Just like to say hi. Recently bought a Uk zed targa tt auto. Im very happy with it. Its done 80k and the only mods are the exhaust and the standard alloys have been refurbed a charcoal colour.

I traded in an fto toward it and it really is in another league compared to that.

First mod will be new alloys I think.

I'm a dump valve fan. Are they easy enough to fit to the zed??? cheers

welcome to the club mate - dump valves can go either in the engine bay or mounted to the lower sides each side of the rad, depending on what make of valve you get. either way theyre pretty straightforward to fit.

I quite like the fto's what do they handle like in comparison ? pity they didn't do a twin turbo i'm sure they'd have been popular :D

i always think that FTOs deserved more power. they need to have been turbocharged. theyve definately got the looks and the potential.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I have a pic, will try and get it uploaded. The fto was a good car but it does look and sound faster than it actually goes! Think your right, it needed a turbo. Handling was v good although I never pushed it that hard. I prefer the rwd of the zed. I've always fancied either a skyline or a 300 and after testing a few of both I went for the zed.

fitting dump valves is straight forwards, getting the old ones off can be fun. Remember you need 2.

Hello and welcome! :D

Hi

Welcome the the Z nut house, look forward to seeing you and your Z at some of the Southwest meets...

Hi Joe and welcome. Their all a bit :wack: on here. Infact some of them are total basket cases. Thats why I feel so at home. If we budge up a bit i'm sure there's room for another.

Dump Valves and Autos don't really work. They'll only dump if you lift off the gas after a boot full of rev's. So you maybe a bit disapointed with the results. You'd be much wiser getting a good set Bridgestone S02 tyres first, then bigger brakes, then get the car chipped and a boost controler so it fly's.

Happy Zedding

i prefered Dump Valves on the auto. Gets tiresome on a the manual

:nono: OH no you don't

(just getting into panto mode)

Dump valves are a waste of time full stop and on an auto is even more pointless.

Oh hello and welcome to the club :D

Other than making your car sound like a coach, what's the purpose of dump valves? I've never heard a satisfactory explanation. (Please excuse my ignorance)

A lot of people with 500 FWHP have dump valves because the standard recirc valves will not cope with the boost presures required and when I fitted my dump valves it was because the only aftermarket recircs I could get that would handle the required umph cost about £600 and the Apexi dump valves cost about £240. So having spent thousands of pounds I shouldn't have dump valves set on Quietest setting was a good compromise.

The reason for dump valves though is to discharge back presure on gear shifts thus aiding spool up times. It may give you a few tenths of a second per lap in full race setup, but you won't see any real difference even with hard road driving. Most people just like the Choomph.

Welcome bud , don,t listen to em dump valves on an auto are fine .  :D :D

Thanks for making me feel welcome guys. Yes I hope to get to some meets if and when the sun comes out! Thanks for the advise on the dump valves mark. They seen an expensive mod so I wouldnt want to be dissapointed. As for making it fly... I traded in an fto remember and my other car is an MR2 N/A... To me it already feels like its gonna take off!!!

And I have just read the 2nd page of this post... dooh... Dump valves seem to be a split decision then. Even if they dont do anything I have to admit I do like the noise!
