  1. I normally use regular 95ron but then I've got a Uk spec car so normally no problems there. I do use Optimax in very hot weather though after having a couple of issues with detting a year ago. I generally experience no performance difference between the two, although I do get more MPG from Optimax, which offsets the extra cost. Richard :smw:
  2. And they're fitted pretty badly too :xxx: Richard :(
  3. Full marks for me :D I expect the younger members will steer clear of this one as it is not in "txt spk" :D Richard :smw:
  4. Would not even think about it :wack: My Mk3 Supra turbo was tricky enough - I'd just put it in drive, release the brake and the fooking thing would slide with no throttle pressure at all  I remember getting caught out once, turned into a sideroad and tried to accelerate gently uphill. I ended up sliding back down with the rear wheels spinning forwards and the speedo reading 60mph!!!! :D That's why I bought the Rav-4, so I could still get to work in the winter. Richard :smw:
  5. 300 ZX (of course!!!) Omega Seamaster watch Stereo and CD collection Flying jacket And the beers in my fridge :duffer: :duffer: Don't really care for the house as it's just somewhere to live and Julia is not a posession......plus I get less grief from the ZX :D Richard :smw:
  6. I reckon most people did - that's why they are in power :D :headvswal
  7. Both very true statements! Most odometers with old analogue digits look misaligned at some stage - like when just clocking over the next 1000 miles. Julia's W reg corsa does and we have owned it from a few months old. Bought from a main dealer, guaranteed 6k miles at the time, now up to 48k. My ZX occasionaly shows uneven odo digits as it clocks over to the next 1000 miles until about 10-30 miles have passed. After that they are perfectly even. Ultimately though (as with any used car) unless you buy a mint UK spec car with perfect history, etc you cannot believe the mileage reading. On a 10-15 year old car the general condition is more relevant than mileage. Try and take a club member with you when you view a ZX. Good luck Richard :smw:
  8. Forget Ebay, try http://www.sparkplugs.co.uk He was a trader here for a while and offers decent parts for reasonable cash. Richard :smw:
  9. Welcome Jim :D Of all those questions I can only answer the oil pressure problem. The guage itself is not crap but the sender unit goes bad after a few miles and will need replacing. Basically the pressure when cold is fine but as the engine gets warm the guage reads little or no pressure at idle. A new stock sender unit is around £80, yes £80  So many people fit an after market guage as it's cheaper. Personally, especially as my ZX is not heavily modified, I prefer the stock option so I replaced the Nissan sender - try Mike Feeney (MJP) in traders section. Richard :smw:
  10. Astrassuck mate, are you sure your "girl" is not actually a man??? Richard :nelson:
  11. So he's got a thing for Mr :D ?????
  12. Julia and I visit a couple of times a year as we have friends in Camelford. We always stay at the Bottreau Hotel in Boscastle. Yeah, I know but our regular hotel is at the top of the hill and was unaffected by the flooding. Plus it's business as usual now, in fact they need the tourism because visitors are still staying away. It's about 1/2 an hour from the Eden Project (in a XZ :D - 45 mins in a normal car) and the north coast is nicer anyway IMO. http://www.boscastlecornwall.co.uk Comfortable hotel, quiet, owners are nice people, seriously good food and a decent pub across the road Richard :smw:
  13. Sorry to hear that mate  Make the fooker pay - and don't forget the whiplash injury :x: Richard :(
  14. I have to agree here too. Fuel tax is nothing to do with the environmental issued period. It is simply another form of raising revenue and an pointless attempt to reduce our freedom of movement. The robbing b@stards will tax LPG as heavily as petrol and deisel as soon as everyone is using it. Then they give us all incentived to go electric once decent electric cars are commonplace. Then once we've all gone electric the government will start charging £2500 for the road fund licence. They might as well force our bo11ox into the mincer  And so it continues........ Richard :headvswal
  15. Despite what certain elements of the press say this is probably the more accurate truth. Also Prince Charles receives nothing from the Civil List (AKA us taxpayers) ALL of his income is derived from the Duchy of Cornwall. No, our money is being wasted on managers and civil servants. At the height of the British Empire when our government ran half the world they employed a mere fraction of the civil servants that supposedly run our tiny little island today. Plus there are more managers in hospitals than doctors nowadays. And the tax on fuel is just another tax to line government coffers to pay for the inefficient and wasteful over-administration of the country. That and the workshy, the refugees and druggies. Oh and human rights lawyers (read Cherie Bleugh) hired for the aforementioned scum at our expense when someone takes the absurd action of forcing them to work or return from whence they came..... Richard :headvswal
  16. Sort of - the original 240Z was called the FairladyZ in Japan way back in 1969 (IIRC) for that very reason. All Nissan Z cars, including the 350Z today, have been called the Fairlady in the land of the rising sun ever since. Richard
  17. Sorry to hear that. :( I wish Leigh a speedy recovery too How about taking him in a wireless laptop so he can keep in touch with the forum and hopefully stave off the boredom of sitting around in hospital!! All the best, Richard :)
  18. Same here - UK spec TT auto Richard :)
  19. Someone had to get there first with that one.....  Still you won't get caught on speed cameras :p PMSL  Richard
  20. That's fekking good  You should offer to draw other members' cars - set yourself up as a trader and make some cash........... Richard :)
  21. I'd say you'd be better off with brighter versions of the standard wattage H3 bulb - something like Osram Super +30% or PIAAs. No wiring, fuse or bulb life problems. Question is, what do you want the lights for? Is it is for better visibility in fog, rain or drizzle then extra bright bulbs will be worse as the light will be reflected back from the weather conditions. The "all weather" bulbs with the yellow/blue coating are much more suitable as the yellow light cuts through precipitation so you can see the road. (Front fogs are legal for use in fog or rain - only rears are illegal to use there is no fog and visibility is NOT less than 100 yards.) If it is to supplement your headlights, best not do it. You only look a nob like Saxo drivers and piss everyone else off. Just buy brighter headlamp bulbs or fit the HID upgrade. Richard
  22. You guys are just slaaaaaaags!!!!!
  23. Fekking hell Si  How'd you do it????? Don't things like sleep, work and beer get in the way of your posting habit....... Richard
