Morning all, Speaking to a friend yesterday he said that the SAAB 900 Intercooler is larger than the 300zx and pretty much straight swap with one of the Zeds ones. Obviously you would need to find to saab900 turbos in the scrappers because they only have one ic each. Anyone else heard this. Is this a cheap viable/upgrade?

Does anyone know how and what an E.G.R. control valve works and does? And what happens if it decides to go pop? Is it easy to replace? Is it cheap? (What am I saying? this is a Z I’m on about, so I'd better get ready to sell two goats and my first born child!) Where is it on the engine, (any picture's would be good) and last of all, what does E.G.R stand for? Thanks for any help. :)

I've got a miss matched set of locks on my zed. Basically the driver door lock has been replaced so I have a one-off key for that. The only other key I have is a red valet key. I was wondering if its possible to move the driver side door look the the passenger side (where its never used) and vice versa? And then if its possible to get a master key cut from the valet key? I've got a new blank on order at the moment. The alternative is a full second hand lock set but I could live without the expense and hassle to be honest!! Cheers David

Was getting very frustrated trying to get to the two bolts underneath the stock airbox yesterday, to the point where I though it would be faster to take the bumber off. When I removed the splash guard on the drivers wheel arch the bracket which the bottom two screws fix to just fell off due to massive corrosion. I decided not to go any further (cut the airbox out in the end!), but now my spalsh guard has two or three holes where there is nothing to screw to, so is a bit loose. Anyone konw if these brackets are replaceable?

I am getting a zed spotter geek, but I have seen loads recently. Someone going onto the M40 North today about 12 as I was coming off. It was a nice (clean) balck one with a vented panel at the front. Also a red import the other day (Thursday or Friday I think) along Seven Star Road in Solihull. Yet again I was dreaming and didn't notice until you had almost got past. Anyone on here??

Hi I took a good engine out of a non turbo 300ZX about 6 months ago. I just want to know whether its OK just to leave it standing (inside a garage) for this length of time, or is there something I should do to make sure it doesn't seize up or something ????? Thanks Andy

Now I've got you reading, I apologise but I'm only talking about the "others", the Brazilian ones are on a different website. :D :D I understand bushes are a consumable of the 300zx but I need some professional assistance in diagnosing whether they need replacing or not, and what ones to replace. I get a creaking and knocking noise from the offside front suspension, which is more pronounced at the beginning of a journey - ie when everything is cold. If I've been out before or been running for a while the noises are quieter. Is this indicative of a problem with the bushes? ( my car has done 66k miles). I live in Hemel Hempstead, and if there's a knowledgable ow…

First up, thanks to everyone who offered suggestions and advice in my thread about my misfiring problem (http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=34627) I was having a look at the coil packs last night and found that the plastic connectors on two of them have snapped. Also, the plastic "heads" are missing on 2 of them. I took them off, checked the connections (which were clean) and pressed them back on. I took the car for a short run (just a couple of miles) and it did feel much better, although still idling rough. Is there any way I can secure the coil packs in place as the plastic catches which have snapped are on the engine side, not on the coil pa…

Hi, you'll probably be hearing a bit from me in the coming months but I thought it would be of interest to post this item. A word of caution – You get what you pay for! Below is an article written by John Rowland, Silkolene/Fuchs Chief R & D Chemist for 40 years. Quote: Costs of synthetics vary considerably. The most expensive are the “Ester” types originally only used in jet engines. These cost 6 to 10 times more than high quality mineral oils. The cheapest synthetics are not really synthetic at all, from a chemists point of view. These are in fact specially refined light viscosity mineral oils known as “hydrocracked”. These have some advantage…
