350Z aircon compressor in a Z32
As many of us have found, itโs nigh on impossible to find a decent, working Z32 aircon compressor these days, and reconditioning is one of the few available options. However, a guy from LOJ Conversions in the US has been using 350Z compressors (with a small modification) to replace the Z32 unit. See 17:30 in the following YouTube vid: https://youtu.be/09Fd7OmRPs4?is=Kkr0357GfyvXsu4H Certainly food for thought as theyโre not making any more of โem! Cheers Steve ๐

Simply Japanese at Beaulieu 19th July 2026
Sorry Richard, Iโm going to have to give this one a miss. Apparently my 16 year old wants to do an escape room with her friends (kids today eh?๐๐). Ironically, a trip to Beaulieu with the family would have been less expensive ๐คฃ Have a brilliant day! ๐

UK TT Manual Project
Thatโs great news Rob. Will be brilliant to get her running better than ever and eliminate the smoking issue. Iโm liking the retro head unit as well ๐

UK TT Manual Project
Sorry to hear the potentially bad news Rob. Worst case Iโd opt for the rebuild if budget permits. Be a real shame to see her go but I fully appreciate the practicalities. Good luck and Iโm hoping for a less drastic outcome. CheerZ Steve ๐

Looking for a working aircon compressor suitable for reconditioning
Hi everyone My newly revived zed is currently in Jimmer's capable hands for a 120k service. Unfortunately he's discovered that the aircon compressor had seized and needs to be replaced. He's advised that I have an early style pump with both pipes on the side of the housing (not on the rear like the 93 onwards models). Does anyone have a working compressor, perhaps from from a breaker, that they're willing to part with? I'll need to get it fully reconditioned. Also, can anyone confirm the right part number so that I can be confident I'm sourcing the correct item? CheerZ Steve

Pre-Beaulieu road trip
Very nice Richard. I take our family down to the New Forest when I can and we often stay in Lyndhurst, Highcliff and New Milton. Lovely part of the world and some great pics ๐

Finally - she's back!
Afternoon all After 12 years off the road (tax disc ran out on 31/07/2013!) I took my zed to our local MOT tester this morning. Pleased to report that she passed with no advisories! I was present for the test and had a chance to inspect the car when she was on the ramps. All looks tidy and is a testament to my weather tight garage! Renewed the tax and took her off SORN as soon as I got home. Next job is a proper service and possibly a 120K service and more thorough health check. Big thanks to AndrewG for running a Conzult check for me (I couldn't find my cable anywhere!) Hope to see you all at a meet soon! CheerZ Steve

Clutch issue after car standing for a long time..
Update - left it for a while and pumped the clutch repeatedly to get the pressure back up. Now changing into all gears again ๐ฅฐ Next job is to swap out the instrument cluster for a new one and prep it for an MOT. Then I'll just need to remember how to drive a manual again! ๐ CheerZ Steve ๐

Clutch issue after car standing for a long time..
Happy Friday all! I've finally started work on my Zed! It has sat in my garage since 2013 with only a couple of engine warm ups. The last time I turned her over was July 2023 when I discovered that my braided fuel lines had started to perish and were pissing fuel all over the engine bay. Fuel lines have now been replaced along with a new battery, oil, coolant and fuel. Pleased to report she's now starting up and idling fairly well. However, I went to move her out of the garage for the first time today and was unable to engage reverse gear. Clutch pedal feels ok but there's more travel than I remember before it hits resistance. I've found that I can get the car in gear with the engine off, but not when it's running. An RPS Twin turbo MAX Street Clutch was fitted around 800 miles ago (in 2009!). Assuming this points to slave cylinder, but would welcome any suggestions before I start heading off down a blind alley! CheerZ Steve ๐
