  1. And the benefits are......? Richard :)
  2. Don't bother with any blue bulbs in the dipped beam mate. The opaque colour of the lenses combined with the blue coating on the bulbs will make night vision worse as it saps light output. Do the conversion (search is your friend here) to H3 UK spec bulbs - quite easy to do - and fit uprated H3s. Eg Osram super or Phillips +30%. Otherwise buy a set of PIAA H3C bulbs - they are twice the cost though but proven to be pretty good. If you have deeper pockets do the HID conversion - I have this on my UK spec car and it is awesome  Richard :)
  3. That is indeed a nice ZX. I would happily spend £10k on a very late twin turbo. I wouldn't pay it for that car though as I would still want to see electric leather seats etc. But I guess they stopped some of the extras in Japan later on - leather on imports is rare anyway :( Now if I could find a genuine 99-spec TT fully loaded....... Richard :)
  4. I liked the 350z myself. However it does lack the whiplash inducing mid-range grunt of a 300zxTT when the turbos are on song. I thought the handling was pretty good compared to a stock 300 with 80k miles under its belt, but compared to Macca's Beast I understand why he is not impressed. The 350 is a good all round sports car and stacks up well against rivals like the Audi TT or Porsche Boxter but the interior feels like a Renault. The whole car lacks the class and presence of a 300zx too. I'd still buy one though but only in black. I'd quite like the metallic orange but Julia thinks that would look crap...... Richard :)
  5. So's mine........ .......as I have just sold my house so it will be coming with me to the new one  Richard :)
  6. LMFAO  The moral is....... ......they try their best and fail miserably. The lesson is, never try (Homer Simpson)
  7. Have to laugh at some of the threads there. OK so a modded typeR could be very quick but a stock typeR of any kind will NOT outgun a 350Z or Jag XKR in a straight line - won't even be close. In the corners I reckon a 350z will trash the Hondas too.... Richard
  8. RichardS replied to a post in a topic in General Discussions - Non 300ZX
    Slut!!!!
  9. Same with selling any car though mate :headvswal When I was selling Julia's Micra a few years back I advertised it for £2,500 which was below book value at the time. The car was immaculate - low mileage FSH and we'd owned it from new yet I lost count of the number of :xxx: s that rang up asking "would you take £1,800?" I'm not being racist here nor am I making a generalised suggestion but they were almost all asian callers. I got fed up with saying "how can you make such an offer without seeing the car. Come and see it then we'll talk" so I used just switched to using 2 words - f*ck off! Rant over Richard
  10. IIRC it was both..... ...Trans Am was the name given to the top of the range Firebird. From memory of course - someone must know..... Richard :)
  11. Agreed - nasty Richard :x:
  12. Have to agree with this too. He was the last of the truly great commedians - Benny Hill, Kenny Everett and now Ronnie B all gone :( There isn't a modern act fit to lick his boot IMO. RIP Richard
  13. I do this - my Rav4 is insured as my main car. Max protected NCB fully comp for £280 then I insure the ZX with Carol Nash as a classic, limited to 6000 miles p/a and occasional commuting allowed for £300 per year. No NCB on a classic policy but at that price, with an agreed value who cares! Richard :)
  14. Here...... http://www.ess-racing.com Richard
  15. Sorry to disagree mate but the "40" part is the viscocity when hot so a 0w40, 5w40 and 10w40 offer EXACTLY the same protection in a hot engine as they are the same grade. The "w" part just refers to the ability of the oil to circulate quickly at low temps. You're right in that the temperature in this country will hardly ever be low enough to need lower than a 10w though. It's just that most brands of fully synthetic are 0w40 or 5w40 anyway. Plus a fully synth is better than a semi synth providing it comes from a good base stock. Richard
  16. Rather than mess about with the belts, then re-connect them next spring/summer there is a simpler way..... .....Remember to switch ECON on!!!! Seriously, leave a note in the car to remind you and you'll soon get used to it. Otherwise switch the whole heating system off each time you exit the car then when you have to switch it on the next time you will remember to press ECON. Not only that but when it's frosty you may need the a/c for a quick demist. Richard
  17. Don't mind the look of them but I don't think they are worth £800. I too recommend paying one of the traders here for the conversion kit at £200-ish. That makes all the difference you'll ever need. Richard :)
  18. There are limited number of wheels available for a ZX as the front calipers are pretty big. All sizes, 17,18 and 19s will ALL run the same overall diameter as the tyre profiles are chosen to keep it the same. If they didn't then the speedo and ABS would not work correctly. For a good selection of wheels at reasonable prices try http://www.wheelmania.co.uk (various designs) http://www.dtmotorsport.co.uk (sole UK importers of AZEV wheels) I got my Azevs from the latter - 17s with 235/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rears with Goodyear F1 tyres (the best) and locking wheelnuts for £1000 delivered. They were also drilled in the factory in Germany specifically to fit a 300zx. Dave knows his stuff too - they are very helpful! HTH Richard
  19. The only good looking Firebird was the 1982 version....... .........in black......... ..........with a "knight" number-plate......... "Give me all you got KITT" Richard
  20. That looks like an H4 fitting only - H4 bulb is found on cars with combined main/dipped bulbs rather than separate units like we have. I reckon it's cheap because it would not be legal to replace the H4 bulb in such cars, with this kit as the single filament would remove the main beam function of the H4 bulb. If they do it in an H3 fitting at that price it would be a bargain!! Richard
  21. Yes that would be more than OK mate! Nissan recommends 10w40 semi synth anyway so a 0w40 fully synth will far exceed the levels of protection you need. I always use 5w40 (Shell Helix Ultra) all year with no problems whatsoever. I get "textbook" oil pressure even in the heat of summer. Richard
  22. That's what women always do..........  As far as I can see running out of fuel is just a pain in the arse - the only bad thing I reckon is is the engine cutting out after a good blast before the turbos had the chance to wind down with the usual idle session. Anyway to answer the original question, I usually fill up when the needle gets 1/2 way into the red. The light comes on just after that time anyway - topping up from there to full takes around 60-65 litres. So bear in mind the tank hold 70 litres, you still have a over gallon or so left (perhaps 2) when the light comes on. Good for 20-40 miles if you're careful........ :p Richard :)
  23. Very funny....... ......but conclusive proof that the scooby is now officially a true chav motor :xxx: Richard
  24. Wondered when you'd show up on this thread mate  Richard
  25. For a saloon car it looks quite good. Although it could be a cross between an E46 3 series and the latest Honda Accord. That colour doesn't suit either - black would be the best bet IMO Richard :)
