Hello, Took the car for a 1 mile drive this morning driving off boost. Got home about 3 mins later all smoke?? Steam?? started coming from the engine between battery??? Could hear a dripping sound then the sizzling (noise as if liquid oil/water landing on something hot) then the steam or smoke?? Anyone have any ideas what pipes are down there that could have burst?? Will take it for a drive tonight and see if it does it again. Thanks all. Ant :cry:

I was driving in to work this morning, when suddenly the car started to lose power after an upshift - misfiring badly. This happened to me a couple of nights ago, but then I took my foot off the throttle, reapplied the power and all seemed to be back to normal. This time, the engine is just misfiring awfully all the time. The idle is really rough, the acceleration is very, very rough and poor and keeps on spluttering and losing power again - it doesn't stall, but in order to get any power at all back, I have to push the accelerator much further than necessary. whats the best stuff to use for running in a new engine i am presuming a single weight and fairly thin , any recomendations ?? Castrol do one but say that they are not sure what would happen using it on a turbo application :confused: Cheers Ryan

Hi All, if you have Mcgard locking nuts and loose the key, contact Mcgard and if you send a digital photo of the bolt/nut, and some id they will supply the right key for you. Very handy as they are impossible to get off any other way..

Has anybody ever took apart the HKS EVC3 Boost solenoid. Im getting a rattling (sort of split diaphragm air noise) under boost and my boost is right down to 5psi. Wondering whether it could be split diaphragm (if there is one) in the solenoid. Do they dismantle easy - Anyway I can easily find out if its working or not. I.e. an easy way to remove boost solenoid and run std again. Thanks

After ecently being run into by a boy racer does anyone know where i can get the air box housing (the black plastc casing) and a bonnet from and roughly how much do they cost ? I have left a post for Andy Z, MJP Eastern and Courtesy USA, but im desperate for a quote on these parts - i have to give my insurance company the final repair figure today!!!!!! They were going to write it off and now they may not, depending on price - i would rather they didnt because i will get skanked - so pleeaaaassssee help me - Mike This has been going on for three months now :mad:

Finally getting Z sorted after my crash, having the sill welded at weekend but not sure how to get it there. I know you can drive cars to garage to get MOT but my mate said you can also do to get repaired is he right? The car has insurance but no MOT or tax.

I'm getting ready to swap Plenums from my old non polished one to the polished and chromed one I have just had!! :D I want to use stainless steel bolts but I can only get hold of 'metric' ones from work (the look I want!) which ones of the holes on the plenum can I tap out to accept metric (same size but different thread) without chuffing things up!! i.e. which ones have to have the old bolts in, and which ones can I tap out to metric? Or can I do them all without any problem? I've attached a pic if you want to circle the okay to do holes that would be great, cheers!! :D Matty.

Was gonna put a secondhand martix in my Zed; been warned off that idea (with good reason). Courtesy Nissan in the US say they cant source me a new one.. Any ideas where I can get a new matrix? :duffer:

My car is smoking on idle (seems to happen after ive booted it) does this sound like PCV valves and if so how much would a garage bill me for the work? PS. The car has too much oil in it and has only been smoking since i reset the ECU.

Tell me if i'm being dim but what is standard boost and how do i know how much boost i'm running as the needle moves up and down as i put my foot down i assume the boost varies??????

Ive just brought another Zed that i want to modify up to about 350 - 375 horses. Can anyone give me an idea of how much, and what i should do please ? Obviously air filter, exhausts are first and there already done, as is boost controller running at 0.9 bar. So what next? Is chipping the best route to go ? Thanks for any help in this :)

Does anyone else get serious smoke from these after a few hard stops? Have been tweaking the profec settings so have a long straight (private road ;) ) nearby where I can take it to the top of 4th before braking hard from those kinds of speeds to 30-40 ish. After two stops, the pads are almost on fire and they stink. Maybe this is normal, but from what I have read on here everybody raves about their performance?

1) Yesterday on the way home from work I go through a small village, this has the speed humps that go all the way accross the road appart from the gutter. When going over these I put the near side wheels in the gutter and the off side over the hump, over one of the humps the car seemed to step out and track left, almost up the kirb. The back end also seems a bit 'wobbly' over bumps in the road. Any ideas what this could be guys ? 2) On Saturday I cleaned the throtthe boddies, reset the ECU and set the idle to 750 - 800 RPM when at correct running temp. Now when cold the idle is at over 2000 RPM and at the correct running temp idle is at around 1100, occasionally it w…

Looks like my PS high pressure hose is leaking, and from searching on here the Nissan part is quite expensive and it would be better to take the hose off to a hydrolic hose place to get them to make one up for me. I've also read about a PS leak possibly causing alternator probs so best get it sorted sooner than later. So any tips on removing the hose? draining the system first etc? Any other opinions or useful advise from those that have been there done that :)

Can anyone tell me any symptoms for torque converter failure. Problem is that i have just fitted another box and i've had drive failure again :mad: :mad: :mad:. I know how unreliable 2nd hand boxes are but i was wondering if there was somthing else that could relate to gearbox failure. My first box frazzled and had the burnt smell etc but this one is not smelling (yet!!) but keeps loosing drive. I turn the car off and leave it for a few hours and the drive comes back. On my last drive i put my foot down and total slipping :confused: ,also theres a whining noise. Thinking of getting a S.E fast box but would go mad if it's the converter..

hi all, back agian this is a question for a friend of mine who has a garage and is trying to fix a zed he's had for about 2 months. the zed came in running on 5 cylinders and he wanted it sorting (bought from auction) he first thought it was the plenum as it had been off before and all the wiring loom had been cut (injectors) and joined together with crimp conectors, so removed it, gasket was knackerd, put new gasket on replaced it and...its still the same. hes then since, checked compression checked plugs checked fuel getting in and at the right pressure large spark on that cylinder checked timing but it still won't run on that cylinder???????…
