With your GRP skills I have a question for you.....

I have a 350z front bumper, how easy do you think it would be to bond onto a 300zx front bumper to make a mould?

Hmmm...all depends on how much you'd need to chop out (or extend) one or t'other. To be honest, if you're just going to use the bonded bumpers to make a mould, they don't have to be structurally sound, only good enough to get a decent shape. Is it a stock 350Z bumper onto a stock Z32 you're talking about chap?

Yes, stock 350z onto stock z32 - they look to be a pretty good match when I laid the 350z bumper in front of the car, but didn't feel ready to start chopping about until I had a 2nd opinion

Sorry for the delayed reply mate, stayed over at the studio. If you're definately taking a mould, use anything you like to bridge gaps to form the shape between the two bumpers, as long as you can get a good, smooth finish and it'll stand being picked up/moved about. Although I like working with fibreglass I find it a bit tiresome to use it to shape things. Using extruded polystyrene blocks is a good material to sculpt in, but being a bit old school, I've just devised a method involving clay to sculpt the plug followed by a combination of latex and mod-roc/plaster as a brace, then making the copy out of a homemade ABS/MEK solution. End result will hopefully be a copy that is essentially one piece of plastic which will not only have a good degree of flex, be far stronger than fibreglass and be easily repairable if the worst happens. That's the theory anyway. I'll be testing it once I finally have my heated garage/workshop at the end of January! Good luck with it Steve :)

You know you can actually buy a front bumper in 350z design for our zed ? available from japan with various pics floating around here somewheres ;)

The name escapes me at the mo but it's a black and gold zed.
