Flashed ma lights and just received a strange look in return?!

Bought my very first Z yesterday and pick it up next Saturday :dance: It's a 'J' '92 2+2 manual TT Fairlady import :bow: The guy I bought if off didn't really know much about it, he got it from his Mrs brother who recently died :cry: He didn't know when the cambelt was last changed, so that would be the first thing that needs doing. I will also change the oil. Is there anything else I should be looking at. Advice please.

Got it all off as you know! Whilst im replacing the water pump and reconditioning the master cylinder etc, thought it was high time i did some tidying under the bonnet, so I've sprayed up all thecam covers etc, which will go back on nicely soon with some smithy hardpipes, laser etched Z plate for the new colour coded rocker cover, new vacuum lines, new slam pannel, fuse box cover and filler cap :D Im also in the process of tidying up the plenium, so should look good hopefully when its all done. When I brake the car shake's like anything :( , is this to do with my tracking? As my car pulls to the left alot, OR could it be warped discs. If it's warped disc's how can I tell which one's are warped? cheers, Alastair.

Might be a silly question but i have been on the hks us website and it doesnt even list this?? but would a HKS pully off a Skylark r33 gtr fit a zed?? what i did notice on the website is that certain ones fitted alot of engines?? Like i say it might just be a silly question as i dont know much you know :tongue: Kirbz

Went out for a spin , came home and let it tickover for a min, i noticed the revs were gently going up and down between about 550 and 850rpm, very smoothly though. Anyone know why? Thanks,

Quite bizarre this...Not too good at electrics so thought someone out there might be able to help? All instruments work fine but when I give the beastie a bit of wellie the temp guage drops to the bottom as the boost guage rises...power drain I guess but am puzzled as it should do that all the time as the boost guage moves due to the small amounts of current the guages draw (or is it because theese things go so fast that gravity pulls the needle down!!?)

After driving then sitting in traffic for a while my revs will rise from 750 to 950 rpm it was ok a few weeks ago could it be the temp sensor which was bought new may last year?

if I follow the pipe that leads off the downpipes just b4 where the cat would be they go up behind the wheel arch liner with a small metal pipe bent at a right angle- is this the AIV pipe? and if so, if i drill a hole in it will it stop gurgling? btw the car has been de-catted and just has 2 backboxes tnx

i'm considering having the engine out to renew a few bits.... cam belt water pump cooling hoses can anyone add anything else you would consider doing as a matter of course seeing when the engine is out...like turbo seals etc.....? regards chris

My 1990 TT has an aftermarket wheel fitted. Consequently the cruise control doesnt work, although the on/off light does. I dont think the Hicas works either. I've been offered a standard wheel; this has three buttons on it apparently and is off a 1990 car. Is there circuitry within the wheel which will make everything work? Cheers ed

Today I donned my facemask and gloves, and removed that thing under the bonnet, only problem was i unearthed a load of dirtyness!! Have cleaned it up quite well, just a bit more time on the fiddly bits and all should be ok. It does seem like the needle on the temp guage doesnt go up as far now, but i wager that im imagining it, just so i think i wasnt wasting my time!!

Recently i've noticed that my car has been feeling very slow. It runs fine, no cutting out and i'm also getting full boost when i accelerate. I feels as if the engine is holding back, but there is no mis-fire or any smoke of any sort. I did a quick, rough count of my 0-60 time on the way home from work and i got to 7 seconds before i hit sixty! :(. Also things like before, when i accelerated hard the wheels span in first, second and sometimes third, now they don't even spin in first! Hi all my Z is in bits! I need to know how to take the bottom cover off to get to the lower bolts of thw water pump. I've undone all the bolts but it looks like it wont come past the bottom pulley, and I cant remove that as there seems to be no way of locking it up so it doesnt spin? I've looked at the service manual but even that doesnt help?? Please can anyone tell me what to do as im sat here looking at a poorly z scratching my arse Cheers Steve

ok so my clutch finaly gave up, so i got hold of a exedy clutch (40% more power etc) got the car to the garage, then got a phone call that night, its already got a duel plate nismo clutch and lightened flywheel!!! :shock: anyone know where i can get one of these fixed? :)

Hi all, where i live 'Shetland Isles' the highest octane we can get is 95!! and my Z32 has just had a new ECU with a JWT chip and i know it needs more octane in the fuel than 95. So my question is what and where is the best to use, cause i read a few articles and it says normal octane booster only raises it by 0.2 octane not 2, which means i would need 10 bottles! :x: Must be something better out there.
