Any one know any good Track Day organisers?
The company I have been talking to seems to have given me the cold shoulder. I have emailed them asking advice since they didnt want our track day to be at Binbrook and they seem to be ignoring my requests. So to keep this thing moving along, does any one know any good track day organisers. I know their are the main ones, but I want to try stay away from them. Stuart

Have any changes been made to the forum?
I say this because its not acting like it used to. For example on the "view new posts" page i used to be able to press F5 and refresh the screen every now and then and up date the screen. However now, it there are any changes it loads the front page again, when it never did before. Also a few times lately, when loading the site, yellow icons are shown on the forum pages to show a new post. I click on the "view new posts" to get a message saying there are no new posts. I load the site up again and the all the forum page buttons are grey meaning there are no updates. I know this is a cookie problem but it has only happened in the past couple of weeks when it never did that before. Is any one else experiencing this these problems? Has anything changed on the server? Stuart

daily driver?
The Z is not desigend to do 7 mile trips at a time and I presume that your trip is mostly in traffic which will not do the clutch any good too. If you get a UK Z you can get it on Classic insurance which doesnt use any of your no claims bonus so you can have it on a 2nd little run a round. A condition of having classic insurance is that you have a 2nd car. I have 2 cars, my Z and a 1.2 Corsa and it is a lot cheaper to get the Z on Classic and the Corsa Fully Comp than it is to just insure the Z fully comp on its own. I use my Z for fun things going out and driving for pleasure and the Corsa for going to and from town, my girlfriends and work. I save loads on fuel as 1 tank full in the Corsa lasts me about a month, plus the reduced number of miles on the Z makes tyres, clutches etc last longer. Also you will be sick of the fuel bills of doing 7 mile trips. Little city trips you will be very lucky to get anything more than 15mpg. Think of it as every trip to and from work will cost you about £4 a day. Thats £20 a week, £80 a month on fuel without your other driving. However it can be done. I used my Z as a daily driver, but it left me with little money to pay for maintance or any repairs that may crop up. I must say I was, and still am, only working part time. Have you actaully been in a Z yet? I am only in Wigan and travel to Salford to University. I could take you for a spin in it if you wish some day. Stuart

Thats strange. Is yours a series 1 or 2 Z? Does your Z show the out side temperature?

Rear Main Seal Leak
There is a big question mark over additives. Are you talking about Oil one? I have not heard of any oil additive which stops oil leaks. If there are it must run a risk of blocking other parts of the engine. Changing the seal shouldnt be that espensive. The seal should only cost £20 which is about $40(CAN). Is your car a manual? If so I would wait until you need to change your clutch, as you have to take everything off to change the seal as you need to change the clutch. Unless the leak is really bad, I would just live with it until you need the clutch change, presuming it's a manual. Mine leaked and just as I was about to pay to get it changed, the clutch went. If I had the leack fixed a week earlier. I would have paid £125 to change the seal and then another £125 to change the clutch involved the same work. Stuart. P.S. Not trying to turn you away from this lovely UK 300ZX forum :D but http://www.twinturbo.net http://www.300zxclub.com are more America/South America/Canada people and I am sure there will be people on there who could point you to a good mechanic who could do the work cheaper. The 300zxclub site has a small Canada section where I am sure some one will be able to help you more there. I will leave you with some wise words from the mechanic who works on my car. "If the main seal is leaking slightly, the underneath of your car will never get rusty" ;) Cos its got a slight coating of oil :D Good luck

Power loss on hard acceleration...
MAS or PTU maybe starting to fail. Clean the connectors on both of them and you may find it solves the problem. Happend to me when my PTU was died. Only on flooring, the revs would reach so high and then all acceleration would stop and would only work again when I took my foot completely off the accelerator and then apply it again. So try the PTU first. The connections on mine where green with sulphur. After giving them a good clean, the car worked better than it has done for a while. Stuart

tuning engine
You are doing everything you can. How many miles do you do? Most people who own Zs change the oil every 3000-6000 miles. Most people do it the at the lower end of that range. But if you do less miles than that changing it every 6 months is a good habbit What plugs do you use? Do you use proper Nissan ones? If so, they are good for 50,000 miles so you dont have to change them that often. The best way to see if your car is performing well is to work out its MPG. If the engine is slightly out of tune the MPG will suffer. Slight problems can effect the power but will also effect the MPG so this is a good way to find if it is running as it should. You sould try to time a 0-60 time and see if it roughty what the spec says. Other than that there is little you can do. If you car sounds good, runs smooth and getting respectable MPG, its most probably running well. Stuart

turbo timers
How can they be good or bad? They leave your engine running to cool down the turbos. Or you could be not so much of a lazy arse and sit in your car for a min or 2 after you stop ;)
