    I've just been outside finally getting round to replacing my PCV valves and all the hoses. I started on the driver's side as that's apparently easier... I've managed to remove the main hose - the one that connects to the PCV valve. Removing the PCV valve itself is proving to be a major pain in the arse. :( I have a deep 19mm socket, but I presume it must be too deep as when it's on the valve, there's no way of attaching anything to it as the pipes from the brake master cylinder get in the way. A "less deep" socket won't go onto it properly. Can someone who's done this tell me which tool is the best to use for this? Should I just go and buy a 19mm spanner …

    Have i got the pipes right? I disconnected pipes from the standard solenoid and used the pipes from there. I used the actuator side for the com of the avcr valve but and used the other pipe from the valve and connected that to the other side the avcr. Is this right? Also does anyone know a good website for a conversion chart for PSI into kg/cm2?

    went out on a 200 mile round trip so everything got nice and warm...but can't get above 10 psi i have done a few searches on here but wanted anyones thoughts on the most likely thing to go for... i will be running the self diagnostics early next week...but in all other respects the car works fine cheers chris

    Hi all Long post....(sorry) Just been giving the ZX a good thrashing in Cornwall last week and experienced a temporary moment of safety boost. No problems at all on the m-way down last Saturday, the car felt responsive and eager (happily hit 145 in no time and cruised at a good 3 figure speed :rolleyes: ). It was fine the next day too. But on Monday, after an hour's drive in the 28 deg C heat it would only reach the 7psi mark on the guage and felt way down on power. (I had refilled at a BP garage the previous evening with 95ron u/l fuel as usual - UK car, so ok to use). I left the car for a few hours and it was fine for the drive back to my hotel.     I have just been out in the Z after finishing putting another gearbox on. All was going fine; not going mad just tootling around the next village until i hit quite a steep gradiant. Thats the point when the gearbox seemed to slip. I lost 95% of drive :( .Managed to get to the top of the hill and checked under the bonnet and underneath the car to look for leaks. All was ok :dance: Problem was that i was at the bottom another hill so i tried 1st gear and it drove as normal. The box i got hadn't been used for 2 years. Do you think its fooked or its bedding itself in.do you think i may need more oil? or could it be the torqe converter? Its an auto by the way. Thanks

    Does anyone know anyone in the South west/midlands/oxfordshire that can do a Zed TT engine swapover for a good price? I'll need both cars transported too. I have decided that my red Z is much cleaner than the 40K Blue one and I'm gonna take the engine out of the blue one and put it in the Red one. That will leave me with a Blue Z with Leather interior & recently installed recon'd autobox & borked engine. I'll basically be selling that for someone else to repair or break. Body work is a bit tatty at the back on the blue one. So if anyones interested in a complete blue Z to break or get the engine repaired, let me know. I'll be looking for 1k for it (…

    I drove the car yesterday back from the alarm company and 2 problems arose which are starting to bug me! The first is when i accelarate the temp gauge goes down and sits at a slightly lower temp than normal the more i accelerate the lower it goes, cant seem to figure out whats wrong! The second being the greddy boost gauge iv got installed when i start the car the boost gauge goes right to zero and stays there and doesint budge but the reset button and memory buttons come on and the red light for when u go into boost comes on aswell! The stock boost gauge works fine and sits below zero near -7 as normal and winds up to zero wen you rev slightly but i again cant …

    can anyone shed some light on this matter? car is hunting all the time from about 450rpm to 1500rpm, black smoke coming out of exhausts( i know its over feulling) but why? have cleaned some connectors as direct by geoff at zedworld but is still doing it. also it won't go over 5500rpm now. it's also an auto. have checked temp sensor(cleaned connector) also the O2 sensor connectors were cleaned and the TPS sensor connectors..... HELP! :cry:

    havnt had the car long but noticed that if i accelerate smoothley every thing appears fine but if i try to put too much power down from standing or try to accelerate quickly while trying to overtake i get a bad vibration fron the rear of the car help please :cry: :cry:

    Had a little spill 23 hours after buying a 91 standard jap import TT, playing silly buggers with a roundabout and telegraph poles.... However after getting all the bits i needed, wings etc... I noticed the oil pressure guage is completely not reading (the pointer thing doesnt move at all) However ive driven about 4-500 miles since then and checked the oil regularly. Any ideas? are the sensors prone to damage etc.. Also im driving along without one of the empty plastic boxes under the rh wing and it hisses when the turbos arent spinnin up (some sort of pressure??) Also i hit the telegraph pole sideways (only did a wing!!!) the steering column now has about 1/4 in…

    I have just finishing transferring my trusty old engine to my new Z and the tickover is approx 1500 rpm +/- 200 rpm. The only difference is that I've fitted an RPS lightweight flywheel which is 11lbs instead of the stock 22lbs unit - could this be the reason? anyone else had this? Cheers Dave.

    car has been standing for about a year but starts first turn of the key, changed the se-nissan maxiflow filters to k&n filters today fired her up great no probs gave her a rev woah!! smoke smoke both exhausts!!!! i havent been able to take the car for a run for over a year only let it idle for 15mins at a time will the smoke clear once i have taken her for a blast ??? also noticed that with engine running i opend the oil filler cap and it was sucking in air is that normal??? there is no smoke at idle only when i rev her up!! exhaust is full of old oil from last year when i blew a piston ring is that what is being blown out, the smoke is black not blue,…

    Until I get down to Mr Dixon or up to Mr Duff, Im wondering whether anyone can help me. Running 5 psi boost even when I switch the evc 3 on!!! I used to get 15psi - I presume I got a boost leak. It *sounds* like it could be from the rear of the engine (passengers side), but im not sure. I have tried spraying wd40 around the pipes and raising the revs to break vacuum and blow the wd40 but i cant seem to find which pipe *may be split or leaking*. I have felt all around pipes, etc whilst raising revs but cannot feel any blowing from anywhere. Any ideas? What pipes is it likely to be? *An idiot proof drawing or photo would be good* :) Thanks

    Hi guys, I have noticed lately that i am having to top up the radiator with water every couple of days by roughly half a pint. The car is not over heating nor is there any bubbles when the engine is ticking over. Any ideas on what i can check next? Cheers Paul

    I've not used my car much for a few weeks, only really to move it in and out of the garage. It's been running a bit lumpy and yesterday morning when I actually intended to use it to go to work it insisted on running on about 3 1/2 cylinders and coughing petrol out the exhaust. So once again I went to work in the Xantia ... Anyway, last night as a quick test I put on my series II PTU - no difference. So then I swapped the spark plugs from the HKS Iridium to a brand new set of NGK PFR6B-11C's. The originals that came in the car from Japan were PFR6B-11 and are noticably shorter - the same as the HKS ones in fact. Anyway, immediately started first time, ran beautifully…

    I just brought an air filter (Blitz copy), off ebay and showed it to my mate who instantly said - "Is that gonna be big enough, because your aiming at 400 hp arent you ?" Would it be advisable for me to get two mushroom filters instead of one if i am aiming for 380 - 400 BHP ? If so do you know anyone that sells a t-piece ? If not i will get one made up from polished stainless! Thanks for any help - Mike :nelson:
