Ive had probs with oil pressure gauge since i had an accident a couple of weeks ago. The bottle under the r/h wing was destroyed (just an empty one) and the pipe going to it is now loose and hisses when no boost goes through. Could this at all be attributed to the no show on the oil pressure gauge? I need to find out if there is any oil pressure and want to rule out the sensor/switch etc. Is there a fuse for it firstly? secondly where is the switch. Hope someone can help as ive already done 3-400 miles since the accident and it all seems fine.... Also is there a definate way to test oil pressure?? Thanks All Sean

hey guys! looking to set my controller up, does any one have the formula for convertiny KG/CM to PSI! looking to get around 12-14 psi to start with! also to set throttle sensor do these run; throttle closed 0v open 3v-5v OR closed 3v-5v open 0v thanks guys! steven

:mad: Got a problem with my Z (Z32), after an engine out, new turbo's fitted and engine back in, the cars been blowing out clouds of petroly, white smoke. On tick over it all looks clear, blip the throttle and puff! Clouds of smoke. It seems to be worst on the passengers side exhaust. Car runs smooth and strong, starts ok, but tick over some time's drops off and engine stops, car drinking petrol like it's going out of fashion! Also funny sound coming from above gearbox bell housing, blow off valve's muted. Any ideas would be appreciated. Are there any write-ups on plumbing the engine back in? Got lots of pipes and no car to compare them with. I've seen a few pics of the bay but they're not much use without being able to trace from end to end.

Hi guys, When first starting the car the exhaust puts out more smoke on the right hand side than the left hand side. But there is no problem when the engine is warmed up. Is this the CATS? Cheers

Where the steering column attaches to the rack there was a white plastic washer with a locating lug on it. I've managed to lose it during all the work. Is it really needed/will an ordinary washer do the trick?

I'm picking up my first Z on Saturday 19th During the test drive the speedo was intermittant (i'ts a j spec manual tt that has been converted to mph) what is this most likely to be and would it cause runnng problems ?

Hi Ryan Thanks for your help today- it was much appreciated. Just trying to remember what we talked about regarding the knock sensor. So we found out that I have a faulty knock/detonation sensor (I take it that its the same thing). And that a wire was cut/snapped on the knock det sensor connector. I have patched that cable back up, but still get error 34. Managed to get it back to 55- all clear then went round the block and it went back to 34 again. The question really is how do I find out if this is caused by a faulty sensor or whether it is suffering from det. If it is suffering from det, then I guess I need to address that problem. Finally got the wideband sensors in my car and Leighs rigged up this weekend. Top notch kit. Cheers to Leon at Alunox for sorting out the bosses so quickly. Now got my original sensors disconnected and this one rigged up to the ECU instead. Also got mine rigged up to log MAF voltage, TPS and coolant temp too. Now going to get 2 EGT's in the old lambda bosses and maybe a one in the TB to get charge temp. The software with it will log all of that + AFR and RPM in real time at 10ms intervals. Recently on tickover my cars been sitting at 1500rpm and is peeing me off so i thought id start by cleaning the panel filters inside the SUPER ARC INDUCTION BOX and long and behold i cant get the thing out iv removed the twin hose the maf and sensor but it looks like the bumper has to come out due to the size of the thing. it seems as if the hard pipes that join the twin hose are in the way is there any way off removing them rather than takin the front bumper off as imo thats a bit drastic :confused: sorry to go on but im going to fit a cone filter at the same time hope u can help greg ps.. can any one shed some light on the tickover ting..ive cleaned the thro…

just fitted a avcr have a chip fitted an air filter an now its det at only 0.8bar any ideas cheers lads

I've just been outside finally getting round to replacing my PCV valves and all the hoses. I started on the driver's side as that's apparently easier... I've managed to remove the main hose - the one that connects to the PCV valve. Removing the PCV valve itself is proving to be a major pain in the arse. :( I have a deep 19mm socket, but I presume it must be too deep as when it's on the valve, there's no way of attaching anything to it as the pipes from the brake master cylinder get in the way. A "less deep" socket won't go onto it properly. Can someone who's done this tell me which tool is the best to use for this? Should I just go and buy a 19mm spanner …

