Hi all

A warning to you all. In my opinion, do not use the follwing so called insurance specialists for the 300zx.

Houghton Insurance Brokers and

Chaucer Insurance.

The reason being that I cancelled my insurance with them for the 300 zx after 33 days cover. I paid £433 up front for an annual policy. I received £233 back. I lost nearly 50% for only 33 days cover. What a rip off.

It took them 7 weeks to give me my refund only after the Financial Ombudsmen got involved.

So in my opinion do not use either and also pay the insurance by monthly premiums. If i had done that i would have just cancelled the direct debit.

Oh yes, and dont use PORTWAY MOTOR CENTRE in Portway near Birmingham. I purchased a car from them recently and within 20 miles the torsion bar snapped and the alternator went. I am now suing them and the garage does not want to know. BEWARE.

Regards

Ian

I was insured with Aon via Houghton for the last 4 years, running to mid Oct each year, from when I had an imported mk3 Supra. They were always the best quote/cover each year.

I started looking for a Zed last Nov (1 month into policy) and back then they told me the increase in premium would be £30.

I bought my Zed in June this year (7 months later FFS) yet they now wanted an extra £50:eek:

Not happy, obviously as I thought it should be less than £30 as there was less time until my renewal.

I didn't renew out of principal (and Bell Direct were over £200 cheaper:D :D ) but I would still ask Houghton for a quote in future as their policy was very good.

I'm sure most insurance companies have a standard clause about refunds upon cancellation, some do refund the unused protion but others may restrict how much they pay back.

IMO you sign the policy you accept their terms........

.........but at least you got your money back in the end;)

Right now I'm pi55ed of with Morgan Stanley for the £20 late payment fee and the Post Office for making my cheque late.....

......You don't want to sue them for me, do you?:D :D :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

LOL thats pretty standard for insurance - if we don't use them, lets not use any with the same terms - oh dear no one will insure us!

Re garage with parts snapping after 20 miles - maybe their crystal ball was broken? How the hell were they supposed to know the parts were going to go?

Whinge whinge....
