I have my big end failed TT engine in my back yard!

It has all the bits on it + TTs good cylinder heads ect ect

Would you! Scrap it?

Or Consider a rebuild?

If I decided to rebuild engine with every recon thing

what would be the cost? would it be worth it!

Sorry if this is a dumb Question.

Sorry to here that mate !

I would find out how much it would be to buy a recon engine or another engine from a breakers etc and then ring up mike for example at mjp,or se nissan etc for prices to repair what you have ....Also can you do the work,,,or is a workshop job,,,this must come into the quote......If the car is in good condition then i would seriously consider rebuilding .....

But if you do decide to scrap it ,i would be very interested,,,,cheers mate its a hard decission,,:(

Hi Jon

My Z has had a replacement low mileage engine put in!

This engine in my yard is theoretically a spare now & I was wondering what to do with it.

Arthur

if i was you i'd keep it for spaires, i just reuilt my engine and then the big ends went, turnd out that it was a blocked oil way when i rebuilt the engine last time!

Hi arthur, man you work fast , ,,thats good news, mate,,,

Whats left on your old engine , any pics

might well be interested,,,but i would wrap it up for a while and keep it just in case ,,,the choice is yours ,,,let me know!!!

Good news though:dance:

chuck it away - there's a good chance that everything else on the engine is very worn. They used to say that turbo charging increased the burn duration of the fuel so the knock on the big ends from a turbocharged engine was less than a similar bhp na engine - therefore theoretically big ends last longer on turbo applications. If this is true then don't trust the rest of the major wear components - cylinder bores, little ends etc. as these must also have had a hard life.

Also as you vastly improve a major component, it will immediately show up the next item to fail as it puts more than normal (for all of the worn components) pressures and stresses on the non-replaced parts.

...minefield...

Hi Jack

Just thought that if I get the block rebored, crank regrined, new pistons & big ends. Then get turbo's overhauled & cylinder heads skimmed!

Just a thought!

How deep are your pockets?

If you have vvvv deep pockets and a burn proof wallet, make it a on going project to build the most powerful engine possible. :D

Thats what I would do.

If I had the income to support it, that is. ;)

Great idea!

Not practical though.

I would then have to think about upgrading the whole Z!

suspension,brakes,ect, ect.

Might as well get a better newer car!! any suggestions?
