Brake later, increased clutch life, greater stability on corner entry, wicked sound... I have installed the tomfromthenorth downshift synchro rev kit :tongue_smilie: The first time I drive the car I thought about doing that, took me 20'000 miles to get round to it. I tried lowering the brake pedal but couldn't. Its always been a bit too deep, I had to brake like a lunatic or wear high heels to heel toe and since fitting ss brake lines didn't have a hope. I bloody hate dragging the revs up on the clutch on downshifts, feels awful, so does going on off the brakes to blip down the gears on the way into a corner. Smiling like a moron this morning, a v6 zinging …

Hi, when my z has been sat over night and u start it up there is a whine come from the engine, it only lasts a minute or so and I think it is worse when the clutch is pressed, not 100% but sure it's louder, the problem is it gets quieter and quieter the longer the engine runs giving me little time to diagnose, also, the whine changes frequency in relation to engine speed. It sounds like it may be a belt whining, how can I diagnose or what else should I be checking? Thanks, Dan

  6. Hi! I was reading a few older posts just now and I read something about long right-handers being death to Z32 engines That grabbed my attention as I have a day at Spa booked in October  and although there isn't really a long right-hander both Pouhon and Blanchimont are v quick left-handers. Is there a weakness in the sump baffling on these cars? I've only had mine a couple of months and I haven't got up to speed yet on every little Z32 wrinkle. If there is an oil surge problem, is there a solution? On a separate topic, I'm OK with my brake set-up generally (floating Brembo discs and AP 6-pots with Ferodo DS2500 at the front; grooved discs with standard…

Who wants to help me pull my plenum to swap my injectors when I got some new ones? I've read stuff over and over again but I'm just not confident enough to tackle it on my own. I'll have some cash waiting for anyone keen to help.

OK. New rad ready to go in, here's the plan. Fit new rad, connect hoses, etc.... Now Ive checked the forums re: airlocks, with lots of advice re: auxillary bits, BUT.. the last post i read suggested that as the car front is up on ramps, rear on ground, I can just refill with 70/30 glycol mix, run and check every 20 mins or so, with heater on 40deg, and top up as required, right ? Also, while I'm at it, is there a way to flush out the system BEFORE i put the new rad on? don't want old shite in the new one, I'm thinking.....

I think I've sealed the actual sump itself fine, using heat resistant gasket sealant. I went all the way around, concentrating on the dimpled bits, and used a thin covering on the curved seal areas at each side. However, I didn't use any sealant on the inner section of the plastic seals, as they fit into grooves on the bottom of the engine. There clearly hasn't been sealant used in the grooves previously. Do you think it will be ok? Do I need to do it again? I suppose the obvious thing to do is fill the engine with oil and see if it leaks, but that won't test it under preasure when the engine is running.

Hey guys, As crazy as it sounds but my ptu has been getting wet. Upon giving my idling engine a look I noticed that there was some steam coming from the front of the engine. Turns out that my radiator hose has a tiny hole in it and probably from before has been spurting out water all over the ptu. Any ideas what negatives of a wet ptu might be?? Anyone got a good radiator hose?? Many thanks

When you replace the fuel temp, water temp sensors etc. what do you use to seal them in, RTV or plumbers tape? Any idea what size the throttle position sensors screws are, i've misplaced mine and need to replace them quickly?

Nissan in their infinite wisdom decided to use neutral switch control cables and use twin relays with additional mode change-over not your normal automotive practice but I guess they had their reasons and it works, that is until tracing wiring faults and not knowing the particular way it was configured can make for hours of fun for the un-initiated. So on to the task we had here to sort out, a nice zed with a rather strange headlight switching issue, firstly I must add they had been previous attempts by others to correct this issue with out success. The side lights were fine but the passenger dip beam would not work, the drivers side was fine, the main beams w…

  18. Ok, so this is how it looks - It's pretty much just surface rust, everything is solid and it's not time to start cutting up the body (I've had my fair share of that...and lost! lol) I obviously can't get at it to rub it down, so my question is what should I do with it? I thought about pouring rust eater in there and leave it for a while, then rinse that out, dry it out with a hair drying, then fill it with zinc pain or Waxoyl etc (maybe old oil?), but I don't want the rust to survive and make a come-back. I may well do that targa drain mod someone did and bring rubber tubing through a hole in the bottom of the sill.

  19. Taken my Z to France many times, but mainly to Normandy and Brittany and once to the west coast. I write this from deep south near the foothills of the Pyrenees in glorious settings after a non-stop drive across France in my Z. I am pleased to say that the car absolutely ran without fault. So proud of the car. I know it's in pretty good shape, but to actually put it through its paces and prove it makes you appreciate the car. Testiment also to a wonderful engine that Jimmer built me all these years ago and the maintenance he and I carry out on it. I even patted the thing and said 'well done' just now! Do you know what? After all that driving in an old sports car…

Decided to check and re set my TPS today as I have not long re build and fitted my plenum. Anyway, to cut a long story short I tried to move it so as to lower the voltage reading. It moved suddenly virtually to a dead stop with a reading of 0.15 volts. At this point I heard a rapid ticking sound, pretty sure it was some sort of electrical short coming from the passenger side of the engine. I tried this a couple of times, and sure enough the same thing happened. At the same time the RPM sat at 1850 rev's. Surely this can not be right? With that I set it back to 0.44 volts but no matter what I tried, the rev's would not change. Took her for a 8 mile drive…

i dragged my Z32 out yesterday to get it ready for an MOT next week. After 7 years of sitting, it looks like it just needed new wiper blades and the brakes cleaning up - calipers exercising and some bedding in and a new battery. Adjusted handbrake too. Ive power washed all the green and moss off it which made a difference. the only thing i can see 'wrong' is the indicator repeater on the dash cluster doesnt work, neither does the red light on the 4-way flasher switch. Indicators all work fine apart from that. im assuming theres something common between both the faults. does anyone have any ideas what it could be? dash bulbs are both fine. the da…

Well around a week ago now i lent my dad my 300zx, told him not to crash the damn thing, while his car was off the road with a gear box issue. So, i fix his gearbox (had no frigging oil in it, a bearing on his diff had managed to slip so was replaced, new clutch, new oil and replaced back onto the car and now working perfectly, last time i do any work on a 307 thats for sure, especially gearbox related lol Anyway, pulls up out side his while i was putting his car back together, he has only gone and drove the bloody thing into a curb as he didn't realise how low it was, cracking my genuine veilside bumper in two places , ok i was a tad p'eed but then i fo…
