General Discussions - 300ZX Related

So, my A/C compressor is siezed :cry: Should I: 1. Disable the compressor circuit so the magnetic clutch cannot engage, but I still get partial climate control. Will this put strain on the magnetic clutch bearings when, say, I'm feeling like a spirited drive. How is this lubricated, and is it likely to sieze if I leave it a while before getting the A/C repaired. or 2. Disable the compressor mechanically by cutting/removing the drive belt? Is anything else driven by this belt, or is the lowest pulley just an idler/adjuster? I value the opinion of all experts out there! :bow: Cheerz StuartR

Anyone know why an induction timing strobe gives different signals when open and closed? I checked my timing yesterday, and lo and behold I was running at 0 TDC, zilch advance. No wonder it felt a bit flat :rolleyes: Redone the timing with the loop open, and whey-hey - back to full fierceness, even spinning on the dry away froma standstill :dance: I know Andy Duff has warned about this before - take heed of this man :bow: So, any ideas why this happens? White H4* *** stuck in the A580 queue going out of Salford yesterday at quarter to six or so... I was in a company car - blue Golf - flashed when I overtook ( :D ) in the underpass and then was directly in front of you in the queue. BTW one of your headlights is way brighter than the other!

Was just coming off at Slough west when glanced in me side mirror and spotted dark coloured zed continuing down M4 towards Slough central around 08:40. Shame I didnt get time to poke my :tongue: out at you! :)

About 5ish looked pretty standard but then again i was going the other way but it did look like it had bigger alloys. Was it you???

Out of curiosity would i be able to convert my Right hand drive Jap import TT LWB Manual in to a Left hand drive vehicle! What would need to be changed? & How big is a conversion like this? & Do french people smell? All, I came out to find water dripping out of my 300 earlier this evening. I managed to drive like a metro driver a few miles to get home without the temperature rising above normal. When I stopped, the car was steaming from somewhere at the front about half way down the engine. It's fizzing away now and I am obviously not going to drive it until I can investigate. When driving home at 30mph the car felt perfect without any problems. Can I presume that this is simply a split pipe or something? All the roads around my area have been resurfaced and there is a totally unbelievable amount of stones flying up and around the car even at slow speeds. I guess there is…

Can you clean the injectors just a idea?, as I'am take the plenum off again tomorrow.would this do any good and If so what would you use to clean them and what would be the benefit

Aftermarket Gauages - I am after some but would like white facia with a blue illumination. Also, why do the prices vary so much. Is it a case of paying for the name or are they actually better? Any recomendations welcome. Cheers.

Is this a good idea? I've heard that it's not a good idea on stock turbos! Can end up over fuelling and suffering with running problems so at what point should you make the jump to 555cc injectors or bigger? TIA ;)

I have just bought a Blitz boost controller and I want to up the boost to 12 psi but i have a Mines ecu that was fitted to the car before i got it. Spotted a blue z heading southbound on the A34 just past Oxford this morning, 9ish.

Hi all, now I have anew Zed. But this time its an Import, few thing that Are different: (1) When I put the car in reverse (auto), it makes a beeb, beeb sound. But only when I select reverse is this normal? (2) When I put my foot on the brake padel a Red 'Lights' on the dash lights up. But the brake lights work. (3) What does the 'Power' button do? Hey guys, Bought my first 300zx a few weeks ago ('92 manual import), needless to say i'm quite enjoying it! ;) one question tho, the gearbox started to get a little noisey about a week ago - like a worn bearings type of noise, but u can only hear it in 1st & 2nd. I checked the gearbox oil and it seemed fine. Kinda strikes me as a bit odd as it seemed to happen over quite a short space of time. Has anyone had this or does anyone have any advice on this? Driving to work this morning with the front demister operating all of a sudden the car gave out a massive squeal and stalled..... A real 50p - 20p moment :shock: - the pounds fell before my eyes!! Restarted only for the squeal to return and a smell of burning rubber. However, turning off the A/C (econ mode) and everything was fine again. A/C on and engine goes off (when idling) :rolleyes: Is it fair to say the A/C compressor has siezed? Are these easy enough for a competent to replace? My Zed just seems slow, Baggins has also driven it and agrees, I'm trying to work out why. The car is a '93 UK Manwell Zed, with a Mongoose Exhaust, Cat's still in place, JWT type Induction kit, ASH Map Chip, Greddy Profec Boost controller, Greddy Intercoolers. I've had the car up to 15.5psi with not a hint of Dett, the car doesn't smoke, however the car does run very hot, after Baggins stuck the conzult on it (no error codes) it was running at about 100 degrees! which is apparently fooking hot. The car has 115K miles on it and is due a Cam-Belt change any time now. The car seems to struggle higher up the Rev range i.e. I would expect the revs to rise faster from 5-7…

Hi guys, noticed that after driving my car for 20 mins its seems to loose power when i try to boot it. If i boot it a further 4 times it gains a bit more power each time. If i switch of the car and restart straigt away its fine again. I do have a prblem with the positive terminal on my battery working itself loose all the time which i will be replacing. Would this cause said power loss. watching the stock turbo guage its normally just over the last but one line. then it only goes as far as the 3/4 mark line then it goes back up but only to just before the last but one line. Am going to order a proper boost guage to be more accurate. The engine does not sound …
