General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hi all The situation is I'm looking to get a hold of one of these cars. After a long search I have narrowed it down to these 3 motors. Mitsubishi GTO Toyota Supra Nissan 300z The purchased motor will be second hand. My preference is currently the 300z, manual ofcourse. But I'm keeping an open mind. I wanted you guys to note down which is your preference and an un-biased view on all three cars. All help is appreciated. Cheers all.

Really not happy ! :mad: I've sworn by T1-S's for years and just put a set of the new T1-R's on. They're so much less capable then the S's that I've lost confidence in the car. I'm getting wheelspin on standing starts and seriously reduced lateral stability ! I'm yet to play around with the pressures but I'm considering junking these and buying another set of T1-S's while they're still available ! I don't take the Zed out much in the winter but I like to arrive home alive when I do ! Disillusioned of Nottingham

Had this problem the other week but never got as bad as last night. Im obviously running aftermarket HKS cone filter, and taking the car out in the wet causes some bad ass hesitation problems - as the 99spec nose just throws water into the filter. (i was supposed to be making a guard for this last week - didnt get round to it, now im suffering) Im flying down the motorway in the wet, and eventually off down a side road for 5 miles then the car starts spluttering so bad it cuts out. I managed to get it to a car park and left it for about1 hour. When i got back i removed the air filter(it was soaking), put it ontop of the fan and idled the car for about 20 mins to d…

hi guys n galls im new to the z world but i love me car but i have a question i have a silver 92 import z32 n/a and i have fitted a lightend pully apex induction and a powerflow exhaust but now i want to decat it but there are temp probes eather side can these just be disconected or do they have to be in place hope i can get a answer or two. cheers millepeed

Hi to the group, Iam new to the world of zeds and have a problem with my zeds engine. Its seems to be running poorly, missing i think, anyway iam looking for a garage to have a look at it (not nissan) can anybody recommend a garage.(iam from chesterfield) thanks

As a new comer to this forum and the zed world I have asked a few questions on here, to hear the reply a few times "USE THE SEARCH" correct me if im wrong but alot of the topics on this forum have been covered on many a date, So if we all used the search what a boring forum this would be also probably a non exsisting one at that. Just to let you know I do know how to use the search but as this world is ever changing I prefer a up to date opinion rather than a post from 2 years or more back. Valve comes off :eek: ...........FOOK,FOOK and triple FOOK. The tyre tyre bloke ripped of the valve whilst ramming his lever in and out. :xxx: Normally they would just put a new valve in but not today they wouldn't. :nono: My allys got the small metal type. Has anyone here tried to dye the fitted matts in the zed? I have a set of 2 tone gray ones, that i need to dye black, then get the edges re bound, and have no idea if there is a special dye to use?

While under car yesterday,i noticed that the tub housing has A/R 48(intake side)written on it,they were recon jobs last year at Turbo Developments with 360 bearings,not 100% sure but i believe Skyline GTR T28s have A/R 48 on them,so would this mean i have bigger housings Tony

Hello All Just got my car MOT'd today, got an advisory of some structural rust on the INNER sill, near to where the suspension link bolts onto the chassis. Anybody replaced this before? Is it a straightforward job for a good body repair shop? I want a repair to last obviously, so don't mind getting the sill replaced rather than patching it over. Any good body shops near to London? Its started clicking when going up, does this mean i need to replace, or can i just repair it? i think it was caused by a build up of dirt ,as when i sprayed wd40 on it to free it one day the dirt was unbelievabl

Anyone fitted the GTR rear Brembo's on their Zed ? if so was it a straight forward task or any fabricating required and what discs did you use ? cheers smithy

Hi, I've loved the 300zx ever since I saw one as a child and now I'm (and they) are a little older I can finally afford to buy one and insure it! I am going to buy it as a second car so it wont do a hugh milleage which means the TT is viable :p I have tried to research the different models but There are a few things I'm a little confused about... Is the 2+2 actually longer than the 2 seater version? Are there any implications on handling/performance? Is a targa top alot heavier than a solid roof car? What is the general reliability like? I think I will struggle to find one which hasn't been thrashed (are there any?) so do they stand up well to a…

Hi Guys stuck in work at the mo and not got a lot of time so only done a quick search and not found the answer, so comming to work this morning and exhaust started to blow, got underneath and its my downpipe --Passengerside .......knackered. Hve a spare set but thought about decat---- would this be worth it on an N/A. what do I do with the recirc pipes. Pete :(

:confused: car is running like a pig! will run under 2500 rpm above that is like its running on 2 pots. I think its vacuum fault but not shure, as its when the turbos are coming in as if no petrol? any ideas would be helpful thanks in advance allan

Is there anyone near me (Darlington area) or thereabouts, who could have drive of my car and tell me what's wrong with the steering / suspension. I mentioned before about problems with steering to the left and being well bumpy. I just can't put me finger on what it is. Is there anyone there who reckons they could tell what the problem is if you drove it. Want to get it fixed soon, the Z is gonna be my everyday car soon so want it to be ship-shape. Cheers guys Jon

Hey my third post, sorry jus discovered this forum for UK ZX peeps. Basically i got a new battery put in and reconditioned my altenator. Thing is b4 getting a new battery n reconditioning it, my car wud have the power light on when i wud put my foot right down and sumtimes power wud cut out if i was braking to go very slow. Now after getting a new battery n recon alternator, the car cuts out hardly maybe once in a month, n the power light hardly cums on. But after this alteration this shud hardly happen so im assuming the person who reconed the alternator didnt do a proper job? Or cud i be gettting a power loss elsewhere?

Well basically my cars smoking like hell, and my left turbos is blown. So basic question is do u guys think im doing the right thing by getting them reconditioned and im paying 500 quid to get the engine taken out to access the turbos. Once they are accessible im thinking of sending them to http://www.turborepairs.com/ whom are charging 195 quid for each turbo. I've been told if the damage is worse i have to pay more. The mechanic who is gonna do the job says that the job hes gonna do mus be crap if its that cheap. He says im looking at least 300 quid for each turbo. I'm putting me side lights in with the 99'spec indicators-just wondering if this is ok legal-wise? Where's Paul when you need him? Wouldn't have thought it a problem as the fogs combine the side lights!-if you know better t'wud be appreciated! :)