Have i got the pipes right? I disconnected pipes from the standard solenoid and used the pipes from there. I used the actuator side for the com of the avcr valve but and used the other pipe from the valve and connected that to the other side the avcr. Is this right? Also does anyone know a good website for a conversion chart for PSI into kg/cm2?

went out on a 200 mile round trip so everything got nice and warm...but can't get above 10 psi i have done a few searches on here but wanted anyones thoughts on the most likely thing to go for... i will be running the self diagnostics early next week...but in all other respects the car works fine cheers chris

Hi all Long post....(sorry) Just been giving the ZX a good thrashing in Cornwall last week and experienced a temporary moment of safety boost. No problems at all on the m-way down last Saturday, the car felt responsive and eager (happily hit 145 in no time and cruised at a good 3 figure speed :rolleyes: ). It was fine the next day too. But on Monday, after an hour's drive in the 28 deg C heat it would only reach the 7psi mark on the guage and felt way down on power. (I had refilled at a BP garage the previous evening with 95ron u/l fuel as usual - UK car, so ok to use). I left the car for a few hours and it was fine for the drive back to my hotel. I have just been out in the Z after finishing putting another gearbox on. All was going fine; not going mad just tootling around the next village until i hit quite a steep gradiant. Thats the point when the gearbox seemed to slip. I lost 95% of drive :( .Managed to get to the top of the hill and checked under the bonnet and underneath the car to look for leaks. All was ok :dance: Problem was that i was at the bottom another hill so i tried 1st gear and it drove as normal. The box i got hadn't been used for 2 years. Do you think its fooked or its bedding itself in.do you think i may need more oil? or could it be the torqe converter? Its an auto by the way. Thanks

Does anyone know anyone in the South west/midlands/oxfordshire that can do a Zed TT engine swapover for a good price? I'll need both cars transported too. I have decided that my red Z is much cleaner than the 40K Blue one and I'm gonna take the engine out of the blue one and put it in the Red one. That will leave me with a Blue Z with Leather interior & recently installed recon'd autobox & borked engine. I'll basically be selling that for someone else to repair or break. I drove the car yesterday back from the alarm company and 2 problems arose which are starting to bug me! The first is when i accelarate the temp gauge goes down and sits at a slightly lower temp than normal the more i accelerate the lower it goes, cant seem to figure out whats wrong! The second being the greddy boost gauge iv got installed when i start the car the boost gauge goes right to zero and stays there and doesint budge but the reset button and memory buttons come on and the red light for when u go into boost comes on aswell! The stock boost gauge works fine and sits below zero near -7 as normal and winds up to zero wen you rev slightly but i again cant …

can anyone shed some light on this matter? car is hunting all the time from about 450rpm to 1500rpm, black smoke coming out of exhausts( i know its over feulling) but why? have cleaned some connectors as direct by geoff at zedworld but is still doing it. also it won't go over 5500rpm now. it's also an auto. have checked temp sensor(cleaned connector) also the O2 sensor connectors were cleaned and the TPS sensor connectors..... Hi all, I had a leak comming from where the MS joins the servo i guess. I oreder a seal kit frrm Mike Feeney, I got two piston things, with rubber on top and a metal washer, is this right? is it all i need and how do i do it? Lol Cheers

havnt had the car long but noticed that if i accelerate smoothley every thing appears fine but if i try to put too much power down from standing or try to accelerate quickly while trying to overtake i get a bad vibration fron the rear of the car help please :cry: :cry:

Also ive got to spray a front wing in silver. Is there a specific silver for the 300zx (its a jap 91 tt)?? or is it just a case of colour matching as usual? Thanks Sean
