Since the pistons at the rear of the zed, take an absolute pounding and are generally the ones to fail! If you are doing a rebuild and can't afford forged jobs, might it be a good idea to reverse the order of the pistons, so that the ones that were under less strain are now taking the punishment?

Ok each cylinder on the passenger side Bank failed at 100% Leakage. As well as that, we used a camera on each cylinder and could see damage to exhaust valves. The head gasket is gone because the entire bank leaks to each cylinder. So, they quoted me 3000 for a full head skim new valves, gaskets, seals etc... This is way beyond what i am prepared to pay, this car cost me £3400. So any suggestions? i have £1500 for the engine replacement with jeff at ********, are there any other suggestions? What should i do?

I have a UK TT and recently fitted an AAC Valve from an import (due to a high idle problem), the import AAC Valve is different from a UK one, could this be the reason for the AAC valve been blown, as it has now stopped working and has high idle again!!! It only worked for a couple of days and sounded good as the idle when set, went to 750/800 rpm. But now back to 1500/2000rpm CheerZ

I think I can get some new Remus exhuasts cheap. Does anyone have a set? Are they any good? How loud are they? Will the car pass the MoT with them on? Also, they're only back boxes, so I have to rely on the rest of the standard system. What happens when the standard system rusts through? Do I have to buy a replacement Nissan system? How long do standard Nissan systems last? Oohhh, that was a lot of questions. :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: Thanks for your help gents (and any ladies if there are any)

Guys I've just fitted a Greddy boost guage - courtesy of Baz - and now I'm confused about what it's telling me. If I'm just driving along the guage reads negative. If I'm on slight acceleration it may creep up to zero and if I really give it some then the guage will climb to 0.5 bar maximum but no more than that. Is this right ? If the guage is giving me a negative reading unless under acceleration doesn't this mean that it's blocking the input tract ? I would have thought it would only ever read zero or above.....  Mark

Hi While getting my gear stick bushes replaced, thought we'd tighten the handbrake as it was pretty loose (it had been adjusted to the max before by you know who) and it was still crap  So of course the bloody thread keep turning on the adjustment screw.... hehe no friggin handbrake so buys the front part of handbrake cable and adjuster nut from Mr Feeny (thank you!) I've copied the info from the manual on adjusting it, are there any more detailed instructions on actually replacing this front cable with piccies if possible :) it would be nice to have a handbrake again.... if i keep going with this zed i'll replace most of it for new by…

Hello everyone, i´m looking for new wheels for my Z. Personaly I like the AVS model 5´s. But will these fit the car. I´ve done some research but I like to be sure on this one. The front is 18×8J - pcd 114.3 - offset 45, and the rear wheels will be 18×9J pcd 114.3 - offset 35. Well let me know, thanx.

So, my A/C compressor is siezed  Should I: 1. Disable the compressor circuit so the magnetic clutch cannot engage, but I still get partial climate control. Will this put strain on the magnetic clutch bearings when, say, I'm feeling like a spirited drive. How is this lubricated, and is it likely to sieze if I leave it a while before getting the A/C repaired. or 2. Disable the compressor mechanically by cutting/removing the drive belt? Is anything else driven by this belt, or is the lowest pulley just an idler/adjuster? I value the opinion of all experts out there! Cheerz StuartR

Anyone know why an induction timing strobe gives different signals when open and closed? I checked my timing yesterday, and lo and behold I was running at 0 TDC, zilch advance. No wonder it felt a bit flat  Redone the timing with the loop open, and whey-hey - back to full fierceness, even spinning on the dry away froma standstill  I know Andy Duff has warned about this before - take heed of this man  So, any ideas why this happens?
