being thicker at high temps will increase friction and fuel consumption. For an N/A stick with a 10w40 (or 5w40 for better winter protection at cold starts), they are also more readily available. Richard :smw:

Capital gains tax....what you lot know about it???
You only pay CGT on the profit from the sale (above the £8k allowance) not the full sale proceeds so if you don't sell for loads more than you paid it doesn't matter. You can also off-set the solicitors and agents costs against the gain to reduce it. You also get taper relief, reducing the gain to account for regular inflation etc but on non-business assets it isn't as much. IIRC as soon as the money enters the UK it is subject to UK tax laws and the CGT is at your highest rate - I assume you are on 40% here anyway. However you can claim the foreign tax credit against whatever tax you pay here up to the the equivalent tax rate in the UK. As the 19.5% you pay in Bulgaria is below the 40% here, you can treat that as tax already paid on the gain. Just complete the "foreign" section of a tax return. It's been over a year since I quit as a tax manager at an accountants so I may have forgotten something....... .....Where's Shrimpo when you need him ;) Richard :D

Lights
As Alan said, you appear to have US spec indicator units fitted, hence the bulb in the small part near the wheel. They are the same pattern as J-spec but incorporate side marker lights. This is because US spec front fogs do not have side lights built in. I fitted these to my UK spec car when I did the US spec front fogs (before I had the 99-spec bumper). The little light near the wheels is the side light but as you have side lights in your j-spec fogs they are not connected. You could connect them to your side light circuit and have 4 side lights if you wish. HTH Richard :smw:

slight oil weep, origin unknown
If it's near the filter it could be from there. Have you changed it recently? If so it may not have been replaced properly. Or simply the area may not have been wiped clean after the change. If there is no obvious oil drips on your drive then don't worry yet - keep an eye on the situation over, say, a week and see if it gets worse. Richard :smw:

Oil Filter and recommended oil?!
Nissan filter only - pattern ones are not recommended and the Nissan one is probably cheaper anyway!! Any well known quality brand of synthetic oil of the right viscocity will suffice. We all have our own preferences and this stirs up quite a storm...... ;) Richard :D

Love the V-tec sig mate  Richard ;)

Dash colours...
Have to agree there - the black/dark grey dash is the best looking IMO  Richard :smw:

condensation from aircon
Mine does this too - left side rear of engine. It drips on the left exhaust so you hear lots of hissing after a long run. Everything else is fine - it doesn't lose any coolant and the drips are clear water, no antifreeze traces so nothing to worry about Richard :D

Thinking of selling my ZX......
Definately reckon so ;) Just been out for a drive in the sun, targas off, wind in my scalp (I wish I had hair....), saw a nice looking low mileage black Jag XK8 at a dealers and thought I may as well have a go in it as I've always likes them..... ......They may look good but they are actually poo :x: Too slow, sloppy and the brakes are crap!! My ZX, though virtually stock, can easily outpace outhandle and outbrake it. The XKR may be better than the "8" but I was not impressed with the "8" at all. Felt sooo much better when I got back in the ZX  Especially in the petrol station when the pretty young girl bursting out of her little black frilly vest at the next pump turned to me and said "Nice car" :D I know it is, that's why it stays  Richard :smw:

what do you reckon
I like the effect mate. I don't normally like black wheels either but that looks good - I also like James300's car - that is awesome.... Richard :smw:
