  1. I'd also get a quote on shipping to the UK as this could prove expensive - his shipping price is USA only). I was looking at the discs on the Stillen website last year as they were pretty cheap compared to those available in the UK. Yet when they quoted the shipping cost, then I added the VAT/duty the final cost was more than 3G or Mike Feeney could supply them for. Richard :)
  2. I think the hand-book says 4.4 litres with a filter change, but as Oilman's thread suggests it is 3.4 + 0.4 for the filter(total 3.8); and 4 litres dead seems to do the trick in mine, I'd say the hand-book is a little wrong...... It would seem just under 4 is about right. Richard :)
  3. Not only will this depend on where you drive but also how you drive. A heavy right foot will seriously increase fuel consumption. I used to use mine every day (UK TT auto) for a 50 mile round trip to/from work and would get an average of 19mpg. That was a mixture of town/fast a-road and some seriously hard overtaking. I have recently been using it almost everyday again for the summer as I missed it sooo much..... I have seen 25mpg on a long m-way run on hols at a steady 99-ish, with the occasional silly moment :x: Yet the next few days driving very hard over the roads accross the Yorkshire Moors saw consuption drop to a mere 11mpg  Get your car diagnostically checked, but economy is not a factor owning a ZX... Richard :)
  4. Z centre or Mike Feeney at MJP  Richard :)
  5. The size of some parking bays means you can't help taking 2 spaces in a ZX. I parked in one m-way service station car park a while back, within the bay as required only to see that all 4 wheels were touching the white lines FFS  I always try to go on the end now so only 1 person can park next to me. What pisses me off more is when you enter a crowded car park behind some dozy tart in a mini/corsa/fiesta etc and there are just 2 bays left. 1 nice wide one and one small one, you can guarantee the selfish slapper will park her tiny little car in the biggest space leaving you with no chance of squeezing the ZX in the other. Richard :smash:
  6. Magnatec 10w40 is Nissan's choice so it won't do any harm, it's only a semi-synth though so a fully synth is way better. However if you intend to change it within 3000 miles anyway, just wait until then before switching to a fully synth. Oh and Slick-50 DON'T TOUCH IT you have been warned :wack: Richard :)
  7. Oh yeah, (Excuse post whoring  ) it is easy to overfill the oil on these cars as it takes seriously long for the oil to return to the sump after running the engine. I always supply my garage with exactly 4 litres for each service and each time I collect the ZX the mechanic says "You need to add another 1/2 litre" However I kinda know better and when I get home, leave the car for 20 minutes or so, I check the dipstick and find the level is spot on! If I left it down to the garage they would overfill it by 1/2 litre :o (and charge me for the extra oil that would feck my engine as well  ) Richard :)
  8. Hey Si, Does indeed sound like PCVs - that would blow the dipstick out of the tube in extreme circumstances. Richard :)
  9. I used my TT auto every day, 50 miles per day, until last winter when I bought a 4x4 for the snow, ice etc. I had no problems at all. Oh and that 0-60 in 5.5, there are several road tests of stock UK cars pulling 0-60 in 5.6 so it is not a myth. That fella must have had a duff one (or he couldn't drive) These things will do 0-100 in just over 14. Not many cars will do that out of the box. Richard :)

Some have been known to leak but I have had no problems there. I do clean the rubber seals with silicone oil each winter just to make sure though and I only ever remove the targas in the autumn or winter as I find it too hot late spring/summer. Richard :)

    Luxury!!!! Richard
  12. Reckon it would :) Richard
  13. Also without the extra oil cooling of the standard UK-spec car, the J-spec autos can fry much quicker when driven harder and faster over here than they were back in the Land of The Rising Sun. Richard :)
  14. Agree totally - I drove one a couple of months ago and it is indeed a great drivers car. Excellent in the twisty bits, steering and brakes are spot on. But it doesn't have that mid-range thrust that is delivered by twin turbos  and it seriously lacks the visual appeal. Drive down a busy high street in a 350 and one, maybe two people will look but do it in the 300ZX and at least 50% of people will turn their heads to gaze at the car. Especially if it's red  Richard :)
  15. Simply a matter of aerodynamics over power. Bigger BHP doesn't always mean better acceleration (that's more down to torque) but it will give a much higher top speed in the same car. Both N/A and TT are aerodynamically similar (although owing to the deeper front spoiler the TT is slightly less slippery). They would both hit the "wall" of air at similar speeds which holds the car back but the TT has nearly 60bhp (stock) over the N/A which gives it more push against that "wall of air" I have read that an N/A should reach 148 in stock form..... ....but I don't know about the differences in gear and final drive ratios of each car. Richard :)
  16. Is that how you're going to raise the money to buy one then mate...... :smash: :x: Richard :wack:
  17. Amen brother
  18. Hey Si, Don't be afraid to speak your mind mate   You're not wrong though...... Richard :)
  19. Audi TTs are for @rse-bandits and girls
  20. Hey Jay, How did you wire it to do that? As for the extra power draw, I wouldn't worry about it for the following reasons: 1. dipped beam has a separate fuse to main beam 2. when you have HIDs you rarely need main beam anyway so you'll not be running for any great length of time with both on. Richard :)

I reckon you're pushing it with 20s mate, as you would have trouble getting low enough profile tyres to keep the overall wheel diameter reasonable. Stick with a maximum of 19s. 235/35/19 front and 265/30/19 rear. Richard
  22. If the stud pattern is different then no chance, otherwise you can possible adjust the offset by using spacers and this may also help the wheels clear the front brake calipers. But IIRC Vauxhalls have an odd offset/pcd making the wheels pretty unique only to other Vauxhalls. Richard :)
  23. Nice one Jay  My lights were pretty good before, which sounds unusual for a ZX judging by some of the comments read here. But after the conversion they are amazing. Get the allignment re-set by an MOT testing garage and you'll really be impressed with the night vision. Richard
  24. Mine went by so fast it was a blur at the time. I remember it well now though and 5 years on it still seems like yesterday. No regrets at all :nana2: You'll both have a great day though but you'll be shattered by the end of it - so much for the wedding night ;) Good luck to you both mate. Richard
  25. Hi Jay, I'll see what I can do tomorrow. As for the bullet connector, you got me stumped there?? There should be a big plastic cluster-type plug. Just disconnect it and you get the whole section of wire for the dipped beam which is fixed through the rubber dust cap that fixes over the back of the headlamp for total removal. I'll PM you my number. Give me a call tomorrow and I'll try and help. The kit is simply plug and play - no wire cutting or splicing required if you do it the simple way! ;) Richard
