Hi all, Just having a bash at replacing shocks and springs - problem is I can't get the old shocks off. The bottom bolt through the clevis is unmoveable. Is the nut on the other side a captive nut or does it need removing before the bolt can be withdrawn? It seems impossible to get a socket on it anyway... Advice mucho appreciatedo RobH(o)

Sorry to bother you big man, but you were particularly helpful when I had the 5 cylinder issues and you happened to mention something re: valves. Basically, I cleaned the connector on the injector, I didn't remove all the green but I though it would be sufficient to at least get a contact. I checked to hear for the clicking with the screwdriver trick and it was definitely A-OK. But still not firing on number 5. Anyway went up to the factors and purchased some STP injector cleaner, dumped it in the tank with a full tank of Optimax and went for about a 30 mile run - fairly hard. Came home and it was sweet as a nut, I let it idle for a bit and it never misse…

the handling on my Z is pretty awfull, not that I have had much to compair it to, (other Z's) but I feel it could be a lot firmer. It seems to drift round corners and the handling feels rerally soft if you get what I mean. How much will it cost me for new shocks, springs and anything else that may need replacing?. I am talking stock replacement.... Cheers.

Hi all I got my ZX back fromt he garage after the 72K service today. The technician didn't replace the auto-box oil as he didn't have the gearbox sump gasket. I thought UK cars had a drain plug on the auto trans, but he said there defo wasn't one..... Any thoughts? Richard :smw:

Hi all, my 1990 N/A has developed a fault where when overdrive is switched on and I am cruising along, if I lift off the gas the revs go down to an idle almost immediately, then if I accelerate again the revs build back up to normal, this doesnt happen with the overdrive off, any ideas? I have spoke to Raydetinu who had a similar fault so I am pretty sure it is electrical but anyone else know of, or experienced this that could give me some more info to work on? thanks, Richard.

Any thoughts/opinions/experiences on using Slick 50 in a Zed, both in the engine (N/A) and gearbox (auto) ??? What would be the recommendation on the best oil to use??? (4 days and counting until Planet Z arrives at this location)

Had a weird steering problem on the 300 the other day. It's been feeling light and like it's not connected to the wheels for the first 15-20 miles of driving for a while now but I was driving her the other day and until a certain amount of lock (at over about 40mph) it went really heavy. But if I was turning a tightish corner it was really heavy then all of a sudden it went light and the steering jerked because I was pulling on it so much so I had to correct. In towns it doesn't seem to happen at all. What do we think this problem is? U.J? Speed sensitivity sensor? Rack? Fluid? Any help would of course be appreciated. Cheers Ivan

Just been looking on the thai 300zx club web site and come across a little 'how to' get new look headlights. I know there is better ways of doing this but at a cost of around 0p is this a good idea. Will it result in leaky headlights? Will it look crap? Suggestions please.... http://www.thai300zx.com/tech/DIY3_New_Lamp.html
