Hi Im looking at getting a Z and i just wondered how Twitchy they are? it will be my first RWD car.

lets just say in the wet a tt is "intresting" but like any transtition from fwd to rwd just take it easy at first coming outer bends and soon you,ll love em :)

if you do go for a zed matey i'd suggest you don't go for an auto. They are lethal in the wet, i learnt the hard way, on kickdown in the wet the back end will fly out even in a straight line

welcome petey. as above you got to be carefully at first but you'll soon get to love em. And bunny what are you talking about you big girls blouse  , thats the fun part of the car.. you soon get to control it. sliding up the road sideways as your over taking

i have a tt auto, the tail happy attitude is the fun of it mate, once you have a few months under your belt you will love it

Hey mate welcome to the club.

If you do get one take it easy, I have always had rwd cars and love to get the arse out, but I got caught out and now the rear suspension is out and I have to repair it all.

Thanks for all the replys :)

Im only 24 so it will be an all year round car for me, I had a Celica GT up till a couple of months ago when somone wrote it off outside my house.

So im gonna be well happy to get into somthing nice again, Im going to go look at a Z ive seen tommorow, its a 93 Reg Targa Manual, only got 62k on it, fresh import

2 bunnies on the firm christ we'll have hundreds by the end of the year now

i have a manual theu are just as good in the wet and not so wet if the little chave knob heads are givin it the large at the lights i like to pull away nice and easy at the same pace as them then hit the floor with the peddle and see them dissapier as the arse snakes down the road GREAT: fun enjoy :)

What about if its wet and they are giving it large, can you still own them or do you have to let it go cause its to dangerous

I dont think the zed is too tail happy, certainly no where near as bad as my first RWd car which was a 200sx! Nice motors, but they must have been built to drift even before drifting was cool! The zed is nice to drive and if it does start to slip out then just do nothing and the car collects itself generally, can be tricky in the wet but then i bet any car with nearly 300bhp is going to be a handful!

lol. no pulling away nice and easy in the zed is the same as them giving it large, just make sure you don't go cheap on the tyre'. Had Nankans on mine when i first got it and it was all over the place, use Mitchellins Pilot sports now. and athough they will still let go they are far far better, but same as any car. You push it and it will bite you,

just got to learn how to control it. big fun

Big hello and welcome :)

Zed's can be loads of fun. Just don't plant the right foot down too early on the bends lol. Take it easy and get used to the car first. oh and you might not think you are cornering that fast but take a quick peek in your rear view and see just how far behind you've left the other car. I used to think I'm not taking this corner very fast then peek in the rear view and I'd see the car behind miles away lol

Oh and compared to some cars the steering might appear a bit light, at first.

Manual Twin Turbo's are the best IMHO.

Make sure you get a good one, as there are some real dreadful ones out there. Take a look around the site some nice ones will be up for sale. Somewhere theres a nice fact sheet type thingie on the site telling you what to look out for I'm sure someone more able then myself will find you the link. :)

All the best

even if you let them go and they get 1/4 mile ahead your be up there arse before they realise they have hair on their balls

welcome! 1st rear drive? a Z? nice one! is this '93 a TT or N/A? i think the N/A manual is actually quite an easy rear driver to learn the principles in. the TT's are a little less forgiving (and dont get carried away with the right pedal round corners, no matter how slight they are) and the auto's are just nasty in the wet.

i think the biggest way they catch you is when you are already moving quite fast round a bend (like 60+mph), boot it and it grips and f99ks off........... then boost comes into it and the back lets go - big. the first time it happens in a turbo'd RWD it'll scare the hell out of you and you'll want to sell it. the second time you'll think "hmmm" and once you're used to it it becomes great fun just using the power to control the back out of bends. it probably looks good too but from where i sit i dont really care. it gives you a real sense that its got real power unlike imprezas, early evo's, etc where they put good numbers on paper then feel like a let down when you drive them.

oh and they drive NICE!!!!!

I think this one is a N/A but not 100% sure.

Going back to 200sx's I was tempted by one of them to start with but the Z is quicker and imo looks better.

I had heard that 200's were very tail happy tho?

ill sell you mine for 10k lol!!

200sx's are quite strange cars to drive for me. the engines are peaky and the chassis is nervous. after waiting ages for them to boost they are very tail happy. more track-orientated than the Z which isnt clever on the road and when you want decent power you usually get lots of lag. nice cars and cheaper to buy/run/tune (i nearly bought one myself before the auto Z) but 200/Z = no contest to me. the Z's better equipped, more comfy, faster and less on the edge which makes it a lot quicker on the road for most people (me included).

and yes, the Z deffinately looks better.

and mod for mod you'll get more power.

and there's more potential.

and they dont rot as much (unless its a jap - get it undersealed asap).

and if you're after bragging rights down the pub they have bigger numbers.
