new to this forum and 300zx,s going to look at jap import tt tomorrow im a qualified mechanic but is there any specific points that need checking on these cars. thanks.

Ok guys obviously when car is cold idle is higher but mines is sometimes idling at 2k when cold, when you change gear at lower revs it will jump up to that 2k between gear changes, car is sometimes fine though. Also occasionally when warm the car will idle at around 1.1 - 1.5k, this doesn't happen much but both probs are kinda annoying. What can i check and what are the possible causes? Cheers.

Hey everybody. I just had a question. I was thinking of ordering a Redline ECU chip from E-bay because its really cheap. Would it be safe to put on a 93 300ZXTT. I already have the full catback exhaust system and the JWT intake. I wanted to complete the Stage 3 set up. I would love the JWT ECU Chip. But I dont have the money for it right now. Also. What does it mean when they say the ECU Chip is already programed. Does that mean I can have the shop install it without tuneing it.

since buying the zed ive not been boosting properly 0.6bar...upon inspection i found the aftermarket apexi solonoid under the bonnet to be disconnected at one side, what i belive to be the wastegate hoses (which come up from the turbo region) are plugged up with two screws, code 55 reads from the ecu. so ive reconnected the other side of the apexi soloniod to the blanked hoses and t'd it off. now on the way home tonight im only boosting to 0.4bar???and car feels really heavy!!! has the apexi soloniod packed up and thats why it been disconnected? if i put the hoses back to their original places and reconnect the standard boost soloniods (disconnected at…

Does anyone know if you need to soak K&N or blitz air cones in any special solvent or oil befor they need to be fitted - the BLitz style kit i boght came with no instructions (bloody Ebay). Its only my dad said he had to soak his K&N cone for his motor-bike Cheers Z Man

Hi guys, I'm trying to remove my gear-shifter to replace the bushings, and it was all going just grand until I got to the final bolt on the linkage at the bottom of the shifter. The problem is the thing won't bugde. I've spent probably half and hour trying to get it to move, with varying levels of force, but obviously don't want to overdo it... I also decided that walking away from the job until tomorrow morning might be wise when I started having vivid fantasies about beating the guy who designed it unconscious with an oven door. Question is, am I alright to use something like WD40 on it to loosen the bolt? I realise it gets pretty hot down there so don't re…

Hi all just wondering if anyone could help! Had a perfectly good head unit in the car carozzeria think its pioneer! but it wouldnt pick up radio signals maybee because its import dont know! so decide to put in sony one ive got! took out centre console and it was like a box of snakes!!!!!! wires everywhere!!!! i have an adapter from sony unit but the pin plug dosent seem to fit the zeds original plus i think ive locked out the head unit now so no music :headvswal can anyone explain what i need as this is very frustrating aghhhhh! Insurance renewal plopped on the mat a few days ago. With Lifesure (broker) policy through AON (underwritten by Royal Sun Alliance) £567. Call AON directly, they can't poach Lifesure business but if you email them on classiccarsdudley@aon.co.uk to request a quote, they're allowed to talk to you = £504 for exactly the same policy Call Lifesure back - they have to go away and think about it. Got the call just now, Lifesure using Highway = £502. Job done - ta. Moral: always get more than one insurance quote every time you're coming up to renewal.

Right im going to de-cat my z and pray i dont get the blue smoke... does it matter that i have a swb? or are they both the same? im also looking at getting the down pipes as well and doing all the work myself, has anyone done this and is it quite easy? cheers all :D :bow: :bow:

looking for spring reccomendations i'm not sure what springs i have at the mo as i bought them off another member on here but they are around 40mm drop (the springs are red) using standard shocks but the fronts are a little to low (the top of the tyre level with the arch) whats springs are reccomended for the z dont want to go back to stock but not as low as present many thanks kev

hi im pretty new on here since buying my first zx. its an import and im about to do the oil cooler upgrade. i have a new engine oil cooler and will be using the old one for the auto transmission fluid. one question what is best for flushing the old oil out of the cooler? thanks
