detailing everything different and unique about the convertible, soft top, vert part 0. General the vert was not available in the uk it was made in japan from 1992 to 1996 ( i think - feel free to corect me) it only came as an NA - no twin turbo model (although at least 3 in the uk have had a twin turbo conversion) the vast majority came as automatics with very few factory made manuals part 1. the boot lid unlike all other models of the 300zx the vert boot can only be opened with a key obviously it has the key lock in the usual place in the rear panel, but it doesn't have the release lever down the side of the drivers se…

In my quest for a 10A supply for my subwoofer (still looking here if you can help), I've had a look at the footwell fuses and a few qs crossed my mind: I looked at the fuse translation here and found a US one: There's a 10A Audio 1 and a 20A Audio 2. Some Zeds had powered rear amp and some had Bose power amps. The convertible doesn't have rear speakers so I presume no rear amp. What do these 2 feed and what's the difference? There's no rear wiper so what's that 10A for? There are 2 x 20A Rear Defogger. Not on the convertible, there ain't so what are these for - the heated mirrors perhaps? 7.5A Passive Belt - eh? Be interesting to know. Th…

Got a set of these pipes which the ports going to the cam covers have came loose. i've tried various types of rubber glue but nothing i try seems to fix them in position and they seem to be able to move about. The adaptors are both alluminium so any advice on what can stick them together.

Hey guys. My first question of probably many. Had a 300zx for just over a year now. Recently the air con screech's when on. It's not the belt. Today I noticed the pulley struggling to spin when the clutch was engaged so assuming it's the compressor clutch. Can these be replaced on there own ? Just clutch and pulley rather than entire compressor. Or does anyone recon the unit? Thanks guys

I have a powered subwoofer which I'm planning to bring back into service. Where's a good place to get 10A from? I'll use a 10A fuse inline as well. Thanks.

hi folks Dont know if anyone can shed light on this problem. If i remove the oil cap when the engine is running the engine wants to stall. The car ticks over normally with the cap in place.I have cleaned and checked the pcv valves and all seems good.any help would be great. Cheers trev.

  7. I have been monitoring temps using Conzult today on my TT. I am finding in todays weather (~29c) I am seeing around a 10c increase in coolant temp when my air con is running in stop/start driving. Without AC my car was running around 82c and with it I saw it reach 91c before I shut the AC off. Is this quite normal and what kind of coolant temperature is acceptable on a hot day without risking causing damage?

After jumping to conclusions in my last thread, I took the radiator cap off the other day to check if any coolant was missing. While doing this I though to myself that given how much they cost, perhaps it would be a good idea to replace it with a new one. I've spent a bit of time on Google etc. and I'm under the impression that the standard cap pressure is 1.2 bar - however the one fitted to mine is only 0.9 - judging by the numbers stamped on it... Are any of the resident Zed gurus able to confirm what the correct pressure for the radiator cap is? I would like to double check before I buy one and find out that they vary by model/year or there is some other fact…

I didn't find what I was looking for in the search, and Google didn't get me what I wanted either. I am returning my car to stock spec for a project, and have had the standard 16's soda blasted back to bare metal as they had been painted black many years ago. Does anyone know what the Nissan paint code is for the silver used on the stock wheels, or a paint code of another manufacturer that is a closest match?

  12. Hi I imported a 1986 300zx Twin turbo from Japan in 1990 and never drove it. It remained in dry storage until recently. I have been advised that I should not just start and go, although the car ran perfectly in 1990. I need to recommission it. Questions: 1. What would need renewing/replacing considering that the car has stood still for 19 years. 2. Who would be the best person to do it 3. What sort of expense am I looking at? 4. What would be the value today as is, and is it easy to sell? Many thanks

Can anyone point me to a source for a couple of labels for my front strut brace and air guide ? The items in question both need a good clean and the labels will I fear not survive ! Much thanks

