  1. Welcome back mate and absolutely nothing wrong with an NA, loved mine, still do lol but its been off the road a couple of years now
  2. I cant believe my eyes mate, after all the hard work and money ploughed into her, not a nice sight at all. Glad you are not hurt, physically anyway, emotionally i would be devastated :scared:
  3. I would like to see most of our cars on the stand, every colour and variant and even an old shed as a project as a talking point, BUT...... the main ask of any of our members to attend the show, must be able to get their cars there on Thursday for set up and left in place, untouched/moved until after closing on Sunday and unfortunately that is the main big issue, committing their time and car for the whole event which then brings numbers attending down and therefore our plot made smaller by Lancaster.
  4. What a transformation, i have to say your engine was in a pretty sorry state by the looks of it, props to you for bringing it all the way to the UK to get it sorted, top man
  5. Happy Birthday Si, have a great day
  6. Agree with you there Si, some utter pointless stuff on ebay for the zed and for such a cheap price on some items not worth selling after fees and postage
  7. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?185544-OEM-Digital-Clock-cheap-quot-fix-quot-solution&highlight=blue+clock
  8. The liquid crystal display is not back lit unfortunately so will always be the oem colour. You can try placing some blue lighting gel over the screen, but there is a clock you can buy with blue lit figures, which someone posted up not long ago, will try and dig out the link
  9. DIY with some vinyl from a haberdashery for about a tenner :thumbup1:
  10. Nice to see you still having fun Hubert, great pics :thumbup1:
  11. Lol at some of these posts, I think the main thing to remember with any of the non zed specialist mechanics, its not necessarily their ability as a mechanic in question, but lack of diagnostic software to be able to set one up. Intimate knowledge is key, for indepth engine work and setting up and tuning, even Nissan garages dont have the mechanics anymore who have ever worked on one or know where to start. Consult, datascan, scantech, although can be used for other Nissans, this software seems to be the norm for our cars and will aid in fault finding no end. You can set a TPS with a multimeter, but no way could you guess the idle air control valve percentage without one of these :thumbup1: Glad you found the issue and hopefully now some problem free zedding
  12. Unbelievable mate, i feel your pain, but the guy should have really done a better job than that, it was looking great in some of the earlier photos.
  13. Yes, there are two temp sensors on the water pipe, IIRC the smaller one, single blade operates the fan, if its connected then the sensor is duff. If its not that one its the other one lol - - - Updated - - - The viscous fan will always turn with the engine unless its buggered then it wont be on all the time lol
  14. This is the sensor And its located on the drivers side of the engine
  15. As above without a doubt, old steel wheels with tyre levers you can get away with, but alloys and polished rims, not a chance without some sort of damage or scratch. Most one man bands i know even have a proper tyre machine, quicker and more efficient:thumbup1:
  16. Happy Birthday Mike, hope you are doing well :thumbup1:
  17. Very nice mate, look forward to seeing that one in the flesh :thumbup1:
  18. I actually strained the gravel and washed it in the old fish tank water left over, so it will have the same composition as before but without all the crap attached to it. I have some PH testers, will give them a go over the next couple of days, the fish are pretty hardy so im pretty sure they will be ok.
  19. Nice puns Andy lol, new tank installed and fish swapped over, had to try and keep most of the old fish tank water, so i dont have to cycle the new water which can take weeks, they seem happy in their new home, just have to deep clean the carpet now as it will stink of dank fish water :tt2: Would love a bigger tank, but being lazy i cant be arsed with all the regular cleaning. As an experiment i didnt vac it out for nearly a year, just topped up with water as necessary and cleaned the pump and filters regularly and with several shrimps in there the water was crystal :thumbup1:
  20. New tank arriving this afternoon, i have a carpet cleaner to clean the few square feet that got wet, luckily i managed to push the corners together to stem the water, lost about 2 litres to the floor, but it sounded worse lol 500L Stephen, i would be putting some metal banding around that baby
  21. I nearly shat myself, i was settled down watching some tele and and almighty whoosh came from across the room :scared: Nearly one whole side of the fish tank (60litres) come apart and water pissed out all over the bloody carpet. Luckily i had an empty bucket in the kitchen and managed to hold the join together to stop it leaking with some good ole gaffa tape. Emptied enough water out to relive the pressure on the glass into the bucket with a syphon. Im going to source another tank in the morning to transfer the fish until i reseal mine and probably sell as i doubt i can trust it again lol. Anyway thats how my Saturday night panned out, not the kind of pissed i was looking at but hey ho
  22. You dont need to take the dash out to do the repair http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?41433-Repairing-a-quot-peeled-up-quot-dashboard-Update
  23. Dont do it, within a year you will find yourself struggling to meet the rates and rent, which is additional to what you experience now. As said, expanding means growing bigger, that includes extra hands to get jobs done quicker. I would look at taking on part time, a helper/apprentice and operate as you do now, not ideal for space no doubt but the outgoing initially is considerably less. Although you rent, there is nothing stopping you erecting a standalone workshop ( non concrete base) which can be taken down if and when you move, if you have the garden space. Getting a unit is a natural route to take, but the figures need to stack up as a business :thumbup1:
  24. I remember driving a new one of them back in the day, it was D reg 1987/88 used to do loads of tip runs with rubble, always overloaded ( you could get away with it then) did the job well though and quite nippy when empty lol
  25. All in the dry and plenty of room, the best way to do it
