General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Does anyone know where i could get a second hand Viscous fan from? as that is what packed up going down M3 it would appear. only bonus was spotted it before it caused any damage.... just a heater matrix pipe.

Picked up what I think is a bit of a bargain yesterday. A brand new momo tuner wheel for 80 quid :D I haven't got the boss yet but had a quick look at removing the old wheel. I dont want to damage it or the steering column or anything in the process. Has anyone got any top tips? I guess there is a special puller to do the job by the looks of the two threaded holes either side of the nut. Has anyone made a tool to do this? Cheers David

Hi all, I want two new / recon turbos, Not fussed if hybrid / uprated although would prefer. Im down south, anyone know of a good place to get tubbies from at a good price for both above, and a place who would fit? Also can anyone give me a rough idea on how much i would / should be loking for all in, cheers Steve

Anyone know of people in the know when it comes to 300's in the South East? most seem to be up north..Im Hertfordhsire way and dont really wan to be clocking up too many miles taking it to be serviced? Cheers, Rob

still got a mis-fire. i eventually got my car into the garage to see what the probs of not being able to start a the juddering when i put my foot down. the non-starter was due to a bit of hose that had somhow got into somthing called the butterfly (?) and this was letting fuel soak the plugs, but the other WAS my cas (thanks to those whom pointed this out!) and it had to be turned to the right!?! but here's the question....I noticed that the cas as a small Mitsubishi simbol on it, has this been swapped or is it some part that Nissan install, and should I be thinking about getting a nissan cas?? Im looking to buy some new wheels but im not sure weather to stick with 18"s or go bigger and get 19"s. Can anyone help? and if so which width is best and tyres for 18"s and 19"s. thankx, Hanksy

Fecking Nissan are a pain in the arse - changing these bushings following the Twinturbo.net tech guide looked easy, and was until I came to the two bolts that hold the stick onto the metal plate bolted to the transmission tunnel. Obviously, the US cars had a bolt with a 12mm head and a nut underneath so you can hold the nut with something and unscrew the bolt itself - my car.....of course not, it has a bolt with a completely flat round head, nothing you can get on at all, so the nut is the only option. :mad: It is impossible to get to with the kit at my disposal - I need something like a small spanner with a step in it with a very shallow 12mm socket welded on…

im currently trying to fix my cruise control, its never worked for aslong as ive had the car, but seeing h ows im selling it i thought it might be wise to fix it. Ive tracked it down to a broken kill switch on the brake pedal, the switch is deffo duff as ive opened it up and i can see where its broken. Is it worth me doing a write up for the tech section while ive got it all in pits, maybe break out the digi cam and take a few pics??? What a tw@t of a job by the way!!!!

you take off your hoses, and the y piece the afm plugs into and the passenger side has fine oil through it. The 2 passenger hoses (one to the plenum and the other large one) also have a fine mist of oil, wherease the drivers side are pretty much dry. Thanks

Will Turbo Injectors Fit A Non Turbo 300zx And Make Much Difference . Or Whould I Need A Uprated Fuel Pressure Regulator.

I bought 2 Turbo XS Bovs off someone on this forum, and all seemed ok. Now zed is stalling when I slowed down, so under recommendation I refitted the original recircs and cured the problem :) However, I want them back on After opening them up they have a spring and 6 washers in each, but one is a lot stiffer than the other, and one spring is longer!! Does anyone either know where I can get replacement springs from OR shall I just put more washers in the loose one (shorter spring?) to try and get the same tension on both BOVs. Im just a little worried which one should feel right as I dont want to make them both stiff then the BOVS dont open. Thank…

Where can i get one of these headlight panels?

Anyone have any ideas about my ongoing clicking caliper please? Front n/s caliper clicks very loudly - a bit like flicking an empty beer tin with your finger nail. It's not too bad when cold but gets loud after a couple miles. If im stationary and press the pedal all the way down hard, caliper clicks about 15 times from top to bottom of pedal travel, you can feel the clicking in the caliper with your hand on it. I've taken the pads out and the pistons are very free - push one back in and the opp side comes out easy. They deffo aren't seized. I cant see any point in changing the piston seals as they move freely. They dont click when the pads are out , only when …

300 gurus, have a couple of questions: Shop has a car 'off the boat', needs prepping which he'd said he'd do 1. If you drive a zx, and it feels sweet, no funny noises, smooth ride, engine ticks over nicely, but it just isnt pulling as hard as u'd expect...any ideas whats wrong? Do knackered turbos make a noise or could this be it? (It is A TT!) 2. Someones put one of those (in my opinion) nasty bin sized exhausts (SINGLE ONE ON THE RIGHT ONLY) on the back, its massive and far too laddish for my tastes (I like the twin tail pipes action), the thing isnt too loud, but do you know what id have to do to get the thing changed back to the zcentre type twin tail …

I've been reading through the posts about hicas elimination. I know there is a kit, but for the time being i just want to lock it into safety mode. My car is a 92 uk spec so i can't just pull a fuse as its mechanically operated. I've been told i can link it out at the plug on the valve itself but what wires do i link out? Thanks, Stuart.

Ok, i got a new engine sorted after the disaster that was the gear linkage :( Anyway, the lump that im getting has Turbo Technics Stage 2's on there that have only done a couple of thou :hyper: However Im sure i read somewhere that these need different downpipes to the ones for stock, done a search but cant seem to find a post about it, maybe im thinkng of something else, but maybe someone or smithy can confirm? Also, while im here, anyone got any technical gen on these tubs, flow rates, maybe a compressor map ;)

Hi all ive just been out to change my discs from left tp right due to them being fitted round the wrong way as there grooved as i dident remove the pads first it was a wiggle to get them off,and as i got the calliper back on,i may of damaged the metal hose coming from calliper as its leaking from the nut quite alot :eek: and then stopped.is this curable as my fluid levels are the same but dreading going out for a drive what should i do,or will i be ok! :confused: cheers guys
