General Discussions - 300ZX Related

The sealbelt mechanism on the driver's side seems to have gone - it will stop pulling out entirely and then will pull out all the way and not pull back in again. I've found a second hand one from a broken car that i can get for £18 - first, is this a good deal? Second, is replacing it something that a regular guy could do, or would a mechanic be needed? Does anyone have a guide to doing this? Thanks

Where is the best place to get full interior trim replacement kits from and how hard are they to fit? I am going to be buying a TT 300ZX in the coming weeks and most of the interiors look rubbish! Any advice would be great. Thanks

The injector on number six cylinder on my Zed has given up the ghost, apart from the following what else should I do when the plenum is off; 1. Plenum bypass. 2. EGR removal. 3. Hoses connected to fuel rail. Any other advice will be gratefully appreciated!

It's come to my attention that when it rains, the heater pod and clock light up while the cars parked. It would look like this is the cause of my flat battery every time it rains, does any one know which fuse box the fuse for these is in? Got a feeling water may be getting in.

Just fitted a kenwood dvd/monitor but cant get a pic when dvd is on, everything else is working fine, even getting sound from dvd just no picture. there is a wire from the stereo unit that should go to the handbrake sensor, and also one to connect to the reverse sensor which i didnt think would be necesary to connect, could this be the problem? if so is there an easier way than stripping the centre console to get to the hand break sensor, could i for example use the turbo timer wire that goes to the hand break. if not which wire do i use to connect the stereo wire to? any help greatly apreciated cheers si

Does anyone know who is currently selling the Red 99 spec front badge? Discovered that my badge is missing, sometime between a week ago yesterday and last Tuesday! Either someone has prised it out or it fell out! Either way it was the cause of my problems this weekend, with the rain creeping in the hole and onto the filter! So I now need to replace it, before I bugger the replacement MAF up!! ;)

Hi Guys, can anyone help me with the OEM part number for the 2 x turbo intake outlet gaskets (I think this how they're best described). my alternator is not charging the battery (i've checked the voltage, no increase when car running, voltage drops when turn on lights, heating etc) the battery light does not light up when you turn the key to the ign position i know that the alternator will not work unless the battery light is ok so i have checked both the bulb, lampholder and tracks on the speedo and all works fine. i've checked thatthe 2 pin plug is corectly pluged in to thge alternator, the belt is tight and the fat wire is bolted on firmly i,ve checked the 10A engine fuse in the engine bay fuse box (although i think that gives the battery light on when it shouldnt be fault) i'm…

about 4pm just going over the M5

when i switch my head lights on (which work fine) my clocks dont light up and the numbers for the air con on the left hand side go really dim i can only just see them is this something as easy as a fuse or is it more complicated than that, i did have to put the booster pack on it to start it today cos she aint been used for 2 weeks, if it is just a fuse could you point out which 1 it is thanks in advance, Chris. :confused:

just bought my first Z and im a bit worried about it. been running fine all week no problems. then yesterday it overheated on my way home so i stopped and let it cool off and put more water in it and continued fine. then today it started to get hot again but it didnt quite get to maximum so i limped home, on my way home the windows started steaming up with the blower on and i opened the bonnet to find steam coming from the front of the engine. i cant see where it is as theres pipes and wires in the way. im confused and a bit scared now! any help would be great. thanks, Joe

I'll try and be as concise as possible. Friday night, park the car on the drive and don't use it again until Saturday evening. When I start it, it sounds like it's only running on 5 cylinders so i check the coil pack connectors and they all seem fine. I'm not going far, only 2 minutes over the road to the supermarket, so I decide to take the zed anyway as it might just be damp due to it hammering down all day. Sounds like it's running on 5 all the way to the shop with ALOT of smoke coming from the passenger side exhaust. Park up, come back out and running on 6 again :hyper: . Drive back home and take a slow, tight, left hander and goes back down to 5 again and starts…

The big question I suppose, I have about 5k to spend on a good Zed but I need the inside track on how reliable they are, what the real MPG is and just how much they genuinely cost to run in real life. I obviously want the TT but what do people think of the NA model? I have seen a 95 NA convertible for 4995 which looks a steal! Cheers, Ben