  14. OK, I admit it. I did try to get away. Tried MG Midget, Boxster, Mazda MX-5. My other half spotted an MG Maestro Turbo on Ebay but I didn't get my act together to look. And just now someone's put a Bentley Mulsanne Turbo in the local rag for £3k. However, Zed cold turkey just didn't work. Picked up Z#4 today from PowerZed (hi Jimmer) after timing belt, a/c condenser, plugs, fluids and a bunch of other stuff. Homeward bound. To prove I took the top down on the ferry :) The fleet. How many Zeds is too many? Well, 2, actually - so let me point out the silver 1999 is still for sale :) Oh well,, top down on an island should be fun :D

I've just recently put a deposit in for a ZX I went to see last week. I will be picking it up this sunday and have everything sorted but just need to figure out where and when I will be replacing/welding the rear arches as they both have slightly progressed bubbles. (This was taken into account when I put my offer in and I feel like its definitely sweet deal.) So far I've contacted a few bodyshops and received quotes from local areas (Lincoln.) But just wondered if anyone would have any advice or knowledge on anything that could help or improve the process. I will also be looking to respray the car at some point but this will be a bit later in the project as curre…

Hi...as I’m now running some big horses and huge torque it looks like the only thing left to change for new is the gearbox clutch and lightened flywheel the gearbox has done 96,000 miles and is ready to give up the ghost as 3/4 gear don’t like the power. The clutch and flywheel on the other hand is quite new and hasn’t done a 1000 miles yet so could go to a new home if someone is interested? The clutch is holding the power perfect and is good for 700hp the only reason I’m swapping is i want it all new and having a change that’s all Pm me if your interested in the clutch and flywheel

Hi guys, does anyone know where I can buy the knock sensor / vtc sensor female connectors from? They are on ebay but from the states so the postage is more than the plug, I can buy 100 from aliexpress but I only need 2 and there are long shipping times plus the extra import customs costs.... I've used brands batch performance before for my gt4 but no joy Turns out my knock sensor was plugged into the vtc loom and visa versa, but they both have broken wires... Thanks in advance

I'm still finding my way around this site - hope this post is in the right place! I'm planning a biggish body sort-out on my Z32. Needed will be a couple of front wings and sills. So just a post to see if anyone has any advice on sourcing these items. Are the Nissan OEM items the only option? Does anyone have knowledge of purchasing from the USA? I used to get stuff from Courtesy in Dallas. They were pretty good, but that was a long time ago. thanks Peter

It is a bit frustrating driving a 155mph car and never ever getting anywhere near this speed. So I did a bit of sniffing around, and discovered there are sessions at Elvington airfield, near York, in which people can explore higher speeds. The runway is a staggering 1.8 miles in length, and the tests are over 1 mile, with 0.8 to stop in. (See https://straightliners.events). As many runs as you like during the day. I am told bikes have exceeded 250mph... Has anywhere used this facility? Any comments on the surface? Could be interesting... :-) Peter 1990 TT.

Sorry, I know this has been covered a number of times and I've followed all the DIY's on the hair net, but I'm not getting very far, I've done the ohm test and get nowt in both directions, I've done the mega ohm resistor with 3 different ones just in case and everyone I clear down the error code it comes back. I've just looked at the wiring diagram and pin 23 from the ecu goes to the knock sensor, the diagram shows it as white but I think it's a dull yellow? On the diagram it shows a dotted line around it which I assume is a sheild, that matches what I saw when I took the tape off the bad repair at the harness end. This connects to ground, so I expect to get a …

I stumbled across this the other day and it looked really quite good compared to most of the eBay garbage! I bought a couple and I must say, they’re pretty tasty! It has a laser etched branded ring and feels like it’s generally great quality: Here is a link for anyone that might want one (I’m not affiliated with the seller by the way!): https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F192377055670 They also sell this one:

I saw that jdm and usdm 300zx models have a hook under the seat that keep the front mats in place. The hole is in the middle of the mat on both passenger and driver floormat. On euro floor mats I saw they have 2 holes on the sides of each mat,but can’t find any hook on the chassis, any idea what is the method of fixing them to the floor?
