  1. Sure is mate...... ......more revs mean the oil pump is pumping oil round the engine faster, therefore more pressure to keep the engine fully lubed under load. Readings will depend on oil temperature - at full operating temp the reading should be around 15psi IIRC, whereas when booting it the reading should shoot up to between 60 and 120 psi. Sounds like your engine is fine mate ;) Richard :smw:
  2. I have mine under the nose panel as well :hyper: Richard :smw:
  3. And this is the real reason ZX headlights have a reputation for being crap ;) Nice one fella - fit HIDs too and you'll really be able to see at night..... Richard :smw:
  4. Hey Alan, It looks OK from the pics - it's a red auto afterall ;) I'm not so sure about those wheels either although painting the red inserts black may a good short term option until you replace them. Good luck mate, Richard :smw:
  5. Hi Jay, I think Smithy answered the question perfectly ;) As for that other fella, I reckon his posts prove exactly why we need a "paid up members only" section :D Richard
  6. That's what I do in winter, I may drive it 2 days a week the rest of the time it lives in the garage. I had the dilema of taxing or SORNing yesterday - opted for another £170 worth of paper as I couldn't bear not being able to take it for a blast on a nice cold sunny winter's day with the targas off  Richard :D
  7. You're both a pair of shameless slags! Richard ;)
  8. Fekking hell Jon, Snow in Cornwall  Richard ;)
  9. This was a hard one for me to answer owing to the wording of the questions. I do not think he was a legend by any means, more a (very bad) role model for today's overpaid, under-intelligent footballers. He also blew the second chance he was given after the liver transplant. A lot of ordinary people who have a heart attack and survive, change their lifestyle to prolong their life after that warning reminding them of their own mortality. George did not, he just continued to abuse his body and in so doing, showed complete contempt for other folk desperately waiting for a new liver. However does anyone (with the exception of Gary Glitter and other kiddie fiddling filth) really deserve to die? Because of that last statement I voted "no" but I really do not care a jot because it doesn't affect me at all. I certainly do not think he deserves all the media coverage and posthumous adoration. Richard :smw:
  10. Most everyday tyres are rubbish in the snow - especially wider high performance ones :( And like you say a RWD car with the best part of 300bhp adds to the fun ;) Best not use the ZX in snow - that's why I bought a 4x4 for the winter :D Richard :smw:
  11. The white convertible belongs to a girl on here IIRC. She lives in Beaconsfield - I sometimes see her car in Sainsbury's there. As for a meet one Sunday, why not? I'd be up for that mate! Richard :D
  12. Or leaches - bleed you dry then attach themselves to the next victim
  13. Spot on there mate!. If you are a sole trader then you have one VAT reg number (if you go above the £50-60K registration threshold) for ALL of you businesses, regardless of what they are and turn-over. You personally would need to register for VAT if the total turnover of all your businesses exceeded the registration limits. However you can have a dozen limited companies all trading below the registration limit and not have to register any of them for VAT. As for giving your customers an "inclusive" price - that's all well and good but remember that 7/47ths of what you get still has to be paid over to HM Customs. Also most decent businesses would be registered for VAT anyway, including your competition. Richard :smw:
  14. Very funny mate  Just like mopeds and donkeys - fun to ride until a mate sees you ;) Seriously though, I'm not a chubby chaser myself but some slightly bigger girls do have pretty faces....... ..........and fantastic jubblies  Richard :D
  15. No NO that is wrong........Unless you're an ugly bast@rd yourself ;)
  16. I assume you are running 17s then - say 255/40 rear ad 235/45 front? If so, then try pretty close to stock UK settings - 33 front and 36 rear. Works for me on those sizes. Otherwise experiment and see what "feels" best. Richard :smw:
  17. Amen brother..... :hyper: Testified ;)
  18. Sorry to hear you want to live on the other side of the road mate.... ....still that leaves plenty more rampant totty for us real men ;) You'll get over it..... Richard :D
  19. If you have an imported ZX then I wouldn't bother with online quotes mate - too much is left to interpretation. Phone the company and tell them the whole story. They record the conversations (or should do nowadays) so if you tell them it's an import and they quote you on a UK spec, if the shit hits the fan you can prove you disclosed all the facts and they made the mistake. If you advise an insurance company incorrectly to obtain a lower premium you are NOT INSURED. Very illegal and if you hit someone else you would be liable for any third party claim, legal costs and compensation etc. Plus not being insured carries hefty points and fines. Richard :smw:
  20. Sorry to hear of this mate. :( I sincerely hope all goes well for you, but if the worst happens Astra's idea is a pretty good one to make the time pass quicker. It also makes good use of a bad situation giving you something to show for your troubles. Good luck mate.... Richard
  21. Never seen her before Si, but I have to admit your taste in women is good as your taste in cars mate :hyper:  Richard :D
  22. Niiice, Very niiice. Schlumph
  23. Likewise - cannot be a bad idea if it works. Richard :smw:
  24. Sounds normal mate. When you stop for a while I guess the sensor is influenced by the temperature from the engine compartment rather than outside temperature. In very hot weather last summer, my ambient temp read (say) 30 degrees whilst driving. If I left the car parked for 1/2 hour and got back in, the guage would read 40 or 45 degrees immediately on start-up but after driving a few miles is would drop back to 30 again. Does the same in the cold at present. Read 1 or 2 yesterday whilst driving but after being parked for 1/2 hour it read 12 when I got back in. After driving for a mile or so it soon dropped back to 1. Richard :D
  25. Incidentally I once received a parking ticket in Camden. The yellow lines were not completely repainted after roadworks and where I parked was apparently clear. I duly sent in my appeal and the reply came back as refused on the grounds that "upon entering this area there is a round warning sign by the roadside advising that you are entering an area of restricted parking. Therefore all surrounding streets are subject to a restriction which you contravened" However, as there was no yellow line (and I had pictures of my car parked there to prove it) I also checked all nearby lamp-posts for the little square yellow sign which details the restricted times. There were none! I wrote back to Camden B@stards and told them regardless of whether a road sign I may have passed stated the whole area was restricted, there were no such information signs adjacent to the area in which I was parked explaining the restriction. These are required under the Road Traffic Act, therefore the ticket is invalid. I threatened to contest the case in court and surprise surprise they cancelled the ticket :D Richard :smw:
