I will start by apologising about the essay, i want to make sure i get it all down :) , My problems started a couple of weeks ago, driving home one night came off a rounabout and put the toe down a little and the car hesitated, coughed then farted its way into safe mode, I had to limp it home (2 miles) at no more that 2500 revs, first thoughts where ive buggerd it beyond repair because id never experianced "safe mode" before, i spent the next couple of days playing about with no joy, I then decided on a local auto electrican, he came out for diagnostics and found the maf had packed up and the dredded code 34 (knock sensor). I had a think about it and de…

Just mocking up the new plenum and intake and just about got the supercharger to fit. Inner wing needed a brief appointment with Mr. Lumphammer, but got about 1/2" clearance on s/c body now. Worked out how to fit everything apart from the intake pipe. The mismatch between the s/c outlet and the intake elbow is severe. Tried all my bends in metal and silicone but nothing anywhere near close. The diameter reduces from the intake to the s/c also. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on anywhere to search on the net or anywhere for some really tight bends. Could be cast or plastic. Or any cars which have a really tight elbow fitted somewhere as standard. Ta.

whether the motor in the cruise control actuator should run all the time the cruise control is switched on, or whether it only starts up when a certain speed is reached. Still trying to figure out whats stopping my cc working, the ECU has passed the diagostics, the actuator motor works, maybe the motor unit isn't holding a vacuum or the internal solenoid is u/s. When a vacuum is independently applied to the vacuum part this works and moves the cable so this bit doesn't seem to be at fault. cheers

Well i have 3 months in which to find and fit a baby seat. Being a 1-car family, it will have to go in the Z. We went to Halford's today and none of their seats could fit in the back, and the fitter suggested that a Nissan dealer might be able to suggest a seat. I was a bit dubious about this, because the seat didn't fit by a lot. So anyway, i figured if anyone would know if ther'es a baby seat that will fit a Z then it's you guys. Any ideas?

Hi everyone, My car has failed the MOT due to the following reason. The same failure also on the offside front. The car has the big brake kit from Smithy fitted with the Goodridge braided hoses. I have taken a couple of pictures. I am presuming that the hose previously passed through the hole indicated by the red arrow in the first picture. With the calipers moved further away now, it looks like the pipe doesn't reach to that routing point anymore, so it hasn't gone through it. Is this correct, or is it possible for it to go through that point, or do I need to get some new brake piping from the caliper that's longer so that it will reach t…

I have bought some wheel spacers and longer studs to suit my new wheels, had a quick look at the job today. The first bit looks straight forward - wheel off, caliper and disc off. But before i go ahead, can anyone tell me if i'll need special tools / large sockets etc to remove the hub ? Im assuming it needs to come off to change the studs ? Any help would be appreciated as i dont yet have a manual for it and i would rather only bring enough equipment / tools home from work to do the job. also id like to be able to do the full job without any obstacles. Thanks

After a set of cheap-ish multi spoke (BBS-a-like, Vortex and similar) alloys for my other half's new Z. Just wondering what people would recommend. I did a LOT of alloy wheel research a few years ago but I'm a bit out of touch on what's now available. I know a few people have bought off Ebay and I was also wondering how they've got on with the alloys? Price is a major issue so unfortunately any mention of Works, Image and the like will have to go unheeded... :( 17" would be good, 18" would be better, 19" would be too much ;) Any width would also be good but a staggered fitment: front 8.5, rear 9.5 would be ideal but again it's the cost that's going to lead the decision I'…
