Hey all, Here's another headlight annoyance post, but mainly because my question is unanswered using search function.. So in both my projectors I can only assume that previous owner has had trouble with getting the h3c bulbs as I found what looks like a h4 twin element bulb but completely massacred and wedged in to fit h3c fitment... Both filament positives had been soldered together and then a ground soldered to the base?? Needless to say, it doesn't work.. I have since bought myself a set of 55w 6k h3 HID's, only to now realise once I'm standing in front of it trying to work out how the HID's fit, that I have no bloody spring clips... I'm sure I…

Hi all im in need of some help to determine what is causing this sound from the front of the engine. It can hardley be heard at idle its just when the car is revved at higher RPM it squeals. The engine had a full 120k service 4years ago including oil pump, water pump, belts, idlers, tensioner and rebuilt alternator. The engine had then not been used so all the parts are still brand new. We started the car recently and we got this squeal from the front of the engine that was diagnosed as the cambelt being to tight or the tensioner being faulty or seized causing the belt to be tight. So a new cam belt and tensioner was fitted all genuine Nissan again. As soon…

Engine Oil Viscosity Viscosity is the most misunderstood aspect of oil and yet it is the most important. Viscosity is the force required to shear (break) the oil at a certain speed and temperature. Oils work because they have viscosity; the drag of a rotating part pulls oil from a low-pressure area into a high pressure area and “floats” the surfaces apart. This is called “hydrodynamic lubrication” and crankbearings depend on it. Oil must be capable of flowing at low temperatures, so that it gets around the engine in a fraction of a second at start-up and must protect engine components at high temperatures without evaporating or carbonising and maintain adeq…

I can't remember ever seeing this in the list of things to check for poor running or idle.. the IGN COIL replay in the engine bay main fuse/relay box. the pins can become rusted or loose, certainly worth a check (obviously it supplies power to the coils). I saw this on another forum just the other day, the guy posted it because it was the cause of his bad running / hesitation .... checked cleaned, reseated and problem gone.. :)

Has anyone here replaced a worn strut top? I have what I think is a worn near side one. The main shock nut appears not to be in dead-centre like it does on the offside, in addition I get a very faint squelching sound from that area at low speed over speed humps. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem before? I've had it on a car I owned years ago and the symptoms are similar.

Well today I went to fit the hard pipes for the oil cooler and realised the hoses that go from the oil tree and the return one to the sump have been cut...... Obviously the person who supplied the engine decided to cut the ends off the hoses rather than undo the clamps.... Has anyone got some tips for replacing them? I can't get to the oil tree one as the steering rack and engine mount are in the way..... Also, which pipe has the restrictor in it? Is it the 2 pipes from the engine to the hard lines or the 2 pipes from the hard lines to the oil cooler? Can I fit braided hoses instead and lose the standard lines with the restrictor or do I need to use the old…

Hi everyone. I have what I believe is a split Turbo Oil Hose on the Drivers side. It's the one next to the water pipe. I have uploaded some pictures in the hope that someone can confirm what this hose actually is tho i.e.Turbo Oil Feed Hose, Oil Return feed hose... When the engine is switch off after a drive you can see little puffs of oily smoke coming from the bottom of this hose onto the hot turbo. Also if someone would be kind enough to tell me if I can get a replacement in Silicone, braded or even original that would be great! Don't know if Mike at MJP would do these... Thanks in advance people...

Hi all So I've got my dream 300XZ but the list of problems is quite long The main fault I'm trying to diagnose and fix is missfire on cylindersl 1 and 2, two front cylinders as you look in engine bay.Fault is permanent cylinders don't fire at all. I've spent few hours today and got to dead end, basically I've swapped ignition coils from other working cylinders and spark plugs - still no good, checked voltages on 2 faulty coils and there is +12v,earth,and continuous +12v on trigger pin of both ignition coils.Compared with other working coils and 12v on trigger pin should colapse for spark to take place. OK checked continuity between coils and PTU all ok,checked tr…
