I've just got new ported manifolds to go on but the EGR pipe hole has been welded over so it looks like more work to remove the EGR system? What's involved?

Here's a wheel conundrum. "Everyone says" you should replace the J spec rears with UK spec rears. Both are 16". J spec are 7.5" wide and take a 225/50. UK are 8.5" wide and take a 245/45. The UK wheel is 1" wider than the J spec. The UK tyre should be 20mm wider (0.78"). That's the theory! In this picture, there is a UK wheel/tyre and a J spec wheel/tyre. Can you tell the difference? No, neither could I and neither could the guys at Protyre. So I took some close-ups: Tyre A is 221mm wide at the sidewall and has wear-to-wear tread of 197mm Tyre B is 218mm wide at the sidewall and has wear-to-wear tread of 199mm Which one…

Hi Guys, I did an ECU check as the car seems to be running a little on the lumpy side. I think this may be due to a lazy O2 sensor which I will change today, but I got error code 54 at 0 starts ago ??? 54 Signal circuit from A/T control unit to ECU (A/T only) The A/T communication line is open or shorted A/T refers to Automatic Transmition right ?. I have a manual ? WTF ?

I am going to be using the NA aircon fan with the TT aircon system! The fan is only a one speed fan that is due to be activated at certain temp. I believe the temp at which the fan is activated is governed by the ECU, and I will be using a TT ecu. I believe on the tt ECU it activates the fan at approx 90degrees, so am I right in assuming that this is the point at which the fan will kick in?

Ok I went out this morning, changed the rear pads and tightened the alternator belt. Car started ok, no squeall from belt. Just started the car and it died after 30 secs. It will now turn over and I have checked the fuel which is pumping out of the filter ok. I know the power transistor is a comon fault on these, how do I check it or has anyone got any other ideas to look for? Cheers Ady

The other day I decided to try this BP Ultimate stuff to see if there was any comparision to the Optimax I usually use. As I thought there was no real noticable difference apart from the price, 87.9 pence per litre! I never pay more than 82.9 round my way for a litre of Shells finest. I have also been told that depite all BP's "improvements" to there standard super unleaded it is still only giving 97 octane. ! less than Optimax. Is there anything that makes BP Ultimate better than Optimax and is it really worth the extra 5p on every litre! Anyway, starting to sound like a moaning old anorak now so will let ya guys say your stuff! Cheers, Justin

Hi, I have another MR2 question for you lot who have owned or driven them in the past. I know I should just post this on the MR2 forum but they are all useless and you guys seem alot more helpful. Its for sale anyway, Zed on its way so not a complete traitor! Anyway, to the point, I have a guy coming round to look at my car tomorrow for a second veiwing and has mentioned that he thought the gearbox was "notchy". It has always been like this and i have had it 3 years and nothing has gone wrong with the box. I assumed that MR2 turbo's gearboxes are just notchy as a characteristic . Am I wrong and will I have to chop loads of money off cos of a dodgy box? Che…

Hi guys! Is there anybody in the vicinity of Wakefield (West Yorkshire) with a ConZult who could possibly help look over a car that somebody is considering to buy? I've been asked to go over but it is quite a trek from Birmingham and I have full schedules for the coming days. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Despite my efforts this week we have yet again reached a dead end. Any ideas? I have recently changed engine of my z but when it deccelerates it stalls or it revs at idle from 200 rpm to 2000 rpm. My mechanic has found that there is no signal going from the ecu to the fuel pressure regulator. When the fuel pressure regulator is given power indepentenlty then the problems seems to stop. (power to it is given straight from the battery randomly). Any ideas why the ecu is not giving power to the fuel pressure regulator? the ecu was fine before engine change. help!!!

I need to get some pads and possibly new front discs for my 91 zed. Up to now have been using standard TT pads from Nissan ( got at discount through friend ) but too expensive normally. Did b19rks offer cheap pads etc.? at some time in the past, or has my memory failed me. Anybody got any recommendations or options. just want equivalent, or better than standard not OTT upgrade, cost is all important. Cheers.

Took out the carbon canister in the bumper, to again smooth IC flow! After we removed the associated pipework, we were left with three hoses, one about 1 inch thick going into the front chassis rail. Two other smaller diameter ones returning back to the firewall! Am I right in presuming all of these need blocking off?

Hooray! I got my Zed back today. Two months and 3 days after a git drove into me. Twice. (And failed to give insurance details so the lawyers are now involved - but that story will have to wait until the court case / website update.) Accident story is here What a nice man Gleaming in Linconshire today Even more silvery than she was before Coo look ... clean Just a few bits and bobs to finish off: refurbish the 2nd set of wheels, clean the targa bags, put the sub-woofer and CD changer back, new wipers, club stickers, rear gearbox oil seal, stop the squeaky belts and off to merry France! Oh - and get the list together for…

can anyone suggest what could cause this problem. havent used my zed for a year or so. started it up the other day and the speedo shot round to 120 mph whilst stationary, a chimeing type bleep started not unlike the reverse warning indicator but a different sound, more strangly than anything else i lost power steering and the auto box was playing up (changing into overdrive at 20 mph etc and slipping in first). then after a few moments all is ok. then a mile down the rd it all starts again!!! all these problems seem linked to one fault as they all happen at the same time....................... i thought mebbe an earth problem but not sure can anyone help???

After a run out in the Z last night I looked down at the exhausts and noticed they appeared to have a small ammount of liquid coming from them. I am not sure if this was dirty water, oil or a mixture of the two. It was too dark to have a proper look. And how would I tell what the liquid is?, hard to tell with all the exhaust dust as well. Can anyone tell me what it could be if it was any of the three aforementioned symptoms? Cheers.

I've started to notice that when I'm manouvering at low speeds and full (or close to) left turn lock, I am getting a kind of clunk from the front drivers side wheel. First few times I thought I had driven over something, but now it's more and more consistent and noticeable, ie every time I use full left lock. There doesn't appear to be any noticeable problem on less acute turns (and therefore higher speeds) but I am starting to be concerned. Could this be related to new Poly bushes fitted just days before Macca's warning (though the arms checked out A-ok at that point). I also had a full 4 wheel steering geometry check soon after that, so unless they left a scre…
