  1. for peace of mind and 2 hours work a autobox upgrade cant hurt mate, plus the royal purple oils have shown to increase torque and power

Sorry gotta say this...........STOP Take a breath and search the internet for all things 300zx this place is fantastic http://www.aus300zx.com/tech/a-z.html With your current technical ability i believe a engine rebuild on one of theses might be a bit of a challenge for you. As for the gearbox fluid , the autobox cooler is in the radiator so i hope you have reconnected the oil pipes to your new cooler( you did use a auto radiator or even better a aftermarket oil cooler) and didnt let and dirt get into them, the gearbox takes 8.7 for the euro version and 7.7 litres for all others( the euro version had a bigger oil cooler for the gearbox) of dexron III oil. Do not rev your engine if you believe it is smoking, find the reason why its smoking , rectify it, then rev freely. If you have overfilled the oil it will be finding its way into the combustion process due to overfill and the high pressure, 3 litres of oil for a straight drain and refill , 3.4 if you are gonna do the filter as well.Do the oil immediately as you dont want the overfilling to pop seals out.   14. there was a article in jap tuner a bit back that tested shell optimax , bp ultimate and tesco 99, result was optimax allowed much more ignition advance than the other two before det.
  15. My first real one for a while and worth it for the grin factor alone. Coming out of penzance there was a black bimmer behind me that kept dropping back and punching it to close on me , each time i heard his dump valve so i knew it was something different.Decided to take the sensible lane at the tesco roundabout that is the exit from penzance and see what happens, he decides to go up the inside fast so i floor it and match him and start to pull a bit then he has to pull out behind me and after 60 there wasnt any way back for him as then mine starts to rock.I brake for the morrisons roundabout which leads onto a dual carriageway , and up he comes again so i decide hes obviously gonna try it coming out of the roundabout so i decide to drift it to keep the revs up where i need em , dont think hes ever seen that or he shit it thinking I was gonna lose it , cause i opposite locked it on the exit and was spinning away before he was even close, gave him a wave bye and that was it again....mind you the high speed power drift was fun and left my tubs in the perfect band for a fast exit .....I gotta get those avon zz3's on to help with some back end control
  16. sorry didnt realise you didnt have a upgraded oil cooler...deffinitely the first thing you should do, along with a gearbox oil change and a gearbox filter clean, you will need 8.7 litres of dexron III oil, apparently royal purple is the oil of the moment.I am saving up for a manwell conversion and will just drive the car and continue modding till gearbox shows signs of giving up

  18. I would say likelier is that your speedo is out as the top speed with odrive off should be around the 125mph region you can get different converters for drag take offs but i dont know if they alter the top speed
  19. locking the convertor is what happens when there is no more gears for it to go up, thats why i click overdrive on around that time and you can hear the gearchange again.
  20. ok, hold on the brakes with the revs at 2000/2200 rpm odrive off and in power mode,launch( brake off and floor it at the same time), with the overdrive off it will lock the convertor at around 100mph, click overdrive on at this point and most of the time everything is in the distance in your rearview mirror, using this way of launching i get a 4.8 0-60 time and a 11.9 100mph.
