i have a tt auto, the tail happy attitude is the fun of it mate, once you have a few months under your belt you will love it

think the book says dexron II as a standard fluid for the tranny, you might want to go dexron III as it has better pressure and heat properties

i would guess that it is the start lock out on the autobox that keeps doing it, think its a interlock that stops you from starting the car in gear....could be talking crap though...do a gearbox diagnostic, you will find instructions on how to if you search

I have sprayed mine with plastikote and have decided it isnt worth it as it does scratch quite easily, am reworking all the fabric panels with vinyl( dark grey) soon and will cover the centre panel as well to give a nice contrast to the rest of the dark stuff
