I'm sure I need a new clutch booster. When the engine's running I get a nice hissing sound, most audible when my head's in the driver's footwell (while stationary! :p ). The hissing often stops at some point with the clutch partially or fully depressed, and the clutch itself behaves like it's assisted to roughly the biting point, and then unassisted beyond that. Plus the idling is all over the place, which I guess is symptomatic with a vacuum leak as I've read on similar threads. So I disconnected the vacuum pipe at the booster end and plugged it- no hiss, smooth idle. Firstly, are there any good places to get a new/recon booster? It seems they aren't cheap. (…

Hi all, I'm gonna be in the market for a Zed in a few weeks, but can't seem to find anywhere down here in the South that could look after it - properly ! I live near Gatwick, any ideas where I could take it ? I'm not averse to spending money on cars, my 'weekend car' is a very modified MR2 Turbo, but it's uncomfortable as hell as a daily driver ! But will a Zed TT crucify me on mileage of 15k pa ? I suspect not if it's looked after properly. Ta muchly Matt

Went on holiday last week and decided to disconnect the battery whilst i was away. Came back and went for a spin, then when sat in traffic out of the corner of my eye i saw smoke in my side mirror. Though ahhhh cars on fire so pulled in and jumped out to see. Smoke (White i think and very smelly) was coming out of my passenger side exhaust. Now when i picked up the car 6 weeks ago the oil level was twice what it should be and it smoked a bit for the first week from the drivers side exhaust. There is still too much oil in her (1-2cm over the max level on warm) but there was no smoking problems before i went away. Does this sound like a temporary problem or have i wre…

After a year I have, (fingers crossed), solved my radiator problems - as a result I have a spare rad. It looses about a cup full of water every 100 miles - I think through the refill cap or possibly from the drain plug. Has bottom hose but not top hose and has autobox hoses. I was about to bin it but since it has kept me going for the last year, until I was able to replace it, it might do someone else a turn until you can solve your rad problem permanantly. I do not want to be paid, but you must collect it from Hemel Hempstead and soon. In case of dispute between two people, the one with the earliest reply wins.

Ive had probs with oil pressure gauge since i had an accident a couple of weeks ago. The bottle under the r/h wing was destroyed (just an empty one) and the pipe going to it is now loose and hisses when no boost goes through. Could this at all be attributed to the no show on the oil pressure gauge? I need to find out if there is any oil pressure and want to rule out the sensor/switch etc. Is there a fuse for it firstly? secondly where is the switch. Hope someone can help as ive already done 3-400 miles since the accident and it all seems fine.... Also is there a definate way to test oil pressure?? Thanks All Sean

 Got a problem with my Z (Z32), after an engine out, new turbo's fitted and engine back in, the cars been blowing out clouds of petroly, white smoke. On tick over it all looks clear, blip the throttle and puff! Clouds of smoke. It seems to be worst on the passengers side exhaust. Car runs smooth and strong, starts ok, but tick over some time's drops off and engine stops, car drinking petrol like it's going out of fashion! Also funny sound coming from above gearbox bell housing, blow off valve's muted. Any ideas would be appreciated. Also if any one has good clear photos of an engine bay, could you send them to me please? Just want to check the vac…

Are there any write-ups on plumbing the engine back in? Got lots of pipes and no car to compare them with. I've seen a few pics of the bay but they're not much use without being able to trace from end to end.

Hi guys, When first starting the car the exhaust puts out more smoke on the right hand side than the left hand side. But there is no problem when the engine is warmed up. Is this the CATS? Cheers

Where the steering column attaches to the rack there was a white plastic washer with a locating lug on it. I've managed to lose it during all the work. Is it really needed/will an ordinary washer do the trick?

Hi Ryan Thanks for your help today- it was much appreciated. Just trying to remember what we talked about regarding the knock sensor. So we found out that I have a faulty knock/detonation sensor (I take it that its the same thing). And that a wire was cut/snapped on the knock det sensor connector. I have patched that cable back up, but still get error 34. Managed to get it back to 55- all clear then went round the block and it went back to 34 again. The question really is how do I find out if this is caused by a faulty sensor or whether it is suffering from det. If it is suffering from det, then I guess I need to address that problem. It could also be wir…

Finally got the wideband sensors in my car and Leighs rigged up this weekend. Top notch kit. Cheers to Leon at Alunox for sorting out the bosses so quickly. Now got my original sensors disconnected and this one rigged up to the ECU instead. Also got mine rigged up to log MAF voltage, TPS and coolant temp too. Now going to get 2 EGT's in the old lambda bosses and maybe a one in the TB to get charge temp. The software with it will log all of that + AFR and RPM in real time at 10ms intervals. Even without the PC connected up you just hit a button on the unit and it records it for download later. Got mine displayed on the profec E01, Leigh's has the tech edge disp…
