im new the the whole world of zeds and im currently lookin to buy one of my own, but while im waiting till after xmas to get it and for a clean one to turn up at the right price ive been lookin into them and cant find a whole lot of detail on what mods and tuning can be done, as for parts either, ive tuned the tits off a skyline and wana see what i can do with one of these now as skylines are just everywhere now.

so what im asking is, what type of mods are really available. i cant find a power fc although i can find the extension lead for these cars, i know the e-manage is available too. as for the elbows and front pipes are these made into the exhaust systems for these cars or are they upgraded seperately? and if so what way does the system run, is it two pipes all the back of do they go into one and split again near the rear? then theres the afm's, good for 500 bhp i believe or have i been misled?

All mods you could possibly want are available! Just depends how deep your pockets are lol. Have a look on http://www.300zx.com for most possibilities :)

Cheers,

Andy

Hello and welcome.

Getting to 400bhp is a fairly straight forward task with these machines but 500bhp is a very expensive exercise.

IMHO they are in a different league for driving experience and looks compared to a skyline, however they are no way near as tuneable.

thanks andy got on to that site just now and god some of it is just silly money but im sure itll all be worth it in teh end.

glenn, i wasnt lookin for another skyline within this car just something to take its place :D as for tunability as andy sats its all about the pockets, unfortunatly mine arent that deep :( not with a house on the horizon and the other half wanting another sprog, this will be a long project, something to keep me busy on the cold nights :)

Principals are the same for all turbocharged cars, its just knowing what each individual parts limits are....

Induction, Exhaust, ECU remap and 1 bar boost will give you close to 400hp flywheel. There are other tweaks there such as Lightened Pulleys, flywheels..etc

Standard Injectors are good for up to 15/16psi max. Standard Intercoolers are pretty poor at anything over standard boost but are adequate up to 1 bar.

Standard tubs are good for 16/17psi.

Clutch can start to slip beyond 1 bar boost.

Fuel pump and MAF are good for 500hp+

As said 400hp is relatively cheap, but to go higher you then need larger Injectors, Intercoolers, Turbos.....and for reliablity a fresh rebuild with forged pistons, new bearings, gaskets..etc.

the large majority of TT's on this forum will have only gone as far as "up to 400hp" which only really requires a remap of the stock ecu which many traders do for around £100.

Those that have seeked more power with much Bigger turbos have gone for the the likes of AEM, Zemulator, E-manage, Link , DTA, although many still use remapped stock ECU's still.
