First up, thanks to everyone who offered suggestions and advice in my thread about my misfiring problem (http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=34627) I was having a look at the coil packs last night and found that the plastic connectors on two of them have snapped. Also, the plastic "heads" are missing on 2 of them. I took them off, checked the connections (which were clean) and pressed them back on. I took the car for a short run (just a couple of miles) and it did feel much better, although still idling rough. Is there any way I can secure the coil packs in place as the plastic catches which have snapped are on the engine side, not on the coil pa…

Hi, you'll probably be hearing a bit from me in the coming months but I thought it would be of interest to post this item. A word of caution – You get what you pay for! Below is an article written by John Rowland, Silkolene/Fuchs Chief R & D Chemist for 40 years. Quote: Costs of synthetics vary considerably. The most expensive are the “Ester” types originally only used in jet engines. These cost 6 to 10 times more than high quality mineral oils. The cheapest synthetics are not really synthetic at all, from a chemists point of view. These are in fact specially refined light viscosity mineral oils known as “hydrocracked”. These have some advantage…

Had my car down at Thor this week, just to see if it was running well, thanks guys. The results showed that its overfueling. The car is pretty stock, Mongoose cat back exhaust, and blitz dump valves on hard pipes. It will have a blitz induction kit on it tomorrow. What options do I have? can this be fixed without upgrades? Suggestion of upping the boost to use the extra fuel, either by mig tips, boost controller and a fuel computer (emanage, apexi) Looking into finances, any upgrades may have to wait till next year Thanks in advance. Barry.

as per previous posts im losing boost - 5psi and with boost controller set high I can get to 10psi However even though I used to get 14.5psi my 10psi feels extremely quick. Pulling away in 1st, lift up clutch fully then flooring it results in wheels spinning and screeching, quick change to second and lots more mad screeching and spinning. Have I just forgotten how quick my car was as Ive only been running 5 psi.

Pershore Road half four-ish. It seemed to have some kind of chrome trim round the windows and boot, but maybe I'm just old and senile and it was actually a granada not a zed. Didn't realise until you had almost gone past and gave a bit of a pathetic wave.

Hi Guys, On the way to work in our glorious summer weather this morning, my intermittant wipe stopped working. Constant wipe works but there was not enough rain for this and I wanted intermittant! One mile from work and they started working again! I did a search for this and got a load of stuff about various electrical faults but not any on the wiper functions. I also have an intermittantly working clock ( but we all know about those ), same for the speedo, dome light not working ( bulb O.K. ), and isn't the red bar next to the PRND12 on the gearstick surround supposed to light up? Hell's teeth! Did Nissan get the electrics done in Italy?? Oh yeah, the mist spray…

Hi I recall reading that the indicators and foglights are the other way round on a 99 spec front (compared to pre-99 stock). Does that mean 2 of each will be needed new? And where do people get them from? Cheers  Pete

Having just failed the MOT on a blown sidelight bulb, I've dismantled the offending unit (J spec) and replaced. While I was at it I pulled the lenses off (three pieces) as I had some unsightly moss growing inside at the bottom, gave it a scrub with my birds' toothbrush and now I can't get the blasted thing back together - one side has gone on and the main piece was lifted just enough to allow cleaning (held on by some sealant). Problem is I can't seem to get the final piece to clip back in. What a ridiculous design. Can anybody offer any pearls of wisdom as to the correct technique?? Was going to clean the other side while I was at it but think I'll give it a miss no…
