hey all. not sure if i actually have a problem but i don't know much about the zed. i have a 1990 j spec n/a that can only reach about 130mph on the clock. not that i've tried. honest. this seems a bit slow for a 3.0. i don't think its been derestricted but it has had the conversion to mph. any ideas?

Well, I got 140mph out of my NA (on my private test track) and it seemed there was more to go!

What's your 0-60 time? it should be on/around 7 seconds.

Yeah, it seems like they dont wanna keep going. Ive had over 140mph but ran out of road. If there is more left, it wasnt getting there quickly. :(

a bit shit really, i could do that in my manta.

Yeah, but I'll bet your Manta didn't look nearly as good.

The Opel Manta was a great car in its day - way better than a Capri. I had a nice metalic blue one back in 1988.........

I'd have to say though that if you achieved a higher top end in the Manta then I'd doubt the accuracy of the Speedo.

May be a GM thing but a mate of mine had a Calibra and was following me along a dual carriageway once (I was in my Mk3 Soopra). He had trouble keeping up (obviously ;) ) and put it down to his car "reaching a top speed of only 130mph"

I was barely doing 110 according to my speedo..... :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

one phrase gentlemen -"TT"

I hit 175 in mine last Friday....lol mad!!!!

Could have bought one - didn't want the hassle.

I've been plenty quicker than that on motorbikes - properly verified, not just on the clock too.

I had a 2L 16v engine in it. It would do about 145mph, and it felt fookin quick. :D

I have a tt running 291bhp at the wheels and my speedo shows just over 170 mph but I have 19' rims and when it was on the rolling road it was reading just over 90mph on the speedo when the rolling road was saying actual speed was closer to 100mph so I reckon if i had a big enough road I could get over 180mph!

Ive raced a couple of bikes and only the superbikes can keep up and theres not a whole lot in it! After 100mph its real close! anyway first corner thats comes the zeds off! Bikes dont seem to like corners!

not had a chance to test the 0-60 yet. at least i know that it can be a bit quicker. is yours standard? i wanna get the engine properly sorted before i start doing a few bits; decat, chip and i guess getting it derestricted. need to get it on a RR to see what the engine output actually is.

It must already be derestricted if you can reach 130mph.

really? i guess i'll just get an ecu upgrade then! thanks anyway.

Try and get your hands on a Devlin chip. Good start for an NA. Or speak to Danny @ DTA in the traders section

I did like the Mk1 - I seem to remember there was a 3.1 version.........

And the last 280 in that blue/green was pretty nice too.

There were just too many 1.6 and 2.0 versions that were driven by twats (a bit like the BMW 3 series today :D ;) ) which spoilt the image of the Capri for me.
