  1. andyduff, yeah i know it sounds wierd thats why i cant trace the damn fault, my next step will be to swap all the plugs round and to clean the connections on the ptu, thanks guys i'll let you know how i get on. :hyper:
  2. hi all, ive got this slight miss fire on my 1990 uk tt auto, i think ive narrowed it down to the LHS bank of cylinders ( drivers side ), the way i did this was to slightly rev the the RHS bank, i think this lets the air in to the plennum feedding the opposite side, i hope im right !!! :nelson: right then doing this i get the miss fire, so i disconnected the coil packs one by one and the revs dropped on all six cyllinders, next i disconnected the injectors and cleaned the terminals and tried again but to no avail. i also put a long screwdriver against the injectors and put the other end against my ear and could listen to the injectors clicking away!! well im doing my nut trying to find this missfire so any help would be much appreceated :hyper:

  4. brilliant service again at c & s wood, a massive thanks to phill who replaced my knackerd turbos on my zed and did the cranckshaft oil seals & camshaft seals at the same time!! the service was absolutly a1 and he even called me the day after to see how everything was, and the zed was really clean when i picked it up what a craking service many thanks lads.
  5. waey hey, a white nice looking body kitted zed passed me on the way to caernarfon the other week had stickers on the front wing like fast and furious, i flashed you in my blue audi, yeah u know who u r
  6. how about a nice audi the a4 cabriolet looks really nice, the s4 or s6 really awsome bout 300bhp if they like the loud pedal !! lexus 200 looks good too :D
  7. had a new engine fitted, did about 1000 miles in it and now the turbos are knackerd what a cruel world it is!!! would be very intresting to have a poll on reliability with modded and unmodded zedz, maybee they dont take well to higher boost ect ???
  8. if its the same engine as me ex's tigra 16v then they are well known for this bore problem she had to have a new engine fitted in the end, always worth having a second oppinion on the car bud!!
  9. will they fit an auto?? been looking at these but there is no guarantee with them can they be trusted???
  10. sorry to barge in on your post guys but is it a bad thing that i can do nearly 100mph in 2nd gear in my auto, im sure most of you have tried it, its very near the red line, and yes it will go into the redline if you keep it floored!!!
  11. 2nd pair of turbos in 8,000 miles and second engine too, apart from that its not bad
  12. try plenty of 3in1 oil spray and a ring spanner give the spanner a good slap with a hammer, failling that just grind them off and get some new stainless bolts, but use some anti scuffin paste with stainless bolts cos if the threads bind together you will never undo them!!
  13. well to be honest when i was looking to buy my zed it was a manual i was looking for, but i couldent find any good ones anywhere so i settled for an auto, really glad i did too, sorry man boys !! yeep the auto is great and lovely to drive expecially with overdrive off !! 0-60 man is faster 0-100 auto is faster like sgt c says drive both of them and see which one is the best for ya!!
  14. yep got the paul bailey set up on my zed but i have completely blended it in with the rear of the car!! no gaps at all right round it just smothed in !! looks really smart sorry dave c LOL!!!, but you r right the bit sticking up in the pick shouldent be there try playing bout with it a bit more for a better finish took me a while to get mine in place properly.
  15. thanks buddy, yep what a heart breaker just had my zed on the road after about 2 years and now all of a sudden its the turbo seals i think, they have only done 8,000 miles unbelievable!!!
  16. please could someone tell me if im having head gasket failure !! white smoke from both exhausts !! tons of it, i thought if one side had failed then only one side would smoke is this correct ?? highly unlikely both sides of the head gasket have failed at the same time !! bit of coolant loss !! was ok before i did my pcv valve replacement !! starts and runs ok !! any help much appreceated dewi
  17. yep phill is deffinetly shit hot, am going to take my zed there next week to sort out my white smoke, he is very quick at doing his work and highly recomended.
  18. had a look at my exhausts and a lot of water is coming through them, the aiv valve in the passenger side wheel well is gurgling as well could the water in the aiv valve be going into the exhust manifolds and is causing the smoke ??
  19. have done a ecu diag test including the o2 sensors and all seem well, have also reset the ecu and its still smoking really bad only started after i did the pcv job !!! :o
  20. ok then so i have just finished fitting the pcv valves and the 5 new hoses thanks to mike feeney in the traders section, went to start the zed and a load of white smoke is pouring out of both exhausts turning brown when u give it a rev and it backfires to so i think its running really rich !! bit of history for ya !! was smoking a lot of blue oil but the pcv kit sorted it !! new turbos 2 years ago !! and only done about 5000 miles on them i did disconect the drivers side o2 censor i think to get to the pcv valve !! any help much appreceated as its driving me nuts
  21. i think using mig tips and the like can cause aggressive boost spikes, might be safer using a quality boost controller !!
  22. it might be a good idea to do all the pistons while you r there, by that i mean piston rings !! a lot of work matey from the bottom, get to it from the top, as the lads say best to take the lump out and do all you can to it when the engine is out will save you a fortune in the future !!
  23. hia bud give luke a ring at the z centre he supplied mine they use the rear light s off a fiat coupe, not a bad job to do either !!
  24. yep it was me fella, have now removed and is now back to standard but still smoking really bad!!
  25. yep andy very feasable, but mine has used a liter and a half of oil in less than a month, im sure it is a breather problem somwhere, if the turbo seals are leaking i think it goes to the exhaust side of the turbo causing the dreaded blue smoke!! but my oil problem is happening i think before the compressor side of the turbo, my guess is that when im boosting pressure the rocker cover is pressurising causing oil to be sucked out through the breather pipes on top of the rocker cover to the inlet side of the turbos, that would explain why my intercooler pipes are soaking wet with oil, oil is also reaching my air filter pipework im guessing through the recuirc valves!! do you think i should replace the breathers with a new set including the pcv valves, ah yes one last question, on the rocker cover breather there is a restrictor in the pipe what end do i attach it to, the rocker end or the inlet pipe end?? cheers
