How much boost can I run with T28's, 555's and big coolers with stock internals? Am I right in thinking that these turbos will be pushing far more air through for the same pressure so the usual maximum of about 16psi would actually be too much? If so, how do I gauge how much is too much for my engine? Chris.

how do I get more power out of my Z without having to sell any of my internal organs to fund it. As far as I am aware it's completly standard, will be looking at the chip sometime, what should I see if it has/hasn't been upgraded ?

Trying to sort out me response problems on the cheap. Phil at C&S suggested bleed valves might be an easy way of doing it, and I said there was a fairly low opinion of them... but I can see the theory. He's suggested the problems might come from unbalancing the engine by using two - has anyone tried teeing just one in? Thinking about the plumbing at the front of the engine this should be pretty easy. Any thoughts? Mapping not an issue for me because a) it's chipped and b) I'm not looking for mega boost, just better response, I'd probably go for 11-12 psi or so only.

I was out having a drive last night - off a roundabout in 2nd, accelerated without a problem, boost needle up to 2nd from last bar. Changed to 3rd and there was massive hesitation, engine sounding awful. A couple of miles later, tried again and everything seemed to work as it should. A while after that, I took the Z out again onto the A1 and 2nd & 3rd were ok, then shifting into 4th the same problem. I was pressing the accelerator down and the car was just slowing down. Lifted off the accelerator and pressed again and the engine picked up. After I got home, I noticed that it was idling very roughly - from between 600 & 2000 rpm. Today, (after readin…

Just imported a TT Zed over that has a boost controller on it. Looks pretty standard other than usual back box etc. What is the safest maximum bar i should be running the boost on? It was set on 0.4 but iv upped it to 0.9 and its bloody mental now. Is this still safe ? Thanks for any help in this matter

I have been offered some R33 GTS-T brakes (discs/ calipers). Looking at the specifications and searching other threads I think that these discs are only 296mm when the discs I already have from a GTR are 330 (ish). Firstly, are the GTS-T brakes any good? Are they 4 pot calipers? Can I fit them onto the 300Z TT? Will the calipers fit over the GTR discs I already have??? I think the size of the 300 discs are 280mm so would the GTS-T upgrade be a good one or relatively the same???? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: Cheers

I started fitting a boost gauge today but I'm not sure which pipe I should break into to fit the T piece. At the moment i've got the pipe from the gauge through the fire wall on the drivers side (near the brake booster). It's quite short and will only reach to the LHS of the engine (as you look at it). I've search previous threads but everyone seems to hook up to the pipe on the passenger side (the one into the large hex connector thing, a tehnical term :), where the std boost sender is connected ). There is a small pipe connected to the pipe betwen the LHS IC and plenum. Can I break into this one? If not why not, surely it will be the same pressue as the manif…

Continuing on from my post about an in-car computer install and after talking it over with JD (cheers bud ;)), it looks like this may be do-able. Almost 100% certain it's going to be built around a PC/104 processor which seems well suited for the task in hand. As for the rest, a 2 and a half inch "laptop style" hard drive, floppy drive, CD drive, USB Key drive, soundcard, track ball, mini-keyboard and screen (touch screen if finances allow). Could anyone recommend some good sites to buy from? Any help would be appreciated! :) Cheers, Leigh

Just refitted the engine after a pair of 2nd hand heads and turbos. Been assured that the heads are from an auto, same as mine and were nice and quite before breaking. Car is all rebuilt, new platty plugs, oil flushed and replaced with Magnatec, new filter etc Car has not been driven as yet, only started and all the niggly bits sorted out, but here comes the problem !!!!! Helluva tappet rattle :mad: Been advised to drive it and the tappets will fill with oil and pressurise, but it goes against the grain to drive something that doesnt sound right. Double checked the timing marks and it seems ok, pressure test each cylinder and thet pan out at around 150/ 1…

I had a puncture, tried to put the silly little spare wheel on and it caught on the rear brake calibre so the bloody car woldn't go at all. Is there something I don't know? I think the spare wheel is the original Nissan one. Are there spacers missing or something Chris...sitting in a forecourt with some Smarties!!

A nice red import NA on Marlborough Drive in Leamington - just round the corner from me!! Private number plate D2 ***. Anyone here? No stickers, so I'm guessing not. Never seen another zed parked up nearby. I realise just how good the cars look when you see one parked, or coming along the other way. Looks good!

Behind the map lights is a small fan or gyro attached to what looks like a thermistor. What is it for? I've unplugged it and it doesn't seem to affected anything. Is it just extra fan for cooling the interior?
