Ok following my idle problems my z is now idling even worse, its idling very unstable and goes lower than .500 rpm sounds like it will stall but it just moves about all crazy.

yesterday i took off the sensors including the one on the air intake and cleaned them but i sprayed switch lube on them :S maybe this was a bad idea as now its idling lower than before when it was idling too high????

oo and i also just put on an induction filter this afternoon :)

can anyone tell me what i have done???

The idle position switch (i think thats wat its called) seems to be in the wrong position as its turned as far as it will go anti clockwise, and if i position it central it idles too high ggrrrrrrrrr.

Get your self a new water temp sensor for the ecu and then set the base idle following the instructions in the manual or search on here and if your car is not running 100% its best to not go adding mods to it as you could just be creating more problems along the way.

Lube??? why would you lube electrical connections?

Get yourself down to any decent motorfactors and buy some contact cleaner, its only a couple of quid. Before you buy any parts, properly clean the connections with a brillo or scouring pad to get any corrosion of the contacts. Try cleaning the AFM, TPS (throttle position sensor), Water temp sensor and the CAS. Reposition the TPS into its default position and work from there.

Have you checked for any error codes?

Alloy wheel cleaner, eg Wonder Wheels, is excellent for cleaning the green gunge of the electrical connections. I get a little pot of it and dip the connector in for a few minutes, then rinse it off.

sorry im bit new to this... whats the afm and cas? when i repositon the throttle position it idles way too high and just now while it was idling too high the right end can started smoking geeeez, but it seems ok now and isnt smoking.

the AFM is the air flow meter, the black box before your air filter. the CAS is the Camshaft Angle Sensor which sit at the front of the right hand bank of cylinders. Its a circlar metal object thats pokes out the front of the cambelt cover just below the rubber hose that goes into the plenum.
