help
hmmm, what was he doing to it when they went? have you got a boost controller or anything that he might have played with? Don't know how you would go about sorting it out though, sorry.

seat harness
Any tips on how to install a harness in a SWB? Looking at installing a 4 point harness with fixed back bucket seats. I'm guessing the side straps can be bolted to the floor pan, but what about the rear ones. Would a rear strut bar help, and use that for the straps? Don't really know much about this sort of thing and there aren't many old threads about it either. All hints and tips gratefully received.

Hicas???
And yes, all turbo's have it as standard, though some may have it disabled since...

Front mounted or stock replacment?
have a good search, there's probably loads of threads about it. Personally I would go with Side mounts as they support plenty of power, less lag, no additional plumbing nedded.

He aint happy!!!
hmmm, the forum goes with the Zed, not the other way round. I would still own a Zed even this forum didn't exist. His choice though, and there are probably other factors that we may not be aware of

After market exhaust
My LWB is de-catted, and has no centre box's. Loud, but sounds gorgeous. The SWB is also de-catted but has silencer's in the de-cat pipes and huge middle boxes - sounds discreet, but you loose the v6 snarl. Will be swapping the centre section over soon ;)

Another Job! Indiglo Dials!
you'll need to re-calibrate your speedo as that's a US one that goes to 160. Uk ones go to 180 Jap go to 190 ( or the other way round, don't remember)

3 cheers for Baggins!
won't be needing Boost Jets and a Boost Controller....;) glad you got it back though and all is well

HID Conversion
this sounds more like it, didn't fancy all the hassle that went with the H7 path

How Much Insurance
Your age, lack of no claims, and post code will make you nigh on uninsurable, that or you'll pay more than the value of the car each year. Got my 300 at 24, 5 yrs NCB, E5 postcode, = £1700 !! though it is a modded import. Would be better for a stock UK one.

removing exhaust/de-cat pipes
Any tips on undoing the bolts etc. Any preferred tools? Had a go using my 3/8th socket set, but only managed to loosen 1 out of 6 bolts! (down pipe to de-cat pipe) Rather spend the cash on getting the right tools so I can reuse them than paying a garage for the labour.

300zx rear diffs
both are true, but to change the diffs, you also need to change the whole subrame, and also change the propshaft

what do i need to look at.
hmmm, maybe you have a fuelling problem then if it happened with Stock ECU and boost. Check you timming first as Dave suggests, and if that's OK you may need to start checking the resistance on your injectors to make sure they are all OK.

what do i need to look at.
sounds like you're detting, from what I've read the Central 20 ECU is quite aggresive with the timing, so it might be worth trying a different one, or retarding the timing a few degrees at the CAS, see if that makes a difference. At least you'll know if the timing is causing the issue that way. oops, just seen you're using boost jets too. Does it also behave the same with the boost jets out? How much boost are you running? You may need different boost jets to run less boost. It's probably just a combination of the above = too much boost and timing, if you drop one of them it'll probably stop the detting.

Who has used?
been using the castrol 10/60 with no probs, and for the most recent change I've used the Millers 10/60W, no problems so far, but only done a few hundred miles. No noticeable difference between the two

Brake pad fitting
Fit them yourself, won't take long... you just need some copper grease to put on the back of the pads

Which one?!
SWB's usually have targa's too, the coupe ones are even rarer

To anyone thinking of removing their fan shroud...
I do have a bigger rad though ;) and I took it off as it had cracked. PS to stop it looking so ugly, spray the fan black :D

To anyone thinking of removing their fan shroud...
I've been running without a fan shroud for 6 months with no problems. Only noticed the aftermarket temp gauge sit higher when in traffic, and that's with aircon on, since adding an Underdrive pulley. But no overheating probs

say hello to mini me
it's great fun, hopefully taking next week off to transfer all the aftermarket stuff, and putting the stock stuff from the SWB to the LWB, then sell it as stock. For stock boost it was definately quicker than LWB at the same boost level. Tailgate's are different so keeping the spoiler for now. swapping all my clear indicators, rear lights, alloys, WW bumper, oil cooler, Uk clocks, gauges, Blitz chip, decat pipes, oil cooler, radiator, UD pulley, BOV's, MBC brace etc. it's going to take a while! and boost controller, AFC

say hello to mini me
I've been thinking about getting a SWB for a little while now, especially as I never use the rear seats anyway, so hear she is  Mods. Engine is stock apart from cat back exhaust, lowered, alloys, spoiler and side skirts. Going to take next week off and transfer everything across. edit:excuse the grainy pics, my camera is playing up.

Front bumper removal
take the front splash guards off, take out the indicators, remove centre panel. there are 2 bolts per side accessible from under the centre panel, then there are three bolts per side dotted round that you can access from inside the arch or through the indicator hole. search for a guide on intercooler replacement or something and I'm sure you'll come across a nice write up with pictures

hot wheels
check your tension rod bushes too for any leakage, they could be worn
